24、 Have you ever heard of e-waste, which can be produced every day?How do you deal with your computers, MP4 players and mobile phones when they're broken or you want a new one?
Most people just throw them away. With the development of electric industry, e-waste pollution has become a serious problem. According to the United Nations, in 2014, people around the world produced 41.8 million tons of e-waste and only recycled 6.5 million tons. The US was the biggest waster, producing 7.1 million tons. China came second, with 6 million tons.
It's important to pay attention to e-waste. It can either be valuable or harmful, depending on how we deal with it. E-waste is a valuable urban mine. The value of the metals, like gold and silver in the waste around the world, is amazing. And the metals can be reused. But if people throw them away, the toxic(有毒的)chemicals can get into the earth or air, affecting the environment and people's health.
Apple, for example, now recycle people's used products in China when they are buying new ones. The company will test and repair the used ones and sell them at lower prices. To help reduce e-waste, we can also take computers and phones to see if companies offer recycling programs.
【1】How many tons did the people around the world produce e-waste in 2014?
A.6.15 million tons B.7.1 million tons
C.41.8 million tons D.6 million tons
【2】The following can become e-waste EXCEPT ______.
A.textbooks B.mobile phones C.MP4 players D.computers
【3】If people throw the metals away, the toxic chemicals can get into the earth or air, it will be ______ to people's heath.
A.good B.helpful C.valuable D.harmful
【4】Which statement is TRUE according to Paragraph 4?
A.The recycle Apple products will be sold at higher prices.
B.Some companies offer to recycle the used electronic products.
C.It's better to keep the unwanted electronics in your bedroom.
D.Buying longer lasting electronic products is a good way to reduce e-waste.
25、 Have you heard of 5G? It is the fifth generation of mobile network technology. If the past few years were about testing and developing of 5G technology, it’s time to show some real applications ( 应用) this year. What changes will 5G bring to us?
First, 5G promises much faster data download and upload speeds, and more stable connections. This means that you will be able to download an entire HD movie in seconds and only experience a short delay between sending and receiving data. Also, VR games will become more popular with 5G. The short delay of 5G will make the games more real.
This big change will not only make our mobile Internet faster. It will also change every industry like health care in telemedicine and self-driving cars. These cars can send signals to each other. They also “talk” to traffic lights and road sensors (传感器). 5G will show cars to react even faster than human drivers.
5G also makes the Internet of Things (IoT 物联网) possible. IoT is a large network that connects everything to the Internet. Smart homes are part of it. For example, your toaster could automatically ( 自 动 地 ) start making breakfast after your alarm rings.
Though 5G makes our lives more convenient, it will not be perfect. For one thing, 5G will not “travel” far. On 4G networks, we can be 10 kilometers away from the nearest transmission base (传输基地) and barely lost signal. But 5G will only cover about 300 meters, meaning that we will need more transmitters so that we can get signals. And in order to use 5G, we will have to buy new products specifically designed for 5G that are presently expensive.
【1】You will be able to download an entire HD movie in seconds because 5G promises .
A.slower mobile Internet B.more unstable connections
C.much faster data download and upload speeds D.a long delay between sending and receiving data
【2】The examples of the toaster is used to explain the usage of 5G in the area of .
A.communication B.transportation C.mobile Internet D.the Internet of Things

A.驾驶 B.反应 C.思考 D.行动
【4】Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.5G technology is in the period of testing this year.
B.Special designed phones for 5G are not expensive at present.
C.Self-driving cars are faster than human drivers with the help of 5G.
D.With the help of 5G, patients can see the doctor through the Internet.
【5】The best title for this passage would be “ ”.
A.Future Technology B.The Fastest Generation
C.The advantages of 5G D.5G Network is on the Way
26、 ①Choosing seating in the classroom can have an influence on a students performance (表现), a study suggests.
②Researchers from Sheffield Hallam University in the UK did a survey on students' seating positions in a classroom. Here are the results.
③The more prepared and hard-working students sit in front rows. They almost always score higher on exams. Perhaps, the front row is the perfect position for students who have trouble concentrating (集中注意力). Also, sitting closer to the front of the classroom does have an influence on the student-teacher relationship, which is connected with greater performance.. According to a study in2018, the Grade Point Average (平均成绩) decreased (下降) by 0.1 point for every row further back students sit.
④Still, some students prefer the middle rows. Dr. Robert Wallace, a member of the National Education Association, thinks of choosing to sit in the middle of the classroom as one of the worst decisions a student can make. "In a classroom, a teacher's eyes often go to the front and the back of the classroom. They don't look at the centre of the classroom very often or with the same amount of attention" said Dr. Robert Wallace.
⑤If neither the front nor the middle is suitable for a student, there can only be one way out: the back. The back row would have the lowest value. That's where students are more likely (有可能的) to chat, play video games or do some other things. However, things are not always what they seem. There are also some good students who work hard in the back row.
【1】From the third paragraph, we can learn that ________.
A.good students always sit in the front row
B.teachers like students who sit in the front row
C.poor students have trouble paying attention to the teacher
D.students in the front row may get along well with the teacher
【2】Which of the following is TRUE?
A.Students in the front row can concentrate more easily.
B.A student s performance can't be influenced by where he sits.
C.A teacher pays more attention to students in the back row.
D.Students in the back row like to play video games very much.
【3】Which of the following can best describe the structure of the passage?

27、 Scientists in Britain and the United States have made a new kind of enzyme(酵素) that eats plastics(塑 料). With its help, plastics can be turned into smaller parts and go away quickly. Scientists believe that, in the future, it could solve the problem of plastic pollution.
The enzyme is able to break down PET, a form of plastic. PET was first made in the 1940s and is now widely used to make plastic bottles. It can remain in the environment for many years and pollute large areas of land and water. So it has always been a headache to deal with the waste from PET and other plastics.
The researchers made the discovery(发 现) while examining the structure of a natural enzyme in Japan. They found that the natural enzyme was helping to break down PET plastics. So, they decided to make small changes to the enzyme by adding some amino acids(氨 基 酸). It made the natural enzyme’s plastic-eating abilities work faster and better.
John McGeehan, one of the lead researchers, said, “We’ve made an improved enzyme. It’s better than the natural one. And we are trying to make more improvements to it.” He went on, “The enzyme is not harmful to humans or animals, and it is friendly to the environment. So we are considering putting it into wider use.”
The team is now trying to make the enzyme break down PET in large quantities(大量). “We’ll see that the plastic pollution may be stopped with this technology. However, there is still a long way to go,” John McGeehan added.
【1】Which is not true about the advantage of enzyme?
A.It’s able to make plastics become smaller parts.
B.It can solve the problem of the plastic pollution right now.
C.It’s used to make the plastics disappear in a rapid way.
【2】The underlined phrase “break down” in the passage probably means “________” in Chinese.
A.实验 B.生产 C.分解
【3】Which isn't the change they made to the natural enzyme?
A.Some amino acids were put in it.
B.The speed of plastic-eating has been improved.
C.The quality of plastic -eating remained the same.
【4】Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.The scientists are still trying to improve the enzyme.
B.The enzyme will pollute large areas of land and water.
C.The natural enzyme woks better than the improved one.
【5】We can’t infer from the study that________.
A.The team is able to increase the speed of the plastic -eating abilities
B.Efforts are made to increase the number of PET that the enzyme breaks down
C.Few efforts are required to the improvement of this new enzyme
