24、 In 1926, a Frenchman named Niepce needed pictures for his business. But he was not a good artist. So he invented a very simple camera. He put it in the window of his house and took a picture of his garden. That was the first photo. The next important date in the history of photography was in 1837. 25、Interschool Sports Programme
Interschool Sports Programme is coming. It will start on 30th April and end on 15th June.
Students in our school will take part in the boys’ basketball games. Each Wednesday the players will travel by bus to Sports Centre, Erinvale Street, Corinda. They will leave school at 12:20 p.m. It will take them about 20 minutes to get there. The games will begin at 1:00 p.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. Players must wear their school clothes and sports shoes. It will be great if they can bring a large water bottle.

26、 The Great Wall is one of the most famous historical sites in the world today. Do you know that an Englishman has spent years protecting it?
William Lindesay got interested in the Great Wall when he was a schoolboy. In order to realize his dream of visiting it, he majored in (主修) Geography at college.
In April 1987, he arrived in China and spent 78 days walking along the Great Wall. During the journey, William found that the Great Wall was actually not the same as what he had seen in pictures. “Some people scribble (乱涂) on it and some throw rubbish all around,” he said. From then on, William made up his mind to stay in China, study and protect the Great Wall.

Sooner or later everyone has to write something like a thank-you note， a report at a meeting ， a complaint or an apology．If you hate writing assignments in school， or if you still fear to put pen to paper， facing that empty page is almost as frightening as you’re facing a tiger．How to write it? Short， simple words are better than long words．Short sentences are better than long sentences．Remember that the goal is to communicate， not to express yourselves．Most people are so devoted to what they want to say that they forget somebody else has to be able to read it．Too much information makes you lose readers before they understand what you want to say．

Read what you have written out aloud， and listen for any awkward sentences．All good writers read， then rewrite．Back off a little bit from what you’re writing．It’s an old standard， but if you can， write something and come back a day later．
