一、翻译题 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 1、I think it is important for children to learn how to do chores and help their parents with housework. It is not enough to just get good grades at school. 61Children these days depend on their parents too much. They are always asking, 62“你能给我拿一下这个吗?or “Could you help me with that?” Doing chores helps to develop children’s independence and teaches them how to look after themselves. 63It also helps them to understand the idea of fairness. Since they live in one house with their parents, they should know that everyone should do their part in keeping it clean and tidy. Our neighbors’son got into a good college but during his first year,64他不知道怎样照顾自己.As a result, he often fell ill and his grades dropped.65.The earlier kids learn to be independent, the better it is for their future.

四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、   There's a heat that's so hot you can literally(不加夸张地) fry an egg in the sun. This is a serious side to summer in Australia that you might not know about.

In February there were more than 80 different bushfires burning at the same time in New South Wales, a southeastern state of Australia. The Guardian newspaper reported that 42 homes were burned to the ground because of these fires. These homes are not like Chinese ones. They are huge farms. Many Australian properties are larger than 1,000 sq km, while the biggest is more than 20,000 sq km, even larger than Beijing!

Every family prepares for bushfire season and protects their property. But sometimes the fires are too big and people have to move to safety

The hot weather also causes other problems. It was so hot in February that thousands of bats(蝙蝠) died from the heat. People can get sick if they stay outside for too long or don't drink enough water The heat can also cause power problems for homes and businesses

The heat, which can go above 40 ℃ in some cities, is very dangerous. There are lots of trees and dry grass in areas far away that can easily catch fire. Even throwing a burning cigarette out of a car window can start a dangerous fire. That is why summer is also known as "bushfire season" in Australia.

The Australian summer is enjoyable. But it is worth remembering that the heat can cause lots of problems, too.

1According to the second and third paragraphs, we know that________.

A.bushfires happen more often on farms

B.bushfires can cause a huge loss to people

C.Australian people are very rich because of their large farms.

2What does the underlined word “properties” in Para.2 probably mean in Chinese?

    A.房产 B.山林 C.水域

3The hot weather in Australia can bring the following problems EXCEPT that________.

A.bats can die B.electricity can go out C.drinking water runs out

4What’s the main idea of the fifth paragraph?

A.There are more fire accidents in areas far away.

B.It is dangerous to smoke in a forest.

C.Bushfires in Australia are common events in summer.

5What can we infer from the passage?

A.The high heat is one of the causes of bushfires in Australia.

B.People have no way to fight against bushfires.

C.The weather changes a lot in Australia.

Sometimes he even closes his eyes, leaving just his flaring nostrils(长大的鼻孔) show us that he’s only playing around. A tasty carrot will not make him break character.

【1】Which of the following can best describe the horse?

    A.Independent.

    B.Active.

    C.Outgoing.

    D.Smart.

【2】Why does the horse have many fans?

A.Because he will drop to the ground in a very dramatic way and play dead when someone wants to ride him.

In the Roman town of Pompeii in Italy, archaeologists found a lot of graffiti written in Latin,  including political and romantic messages, and even some magic spells!

In the 1970s, young people in New York used pens to write their names, or "tags", on walls around the city. One of the first "taggers" was Demetrius, a teenager from a Greek family. He wrote his tag on walls in his neighbourhood and in subway stations on the way to school. Other teenagers saw Demetrius's tag and started writing..their own tags on walls, buses and subway trains all over New York. Then, some teenagers stopped using pens and started using paints. The teacher stood before his class and was going to hand out the final exam papers. “I know you have all worked hard to get   【1】   for this test.”He said. “And because I know you can do it well, I would like to offer a B to anyone who will choose not to take the test.” Many students jumped   2   to thank the teacher and left the classroom. The teacher looked at the students left in the classroom and said, “Does anyone else want to get a B? This is your last   3 .”Two more students decided to go out.

I never had a teacher   6 that, but I think it is a test that any teacher can and should give. Students who don’t believe in what they have learned are B students at most.

The same is true in our real life. The A students are those who believe in what they are doing because they have learned from both success and failure. Scientists say that by the age of eight, 80% of what we believe about ourselves has already been formed. You are a big kid now, and you realize that you have some limits(局限). However, there is   8   you can’t do if you believe in yourself and keep going.
