四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、Have you ever run into a careless mobile phone user on the street? Perhaps they were busy talking, texting or checking updates on WeChat without looking at what was going on around them. As the number of this new “species(物种)” of human has kept rising, they have been given a new name˗˗˗˗phubbers.

Recently, a cartoon created by students from China Central Academy of Fine Arts put this group of people under the spotlight(聚光灯). In the short film, phubbers with different social identities always put themselves in their phones. A doctor plays with his mobile phone while letting his patient die, a pretty woman takes selfie(自拍照) in front of a car accident site(场地), and a father loses his child without knowing about it while using his mobile phone. A chain of similar events finally leads to the destruction(毁灭) of the world.

Although the ending sounds overstated(夸张), the damage(损害)that phubbing can bring is real.

Your health is the first to bear(承受) the effect and result of it. “Constantly(不断地)  bending(使弯曲) your head to check your telephone could damage your neck,” Guangming Daily quoted(引述) doctors as saying, “the neck is like a rope that breaks after long-term stretching(伸展).” Also, staring(盯着) at telephones for long periods of time will damage your eyesight gradually, according to the report.

But that’s not all. Being a phubber could also damage your social skills and drive you away from your friends and family. At reunions(团聚)with family or friends, many people tend to stare at their telephones while others are chatting happily with each other and this creates a strange atmosphere, Qilu Evening News reported.

It can also cost you your life. There have been lots of reports on phubbers who fell to their death, suffered accidents, and were robbed of their telephones in broad daylight.

    C. To advertise the cartoon made by students

    D. To tell people the bad influence of phubbing

3Which of the following is NOT a risk a phubber may have?  _________.

    A. He might get divided from his friends and family

    B. His neck and eyesight will be gradually harmed

    C. He will cause the destruction of the world

    D. His social skills could be influenced

4Which of the following may be the author’s attitude(态度) towards phubbing?  _________.

    A. Supportive   B. Against   C. Active   D. Favorable

5What may the passage talk about next?  _________.

    A. Advice on how to use a telephone   B. Ways to reduce(减少) the risks of phubbing

    C. Results of phubbing   D. People are crazy about phubbing

When a new student arrived in my third grade class. I thought it would just be a common student, but this student was different. His name was Derek and he had autism(孤独症). He sometimes had random outbursts (随意的发作) during class and we would stand there, doing nothing because we didn’t know why he was doing that. When he sat down at desk, we would try to get away from him. After class, we would play jokes on each other, imitating Derek, and laughing about it.

Then one day, Derek’s mom came to our class and talked with us. She told us that Derek wasn’t just having random outbursts-- he was trying to communicate. Then she chose a volunteer and filled, that person’s mouth with soft sweets. When we found the volunteer had great trouble in trying to speak, the mother explained that was what Derek was going through every day. We all understood her meaning.

After this talk, no one tried to make fun of Derek or run away from him. We accepted his outbursts in class and he became one of our friends. Having a class with Derek has taught me to have an open mind to those who are different from us. My experience in having an autistic classmate has, provided me with a good lesson.

  • 27、The human brain is divided into two sides, or hemispheres, called the right brain and the left brain. The two hemispheres work together, but each one specializes in certain ways of thinking.

Each side has its own way of using information to help us think, understand, and process informa-tion.The left side of the brain controls language. It is more verbal and logical. It names things and puts them into groups. It uses rules and likes ideas to be clear, logical, and orderly. It is best at speech, reading, writing, and math. You use this side of the brain when you memorize spelling and grammar rules or when you do a math problem.

The right side of the brain is more visual and creative. It specializes in using information it receives from the senses of sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste. This side of the brain likes to dream and experiment. It controls your appreciation of music, color, and art. You use this side when you draw a picture or listen to music.Although we all use both sides of our brains, one side is usually stronger or dominant. Some people are more “left-brained,” and others are more “right-brained”. Our dominant side influ-ences the kinds of jobs and hobbies we have.
