26、 “Children who eat three or more hamburgers a week are more likely to suffer from asthma (哮喘),” researchers say. However, they say that the risk may not be caused by the meat-rich diet itself, but by a lack of fresh fruit and vegetables.
The study looked into 50,000 children from 20 countries. Parents were asked about their children’s eating habits and whether they had ever suffered from asthma. The effects of their diet seemed to be different depending on where they lived. Fruit and vegetables are more helpful in less rich parts of the world, while eating lots of fish was more helpful in richer countries. Eating at least three hamburgers a week was linked to a greater risk of asthma, but only in wealthier countries.
Dr. Gabriele Nagel said different things may cause asthma in different parts of the world. “This gives us more understanding of how asthma affects different people, and its effects in developing as well as developed countries,” she said.
High levels of unhealthy fat in hamburgers could increase the risk of asthma. However, the researchers said children who ate several hamburgers a week might have other unhealthy lifestyle habits as well.
Researchers said the study helped us understand how asthma and diets are connected. “Previous (先前的) studies have shown that a diet rich in fruit and vegetables can help to reduce a child’s risk of developing asthma symptoms (症状),” Dr. Elaine Vickers said. “Our advice to parents is to make sure that children have a healthy diet and also get plenty of exercise.”

27、 A young mother went into a small bedroom. Her baby was sleeping there. There was a cat near the baby. The mother took the cat away immediately, because the cat often lay on the baby. Then the baby couldn't breathe and it died by magic. In many countries, people are afraid of black cats because they bring bad luck. Napoleon didn't like black cats. He saw a black cat before the battle of Waterloo. He lost the battle and the British won. Therefore,on the Continent, the black cat is unlucky;in Britain it is lucky. In general, animals are lucky and birds are unlucky. In the British army, some have a goat for luck, and some have an Irish wolfhound(猎狼犬).When President of America Eisenhower died, there was a horse in the funeral(葬礼)procession. This was for luck.Several years ago in Britain,Prince Charles went fox-hunting.When they caught the first fox, they killed it. Then they put some of the blood on Prince Charles. They did the same thing two years later, when Princess Anne went foxhunting for the first time. A lot of people don't like foxhunting, and they were very angry when this happened. It is called“being blooded”;and fox-hunters think that is very necessary. It brings good luck to the new foxhunter, when the blood of the first fox is put on him or her. 28、 A few days before Christmas, the crowded shopping downtown was starting to annoy us. Most of us were loaded down with packages, and it looked like many of us were beginning to wonder if all those countless friends and relatives actually deserved so many gifts. This was not the Christmas spirit I’d been raised with.
When I finally got on a jammed streetcar, the idea of standing there packed like a sardine the whole way home was almost more than I could take. Suddenly I saw something out of the corner of my eye. A small, dark-skinned boy pulled a woman’s sleeve and asked, “Would you like a seat?” He quietly led her to the closest free seat he could find. Then he set out to find another tired person. As soon as each rare new seat became unoccupied, he would quickly move through the crowd in search of another burdened woman.
When I finally felt the pull at my own sleeve, I was absolutely struck by the beauty in this little boy’s eyes. He took my hand, saying, “Come with me, ma’am.” As I happily settled down, the little angel of love immediately turned to help his next subject.
The people on the streetcar, as usual, had been deliberately avoiding each other’s eyes, but now they began to exchange shy glances and smiles. That little boy had obviously changed something—we all relaxed into a feeling of warmth and actually enjoyed the trip.
I didn’t notice when the child got off. When I reached my stop I practically floated of that streetcar, admiring the sparkling Christmas lights on my street in a fresh, new way. Or maybe I was seeing them in an old way, with the same wonder I felt when I was five or six. Anyway, it is the little child that shall lead the ways for me.

A.Uncomfortable. B.Warm.

【3】Why did the author see the boy as the little angel of love?
A.Because he was dark-skinned. B.Because he occupied free seats.
C.Because he helped tired persons. D.Because he took her hand gently.
【4】What changes did the boy bring to the people on the streetcar?
A.They got to know one another.

C.They became more friendly to each other.

29、A New Museum of Ice Cream
The hottest museum in New York has got pop art, its own subway and a line out the door and around the block. It might not really be a museum at all.
The Museum of Ice Cream has built its first location in 2016 in Manhattan. At that time, so many people headed there that its tickets sold out within five days. And then, it was followed by Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Miami. Now, it founds a permanent (永久的) home in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood.

The permission to photos
Unlike other museums where the phones are not allowed, everything in the Museum of Ice Cream makes taking photos so popular. People who visit it will tend to take many photos. The Rose Mansion and Color Factory that also introduce such experiences owe their success to the Museum of Ice Cream.
The big-ticket item in the museum
There is a sprinkle pool (糖果池) filled with candies. Creative founder Maryellis Bunn dreamed of swimming in the sea of chocolate when she was a child. “It’s all about fun, and feeling like a kid again,” She said. So she designed it where she and 30,000 other New Yorkers could do that.
Cost
Tickets start at $39 and kids under 2 are free, plus more for private sprinkle pool parties and activities with up to 40 friends.
