“Well, I am Lucy. I was 11 when my family arrived at Fern lake overlook on Trail Ridge road in Rocky mountain national park.

It was so beautiful to look miles across the Rockies and thousands of feet below into the valley.

My parents were busy getting lunch out of the trunk so I climbed over the wooden fence to get closer to the cliff edge for a better view.

I started down a little hill but soon started sliding on loose rocks.

I fell on my butt (屁股), but kept going faster and faster to what seemed the edge of the world (a 2,000 foot drop). In seconds I knew I was going to die. My feet and legs went first over the edge at a high speed. Then suddenly I felt two hands push hard on my chest and stopped me dead. My heart was racing and I slowly inched my body back to where I finally could make it back up the hill.

My father was waiting there and screaming at me for doing such a dangerous act.

I tried to tell him and my mom about the hands that saved my life, but to this day they don't believe me. They thought I was just trying to get out of trouble with a made up story.”

We parted ways, but I assured her that I believed every word of her story.

That's why I always ask people to share their miracles.

Each real story makes my day.

  • 29、   I like watching TV very much for I think it has many advantages. First of all, watching TV is a good rest. After a day of hard work, we need a good rest.Watching TV can make our mind and body not tired any more because of the pleasant music and TV plays.

Besides, watching TV is entertaining. There are many kinds of entertainment, such as sports activities, singing and dancing concerts, plays and films all over the world at every time. It’s not possible for us to go to every place to enjoy all the activities within a short time. But within just one second, TV can bring us from an NBA game in New York to a fashion show in Paris by changing the channels.

Most important, watching TV is educational. Our children can learn every kind of subjects through the educational programmes and the special reports on TV, and it’s easy for them to learn Chinese from a Chinese teacher in Beijing and to learn Russian lessons from a Russian teacher in Moscow. Even we can learn how to behave well from the TV plays. Besides, a teacher can teach millions of students without a huge classroom.

五、书面表达 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 32、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Sometimes I just felt like there were two of me. On the night of our school science fair, Mum and Dad both came because I was getting an award (奖励). They didn’t sit together but they each told me how proud they were of me. It was the first time in a long time that I’d seen them in the same room.

When I went back to Mum’s the next day, I was feeling sad and wasn’t paying attention as I rode my bike down the street. My bike hit a rock, and I fell down hard into the street, twisting (扭伤) my leg.

Mum rushed me to the emergency room calling Dad on the way. Someone put me on a bed and took an X-ray of my leg. My leg really hurt, but I almost forgot about it when I saw Mum and Dad both standing next to me. When the doctor said my leg wasn’t broken and I could go home, I went back to being the same old rubber band (橡皮筋).

At least at school nothing had changed, and I could be just me. My best friend, Trish, was in my class and we told each other everything, our deepest, darkest secrets. But one day Trish decided to pick Lisa instead of me to be on her softball team. I was so mad! So I hid her lunchbox. No one could find it. Later that day the teacher asked the kids again if anyone knew what had happened to the lunchbox. When she got to me, I couldn’t lie. I was sent to the principal’s (校长) office, and the principal called my parents. We had a meeting. Mum gave me her disappointed look that said, “How could you embarrass (使难堪) me like this?”

Tears filled my eyes. “I know. I feel terrible. ” Then the words kept coming out of my mouth like rocks rolling down a hill. “I hate that you get divorced (离婚)! You don’t even talk to each other unless I’m having a problem. My whole life has changed. I have two different homes, and two different sets of rules. And Tm always afraid that if you get mad at me, you’ll divorce me, too. ‘‘I froze. Did I just say all those things out loud?
