23、你最好给我留下你的电子邮箱。
You _______ leave me your e-mail address.
24、任务型阅读:
请认真阅读下列短文,并根据所读内容在文章后面的图表里填入最恰当的单词。
Next to e-mail, the most popular activity on the net is chatting. And if you ask someone what kind of things they do most on the Internet, chances are they will answer that they like to chat. This seems especially true of the younger generation.
Chatting is like any other social interaction. We all know that if we go into a group of people at a party or at school… and start screaming or start asking everyone their age before we even say hello, we aren’t going to make many friends. Chat rooms are different. Below are some tips that will make your chat experience friendly and fun!
Walking into a room and demanding age or sex is the most common mistake a new chatter makes. Most regular chatters will ignore the question and you. In a community such as Youth Tech you will usually find people of all ages and backgrounds. That is the fantastic thing about online chatting. Don’t limit yourself. Talk to everyone in the room equally. You will soon know who shares your interests and who doesn’t. If you prefer a one-on-one type of online friendship, then maybe you’d better look for a pal.
Shy? Lots of people feel shy when they enter a chat room where everyone seems to know everyone else except him. It’s really easy to feel left out. The best way to lose that feeling is to make yourself feel that you are not a stranger. If you enter the room and say “Hello, everyone! My name〈nickname here〉and I’m new.” You will find that there are normally at least a couple of extra friendly people that will be happy to help you become a part of it all.
Basically the best way to have a good chat experience is to be yourself and friendly. Try to join in the conversations going on and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Do remember, however, not everyone is going to be nice and friendly. The same as at school, there are also going to be a few people that are rude and just make you feel rotten. The best thing to do is just ignore them. Arguing with them will just make it worse. Show that you are better than they are by just refusing to let them get to you.
25、 The late president of South Africa , Nelson Mandela , once said :“If you talk to a man in a language he understands , that goes to his head. If you talk to a man in his own language, that goes to his heart.”
After all, it’s the language we first hear – usually from our parents – and the language we first learn to speak. We can communicate in a nuanced(微妙的)way through our mother language , expressing our emotions and moods more fluently . We make friends in our mother language. We fall in love in it. We suffer bereavement(丧亲之痛)in our mother language . When we die, we know that people will mourn(哀悼)for us in our mother language .
For the people who speak an ancient tongue as their mother language , it is the repository(贮藏库)of tradition . The language is their main link with their ancestors. And it’s also how they imagine the future.
So it’s a serious matter for a language to disappear. Over the last century, more than 400 languages have died. Some languages are now spoken only by a few dozen people, such as Yagan, a language from Chile. Africa and South America are also places where many languages are imperilled.
Why are we humans speaking fewer languages than we once did? The answer has a lot to do with globalization. With greater trade and communication, the planet has become smaller. It’s become more useful to speak some languages – English is the obvious example – than others. the effect has been to kill certain languages, usually ones spoken by less populous(人口众多的)and powerful peoples.
But there are people and organizations all over the world that aren’t prepared to accept a planet with fewer and fewer languages. Through efforts both large and small, they are getting people to speak and read in certain languages, and to pass them on.
The United Nations recognizes this work. This is why each year on Feb 21, it holds International Mother Language Day to raise notice of dying languages, as well as praises the people who are struggling to protect them.
This work is surely important. Language is the roadmap of a culture. It tells where its people come from and where they are going.

26、Chinese astronauts gave a science lesson to millions of students on Dec 9, 2021. They did so from 400 kilometers above Earth, from the Tiangong space station. The three, Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu, showed life in space and did experiments in gravity.
“It was the first lesson of the Tangong class, China’s first in space.” noted China Daily. “Its goal is to make more people know space science.”
“The lab of the space station has many conditions that the Earth lab does not have, such as the environment of weightlessness and radiation.” Wen Xin, a professor at University, told Xinhua. He said that important jobs for astronauts in the space station include research of cell growth and plant life.
In the lesson, Ye did experiments that had to do with cell growth in a weightless environment. He compared the growth and shape of cells in artificial gravity and zero gravity to study their changing rules in space. This was not the first time that China has tried to grow plants in space. As early as 2016, Chinese scientists grew rice on the Tiangong Ⅱ space lab to study how plants grow without an Earth-like environment.
Another experiment in the space lesson was shown by Wang Yaping. She showed how a paper flower “bloomed” on the surface of water in Tiangong space station. She explained that the surface tension of water becomes stronger in space due to zero gravity. Surface tension is like a “skin” of water. One of the examples of surface tension on Earth is that some insects can walk on water. Most of the time, gravity is too strong and it breaks the “skin”. But with zero gravity in space, some insects can use surface tension to “stand” instead of falling through water. Surface tension plays a key role in product development. Researchers are measuring surface tension to improve the quality of their products. Detergent effect can be improved with even lower amounts. Surface tension also has influence in medicine development.
Although the astronauts are thousands of miles away, their research really influence our life. Shi Yi, a teacher, told China Daily that the space lesson was “an eye-opening experience that would attract more students to study science”.
【1】What do we know about the science lesson?
A.Its goal is to study the cell growth in space.
B.It focused on the use of zero gravity in space.
C.It only showed experiments in artificial gravity.
D.It was the first lesson from China’s space station.
【2】Ye’s experiment about is mainly about?
A.Ways to study the rules of cell growth.
B.How to better develop space-grown plants.
C.How cells grow in a weightless environment.
D.Differences between artificial gravity and zero gravity.
【3】What can we learn about from water surface tension from the passage?
A.It always gets stronger when increases.
B.It makes insects fall through water In space.
C.It helps plants to grow better in space.
D.It can help to make better detergents.
【4】What’s the best for the passage?
A.Tiangong space station
B.Special teachers from space
C.A science lesson in space
D.A study of weightlessness
27、Alice Lewis is from America. She is a creative girl. She likes to invent to think of new ideas for things that no one has made before, and then make them.
One day, Alice’s mother showed her an article which explained how difficult it was to get sick people through the countryside to the hospital in Africa. Alice wanted to help.
Alice knew that in North America, before there were cars, horses pulled heavy things on a travois(旧式雪橇)which was made of wood. Alice thought people in Africa could do the same thing. She added wheels to the travois for the African people. To make her travois light to pull, she used bamboo, a plant that grows in Africa, instead of wood.
You need to wear a belt(腰带)to pull Alice’s travois. That means you can free your hands to carry or hold other things. Alice thought her travois was perfect for carrying food home from the market, as well as taking people to the hospital. After it was finished, she wrote instructions for building one. So people in Africa could make it by themselves.
Alice doesn’t know if she wants to be an inventor when she grows up, because she also likes music and writing. But she thinks it’s important for children to learn about inventing at school.
