Wrapped Walk Ways

The idea of creating a two-part project became reality in 1991 when they completed The Umbrellas in Japan and the US. The project was completed in two countries at the same time, reflecting the similarities and differences in the ways of life and the use of the land in the two countries. 1, 340 blue umbrellas were placed in a valley in Japan. 1, 760 yellow umbrellas were placed in a valley in the US.
The Floating Piers
The Floating Piers was a walkway covered in yellow fabric that stretches almost two miles into Lake Iseo in northern Italy. The project was open to the public from June 18 to July3, 2016. Visitors were able to experience the work of art by walking on it. It was Christo’s first large-scale project since Jeanne-Claude passed away in 2009.
L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped
The idea for covering the L’Arc de Triomphe was born in 1961 when they lived in Paris, and it was approved by the French government in April 2019.
The L’Arc de Triomphe is wrapped in 25, 000 m² of recyclable light blue fabric, and 3, 000 m of red rope was used. It was on view for 16 days from September 18 to October 3, 2021.

27、 An 82-year-old Chinese female pilot has set a record in the country's airline industry after flying a small plane for 40 minutes in Beijing. Miao Xiaohong, one of China's second batch （一批）of female pilots, controlled the Tecnam P2010 plane to take off, turn, climb, dive and land safely at the Shifosi Airport in Pinggu District of Beijing.
In 1956, Miao Xiaohong, who graduated from a high school in Jinan, won a position in the second batch. She graduated from the flight school in 1958. Poor visibility （能见度）prevented her locating the target areas as the clouds were about 100 meters above the ground, but she managed to finish the task.

To prepare for the flight, she walked 3 ,000 steps every day and moved her arms to meet the requirements for high-altitude flight during the past two months. The trainer said that Miao Xiaohong could finish 30 hours of flight to get a license for commercial flight. 29、(CNN) — This photograph of two men sharing a drink 30 meters below the water is part of an art project exploring the mysterious world of freediving — a form of underwater diving that relies on a diver’s ability to hold his or her breath until resurfacing rather than on the use of oxygen tanks (氧气瓶).
Each man, dressed in shirt, jeans and sunglasses, sits in a chair at the bottom of the Caribbean Sea with local sharks — harmless to humans — swimming just meters away. Of course, these aren’t ordinary men, but freedivers: extreme athletes who dive on a single breath of air.
American photographer Lia Barrett had been taking pictures of brave divers competing at the Caribbean Cup off the coast of Honduras, when she decided to create a fantastic underwater world in which humans go about everyday tasks — such as drinking coffee or riding bikes.
“After the competitors had a great time in the new national and world records set at the competition, I took advantage of their breath-holding skills to do photo shoots I had only dreamed of before,” said the 29-year-old.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Barrett is often asked whether the amazing pictures are Photoshopped. She laughs quietly as she insists they’re 100% real.
The picture of two men having coffee took 50 minutes to create, with the men receiving oxygen from standby assistants around every three minutes.
“On the way back up, we were holding onto the table during our decompression (减压) stop in the strong current (水流) — it was quite a scene.”
The underwater models made an 11-minute stop on the way back to the surface, making sure they didn’t rise too quickly and suffer decompression sickness — which can cause deadly blackouts (眩晕).
