26、 As a child, Emily Blunt had a stutter(结巴) that made it difficult for her to even say her own name. “I started noticing it at 6 or 7,” the London-born actress says. “My grandfather, my uncle and my cousin all stutter. It feels like you’ve got this pretender living in your body.” After a teacher noticed her stutter disappeared whenever she would start to play energetically, he suggested she try performing for the school play. She found that the more she lost herself in characters, the less uncomfortably nervous she felt and the less she would stutter.
Now the star aims to help kids going through the same thing by working with the American Institute for Stuttering. “They understand that how these kids relate to their stutter is usually the issue,” says Blunt. “You’ve got to fall in love with the fact that you’ve got a stutter to accept it. But it’s not all of you. Everyone’s got something-and this is just your thing.”
Blunt’s personal experience has inspired her to help girls everywhere, regardless of the trouble they may face. The A Quiet Place Part II and Jungle Cruise star also supports Malala Fund, created by Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai to break down the barriers preventing more than 130 million girls worldwide from receiving an education. “She’s the most moving, impressive person I’ve ever met,” Blunt says. “What she says is true: When women are given more power in communities, those communities develop quickly and successfully. I want to support Malala until the day I die.”
Giving back is a quality Blunt and husband John Krasinski also hope to pass on to their daughters Hazel, 6, and Violet, 3. “Empathy is highly thought of in our house,” Blunt says. “We tell them all the time, ‘Be brave, be kind.’ ”

27、 Many wild animals are facing the danger of disappearance, because the environment that they are living in has changed greatly. At the same time, man is killing off species just for getting their fur, skin, horns, teeth and meat.As a result of ivory-poaching(象牙偷猎)which caused the population to drop 20% between 2006 and 2015, elephants are among the most endangered animals in the world. But now in the Grumeti Game Reserve in Tanzania the elephants wander freely and safely as everyone wears a tracking collar.Rangers (护林人)in the operation room depend on the Earth Ranger Tech Platform (ERTP) to follow each elephant. In its early stages of development, the platform was named the Domain Awareness System or DASS.
What we do with DASS is that we monitor every collared elephant and we also input data which in turn helps us make decisions and plan operations. When dangers are detected, the system warns the rangers who are following the data.DASS makes rangers always behind and after the elephant even if it has been killed or has been injured.Rangers are really able to predict and get ahead of the danger.
Rangers not only save the lives of the elephants, they also protect the workers in the re-serve from poachers.Frequent and fast communication with the operation room makes the rangers' tasks easier and safer. The developers hope Earth Ranger will provide conservation- ists(资源保护论者) in the region with the network where they need to work together and save Africa's wildlife.

28、In modern society there is a great deal of argument about competition. Some value it highly, believing that it is responsible for social progress and prosperity; others say that competition is bad; that it sets one person against another; that it leads to unfriendly relationship between people.
I have taught many children who held the belief that their self-worth relied on how well they performed at tennis and other skills. For them, playing well and winning are often life-and-death affairs. In their single-minded pursuit of success, the development of many other human qualities is sadly forgotten.
However, while some seem to be lost in the desire to succeed, others take an opposite attitude. In a culture which values only the winner and pays no attention to the ordinary players, they strongly blame competition. Among the most vocal are youngsters who have suffered under competitive pressures from their parents or society. Teaching these young people, I often observe in them a desire to fail. They seem to seek failure by not trying to win or achieve success. By not trying, they always have an excuse: “I may have lost, but it doesn’t matter because I really didn’t try.” What is not usually admitted by themselves is the belief that if they had really tried and lost, that would mean a lot. Such a loss would be a measure of their worth. Clearly, this belief is the same as that of the true competitors who try to prove themselves. Both are based on the mistaken belief that one’s self-respect relies on how well one performs in comparison with others. Both are afraid of not being valued. Only as this basic and often troublesome fear begins to dissolve can we discover a new meaning in competition.

A.Competition helps to set up self-respect.
B.Opinions about competition are different among people.
C.Competition is harmful to personal quality development.

A.It pushes society forward.
B.It builds up a sense of duty.
C.It improves personal abilities.
D.It encourages individual efforts.
【3】What is the similar belief of the true competitors and those with a desire to fail ?
A.One’s worth lies in his performance compared with others.
B.One’s success in competition needs great efforts.
C.One’s achievement is determined by his particular skills.
D.One’s success is based on how hard he has tried.
【4】Which point of view may the author agree to?
A.Every effort should be paid back.
B.Competition should be encouraged.
C.Winning should be a life-and-death matter.
D.Fear of failure should be removed in competition.
