  • 23、Don’t let your kids drag their feet (拖拖拉拉) over doing chores. Help them to make the boring chores enjoyable.

________ A simple and great way to make cleaning great fun is to do some of it together. Play some beautiful music while you are doing chores. Then you won’t feel bored.

Get lucky. If your kids like surprises, write chores on ice-cream and have each kid pick one. Tell them they can change their picks if each of them agrees. In this way, they will have a feeling that they’re making a choice (选择).

Make it playtime. Turn “kitchen time” into a party. Let one child be a cook and another be a DJ. The cook chooses what he or she would like to help make for dinner. The DJ chooses the music he or she would like to play. Everyone can dance around the kitchen while preparing dinner or cleaning up the kitchen later.

Find more difficult chores. One of my friends was trying to get her kids to help out around the house, and someone advised her to give the kids some things like candies or toys as rewards. The plan worked like magic. However, rewards usually don’t work for long because kids will be bored with doing the same chores all the time. At this time, give them some difficult chores. If they’re already used to helping clean the cage of the pet, make it harder by having them clean it all by themselves. Then, ask them to clean it faster.

【1】What can we know from the first paragraph?

A.Most children like to do chores at home.

B.It’s not necessary for children to do chores.

C.Parents should do chores at home by themselves.

D.Parents should help children make chores interesting.

【2】Which can be put back into the blank?

    A.Work as a team.

    B.Be a model at home.

    C.Play while working.

    D.Let kids do chores alone.

【3】What does the underlined word “rewards” mean?

    A.交换

    B.实验

    C.奖赏

    D.惩罚

【4】Which is a great way to make kids do chores actively (积极地)?

A.Telling them the importance of doing chores.

B.Asking them to do difficult chores all the time.

C.Letting them eat ice-cream whenever they want.

D.Turning “chore time” into “party time”.

【5】Where may this passage come from?

    A.Famous People.

    B.Parenting Science.

    C.World’s Teenagers.

    D.Short Stories.

  • 24、   China and Western countries have something different in cultures about certain animals, but when it comes to pigs, we have the same idea—pigs are ugly, lazy and stupid.

Just look at some Chinese sayings such as "Boiling a dead pig' and "A pig looking in the mirror is still a pig." And in English, there are some expressions like "Eating like a pig" and "Pigs might fly." None of them are complimentary (赞美的).

However, pigs have some good qualities (品质). They are even as smart as dogs and elephants. They have good memories. And they know whether (是否) people treat them well or not.

A UK cartoon, Peppa Pig is a most popular cartoon. The four members in the pig family teach children from all around the world about love, friendship and the value (价值) of family. And a Chinese cartoon film, the Adventures of Me Dull, is also very famous. In the cartoon, the little pig, Me Dull, has a heart of gold and always works hard towards his dreams. Most people want quick success, but Me Dull is slow and patient, and not afraid of failing again and again.

Maybe when we talk about pigs next time, we should think of their good qualities.

1China and western countries have________in cultures according to the passage.

A.the same idea towards pigs B.different ideas towards pigs

C.the same idea towards all the animals D.different ideas towards all the animals

2From Paragraph Three, we can learn that________.

A.pigs have bad memories B.pigs don't know who treats them well

C.pigs are as clever as dogs and elephants D.pigs are not ugly, lazy or stupid

3The writer gives the two examples of cartoons in the passage to show________.

    A.pigs have good qualities

    B.the two cartoons are well-known

C.both Chinese and English children like pigs

D.China and Western countries have different cultures

七、短文填空 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 25、

Ears are part of your body. Have you noticed the size and shape of your 1 before? The size and shape of your ears show your character(性格) more than other parts of the face. Other parts of the face change shape as we get 2, but ears do not change their shape with the age. They only change in size.  Judging(判断) people’s character3 their ears is a very old science. In the 4 , people thought that a person5 big ears had a good character. They thought that the person was dangerous if he had small ears in nearly white color. They 6 thought that the shape of the ear showed whether a person was musical or not.

Now, many people believe that the size and shape of the ear tell us if a man is musical, 7 Different people have 8ears, and each different thing has a meaning. Ears that are always red 9that a person may get angry easily. Ears that are always cold and white mean that a person has nervous character. Do you 10with it?
