四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、When I was growing up, I was embarrassed to be seen with my father. He was disabled and very short. When we walked together, people would stare at us.

Our usual walk was to or from the subway, which was how he got to work. He almost never missed a day. He would make it to the office even if others could not. It was a matter of pride for him.

He never felt sad for himself or envied (嫉妒) other people who could walk normally. What he looked for in others was a good heart. To him, that mattered more than anything else.

My father still tried to do the same things as others did, even if he couldn’t do them the same way. For example, he liked to go to dances and parties, where he could have a good time just sitting and watching instead of dancing.

I now know he took part in some things through me, his only son. When I played basketball (poorly), he “played” too. When I joined the army, he “joined” too. When I visited his office, he would introduce me, but he was really saying, “This is my son, but it is also me, and I could have done this, too, if things had been different.”

He has been gone for many years now. I wonder if he ever noticed that I was embarrassed to be seen with him during our walks. If he did, I am sorry that I never told him how sorry I feel. I think of him when I find myself envying others—when I don’t have a good heart.

【1】What made the father feel especially proud?

A.He drew lots of love from other people.

B.He almost never missed a day at the office.

C.His son sent him to the office every day.

D.He could walk with his son.

【2】What did the father think of his situation?

A.He didn’t envy people who could walk normally.

B.He wanted people to understand him

C.He could always do things the same way as others.

D.He sometimes felt sorry for himself.

【3】What does the father mean by saying “if things had been different”?

A.If he could join the army.

    B.If the rules were different.

    C.If he was not disabled.

    D.If he was treated well.

【4】What can we infer about the author from the text?

A.His father has been gone for many years.

B.He feels sorry for being embarrassed.

    C.He doesn’t have a good heart.

D.He still feels embarrassed to have his dad.

  • 26、   Pizza Hut has created a new way to get your favorite pie to you: through your shoes — Pie Tops II. Pie Tops I received so much popularity that Pizza Hut makes them available for sale, in more colors and more sizes than Pie Tops I.

I bought a pair of Pie Tops II and successfully ordered pizzas. It’s really cool and easy. Here’s something I did not expect when first wearing a pair of Pie Tops II: They are comfortable. Walking around in Pie Tops is perfectly fine.

There is a Pie Tops II app where users pair the shoes through Bluetooth. Users need a Pizza Hut account (账户) to place orders. Unluckily, you can’t order everything as you like, because it only accepts orders of Pizza Hut’s two medium pizzas for $5.99 each. To avoid the accidental pizza order, once you press, a message appears on your phone to tell you to make sure.

The Pie Tops II goes on sale for $150 on HBX.com. It is clearly a marketing stunt ( 营销噱头). Experts say the main goal here is to draw attention to Pizza Hut. Really, your interest in this not—very—serious product should come down to how deep your love is for Pizza Hut. Do you REALLY love their pizzas so much that you will always wear these shoes just to make it possible to order pizzas at any time with them? Then, sure, go ahead and splurge (挥霍). If you do not, then go on ordering pizzas by phone.

1What can we know about Pizza Hut’s special shoes?

A.People treated Pie Tops I coldly. B.Pie Tops I drew enough attention.

C.Pie Tops II shoes are larger than Pie Tops I shoes. D.Pie Tops I shoes are unavailable for sale.

2How does the writer feel after using Pie Tops II shoes?

    A.Disappointed. B.Uncertain.

    C.Satisfied. D.Strict.

3Which sentence shows people are limited (限制) when ordering through Pie Tops II shoes?

A.They cannot choose from Pizza Hut’s full menu.

B.The Pie Tops II app must be used with a TV set on.

C.They can’t correct the wrong order made by mistake.

D.They must hold their smartphones after placing an order.

4According to the writer, Pie Tops II shoes are not a serious product, because________.

A.they depend on smartphones B.users must use the Pie Tops II app

C.they are just a marketing stunt D.they just show your love for pizzas

5The writer calls on the readers to consider the question “________”.

A.Are Pie Tops II shoes too expensive? B.Do you really need Pie Tops II shoes?

C.Did Pizza Hut bring customers high tech? D.Did Pizza Hut invent new ways to order pizzas?

  • 27、   Are there too many kids obsessed (着迷的) with texting?

    Texting Nonstop!

Yes, I do think kids are too obsessed with texting. Many kids I know can be in the same room or even sitting next to each other, but they text each other rather than actually talk with friends, it's hard to get their attention when they are texting. People seem to like to text more than talk.

    —Riley

    Responsible Texting

No, I don't think too many kids are obsessed with texting. Sometimes kids might just need some time alone on the phone. They probably just need to talk to their friends! I believe most kids are responsible and know when to stop texting.

    —Ella

Guilty (羞愧的) About Texting Too Much

Kids are really obsessed with texting. When I text my friends, almost all of them answer in less than a minute. Some of my friends even get their phones taken away for being on them too much. I see my friends most of my day at soccer time or at school, and even I am guilty of texting them several hours a day when I am home. Sometimes it's better to spend time outdoors and with your family rather than with your phone.

    —Tom

Get physical Training—Get off the phone!

A lot of my friends, as soon as they got a smartphone, texted or got online constantly. Spending that much time on a screen is not healthy for you or your brain. Personally, I'd rather spend time outside doing sports with my friends than on the phone. You can tell your friends things at school or whenever you see them next time—you don't have to spend all your time texting.

    —Shann

1Who doesn't think many kids are obsessed with texting?

    A.Ella. B.Tom. C.Riley. D.Shann.

2What does Riley think of kids texting on the phone?

A.Spending much time on a screen is not healthy for brain.

B.They have the ability to control themselves in texting.

C.Spending time outdoors is better than texting.

D.They should stop texting too much and talk.

3Which of the following is TRUE according to the text?

A.Kids spend more time exercising than texting.

B.It's common to see kids texting everywhere.

C.All kids are responsible and know when to stop texting.

D.Kids shouldn't have time alone on their phones to talk with friends.

    A.A survey. B.A story. C.A notice. D.A speech.
