二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、   Indonesian university student Tyas Sisianindita spends about eight hours a day on her phone. That time includes watching videos, chatting with friends and using social media. "At night, when I can't sleep, I can use my phone for up to five hours," she said, noting she checks her phone countless times from morning until night. She even checks it while in class.

Tyas goes to the University of Indonesia, where a team of students recently developed a device meant to fight phone addiction. The students spent three months creating the device, which can help internet users like Tyas diminish time they spend looking at their phones.

Inventor Irfan Budi Satria led the development team. The device is called “Nettox", which combines the words “internet" and "detox (排毒)". Users wear it on their arm. The device has a sensor that measures hemoglobin (红蛋白) oxygen levels and changes to the heart rate called HRV. Studies have found that using a mobile phone for long hours can lower HRV levels. The Nettox device makes a sound when HRV and blood oxygen levels fall, which reminds wearers to stop using their phones.

For people between the ages of 18 and 25, the HRV should stay above 60. At a recent trial, Tyas' HRV reading was 44.

Internet addiction is a growing social issue in Indonesia. In October, two teenagers were treated for their addiction to internet gaming, media reported.

Irfan Budi Satria's team is working to improve Nettox's accuracy. HRV readings can change depending on whether the user is a man or woman, and what their body shape and health conditions are.

The team aims to get a patent for their invention with the university by next year. Irfan says Nettox is for people already trying to change their behavior. "Our goal is to help people who want to free themselves from internet addiction," he said.

【1】What can we learn about Tyas from Paragraph1?

    A.She often sleeps late.

    B.She often skips classes.

    A.Kill.

    B.Treasure.

    C.Record.

    D.Reduce.

【3】What does Paragraph 3 mainly talk about?

    A.How the device works.

    B.Where Nettox is from.

    C.When users wear the device.

    D.Why hemoglobin changes with HRV.

【4】What is the team focusing on now according to the text?

    A.Applying for a patent.

    B.Setting free phone addicts.

  • 22、Food made from atmospheric carbon could feed the world while helping to fight climate change, according to Solar Foods, a Finnish company founded in 2017.“We can collect CO2 anywhere,” said its CEO Pasi Vainika, whose company has developed a protein powder made using CO2. “That’s a strategic shift where raw materials are in the air. ” The protein powder, called Solein, can be turned into meat and dairy substitutes or added tofoods and shakes.

Solar Foods uses special units to pull CO2 from the atmosphere. To turn it into protein, microbes (微 物),similar to those in the production of wine and yogurt, will be fed on it to grow and reproduce. During the process, water is split into hydrogen and oxygen. Along with a growth medium containing necessary minerals, the three gases are pumped in to feed the microbes. Harvested and dried, that remaining mixture becomes Solein—a yellow powder made up of single-cell protein, with a nutrient composition similar to wheat flour.

Solar Foods claims that Solein removes most of the emissions associated with modern agriculture, which is responsible for almost one-third of all greenhouse gas emissions. “One kilogram of Solein sends out 0.2 kilogram of CO2e(二 氧化碳当量).In comparison.beef herds produce around 100 kilograms and chicken 10 kilograms,” said Vainikka. “ We can rermove the climate impact of modem food systems on the planet, which today account for about 30 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions.” He further stressed that while the company’s factories also require some land used for industrial farming, only about one-tenth of the land is needed compared to photosynthesis (光合作用). “We could free up agricultural land to grow back forests,” he added, “and those remove carbon permanently from the atmosphere.”

Probably optimists are now contenting themselves with the pleasant scene of masses of trees absorbing CO2: on the planet. However, while that may sound great, Vainikka put it right, “It can happen only if we produce enough Solein from CO, to replace meat and dairy at a large scale.”And that still remains a long way to go.

【1】What can we say about Solein?

    A.It is in the air.

B.It can be changed into meat.

    C.It can take in CO2.

D.It is good for the environment.

【2】What are needed to produce Solein according to Paragraph 2?

    A.Wine and water.

    B.Water and minerals.

    C.Mierobes and yogurt.

    D.Wine and microbes.

【3】What does Paragraph 3 mainly tell us about Solein?

    A.Its present situation.

    B.Its possible benefits.

    C.Its production process.

    D.Its potential drawbacks.

【4】Which of the following can be the best title for the text?

    A.Air Protein Produced, CO, Reduced

    B.Collecting Air, Removing CO2

    C.Climate Changing, Danger Coming

    D.Protect Earth, Save Ourselves

  • 23、“Boreout (闷爆) is different from burnout (精疲力竭) in the sense that bored-out employees rarely break down with exhaustion. Bored-out people may be present physically but not in spirit, and people can keep doing this for a good while,” says Harju, who has studied boreout for years.

Workers who realize they’re experiencing boreout may also be unwilling to flag it up as an issue to line managers or human resources. “While the behaviors that feed into burnout — overwork, drive — are appreciated and rewarded by employers, boreout reflects a lack of interest, a lack of motivation,” says Harju. “These are things that are avoided in organizations.”

There are some quick fixes, like taking on work tasks that are more interesting to you. But a 2016 study Harju and her colleagues worked on showed that people who had boreout were less likely to engage in constructive activities like trying to find new, interesting challenges at work.

What happens more often, she says, is that people will just show up at their desks and spend time shopping online, chatting with colleagues or planning other activities. She says that these people aren’t lazy, but are using these behaviours as “coping mechanisms”.

Fahri Ozsungur, an associate professor of economics at Mersin University, Turkey, who was behind the 2021 study on the health effects of boreout, points out that combating the phenomenon isn’t just down to the individual. “Giving meaning to the job is not just up to the employees,” he says. “Instead, it’s up to management to create an office culture that makes people feel valuable.”

If you think boreout is seriously affecting your health either physically or mentally, it may be valuable to ask yourself how you might be able to reselect your career path toward something healthier for you. Seek the advice from advisers, career consultants, friends and family.

“If only people take its suggestion, boreout can make a change into something else: a different career entirely, or a different role in the organization,” Harju says.

【1】What is the purpose of the first paragraph?

A.To introduce the topic of the text.

    B.To describe people with burnout.

    C.To explain what burnout is.

D.To tell us who Harju is.

【2】Why do people prefer not to talk about their boreout?

    A.They lack relevant knowledge.

B.They are warned not to talk about it.

C.They may not want it to be known to employers.

D.They fear to be laughed at by their colleagues.

【3】What does the underlined word “combating” in paragraph 5 mean?

    A.Encouraging.

    B.Blaming.

    C.Trusting.

    D.Fighting.

【4】Which of the following may Harju agree with?

    A.Forcing employers to increase salaries.

B.Sticking to the job until you adapt to it.

C.Trying spending more time with your family.

D.Considering changing a new job interesting you.

  • 26、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

    Only Love Lasts Forever

Yesterday after telling my brother, Rhys, and me to stop playing like wild animals in the house for what she said was the thousandth time, Mom went to take a bath. That’s when it happened. We were playing around, bopping each other with pillows, when one slipped from my brother’s grasp and smashed the glass dome (圆顶) on the coffee table, shattering it into a zillion pieces!

With her supersonic hearing, my mom heard the big crash and then the sound of glass hitting the floor. Wasting no time, she came flying into the room to find out what had happened. I was sure my brother and I were dead meat and she was going to start yelling at us, but instead she just knelt by the pieces and began to cry.

This made Rhys and me feel pretty awful----We went over and put our arms around her, and she explained to us why she was so upset. Under the shattered glass dome was a white porcelain (瓷的) rose. Dad had given it to her on their first wedding anniversary. He had said that if he ever forgot to bring flowers for an anniversary in the future, Mom was to look at that one. It was like their love—it would last a lifetime.

Now it lay chipped on the floor, one petal (花瓣) gone. We began crying too and offered to glue it for her. She said that wouldn’t really fix it. Now that it had been broken, the value of the “limited edition” had lessened. We got our piggy banks out to pay for it, but Mom replied that to her the rose represented Dad’s love and could never truly be restored.

As Mom slowly began to pick up the mess, we tried everything we could think of to cheer her up, but even our best funny faces didn’t work. Mom just looked away. The tears kept coming down her cheeks.

    注意:

    1.续写词数应为150左右;
