22、The products below exhibit the new ideas that pushed consumer tech forward during 2017. The list covers the width of our view, from transportation and televisions to parenting.
Best in Transportation; Bike Sharing
Bike sharing bust upon the US scene in 2008. But it took until 2017 to start attracting big investments. This is the year bike share programs freed themselves, and the year cycling began rolling toward the American mainstream. For most people, cycles mean cheaper rides and more flexibility; for cities, they mean fewer capital construction costs up front. This year, Chinese companies Mobike and OFO launched in Washington, DC, and Seattle, respectively. If cities can keep building bike lanes, the American revolution of transportation is well on its way.
Best Parenting Product: Veer Cruiser
Given how common it is to have two small kids of different ages, it’s surprisingly hard to find an easy-to-use vehicle for carrying them around. The Veer Cruiser is an endlessly adaptable stroller-wagon (四轮推车) that easily accommodates multiple babies. It has a locking handle for pushing or pulling the load. It’s strongly built with an aluminum chassis (铝制底盘) on large tires made for roads like grassy hills. If you take the kids out in one, just make sure you re-member to pack the snacks.
Best Home Entertainment Product: LG C7 OLED
When it comes to TVs, a lot of new words have come out in the last few years — terms like UHD, 4K, HDR. But the only word you need to know is OLED. This earns you incredibly bright and vivid colors that never appear washed out, as well as the deepest blacks your eyes have seen. The company’s C7 OLED is the best TV you can own. LG improved the brightness, and made blacks even hacker. The 55-Inch C7 is currently $1,700 over the holidays, a lot cheaper than last year, and worth every penny.
【1】When did biking start to appear in the American street in large amounts?

23、Camp Ballibay for Fine & Performing Arts
Camp Ballibay is a summer arts camp that offers engaging programs in theater, art, dance, rock, and media for young artists at all levels.
Three hours from New York City, on a beautiful Pennsylvania mountaintop, is the summer camp for creative, independent-minded kids.
With never more than 160 kids, and always at least 40 adults, it’s an ideal community for fun and learning: warm, diverse? and accepting.
80% of the kids come for more than one summer, and 25% of the camp community has been coming for more than 5 years.
We offer 3 & 4 week general programs, where teens design their own program days, choosing from any and all of our activities. We also have 2 & 3 week programs with a visual arts focus, 2 week rock music camps, and 2 week intensive dance programs.
Q & A
What type of teen attends your program?
We provide a warm and safe space for a lot of special kids who don’t necessarily have an easy time finding their “group”, because they are young artists, different thinkers, free spirits, super-shy, etc... When the right kids come to Ballibay, they know they are among “their people”, often within minutes of arriving on campus.
What is special about your program?
Ballibay is a unique environment for personal and artistic growth. We believe strongly in non-competition. There are no contests, no awards, no pressure to do or to be anything or anyone in particular. We attract the artist, and the different thinker.
【1】How many of the teens have come to Camp Ballibay before?
A.Half of them. B.Most of them.
C.75% of them. D.A quarter of them.
【2】What can the teens who attend general programs do?
A.They can choose either visual arts or dance programs.
B.They can stay for two weeks learning everything.
C.They can decide for themselves what they want.
D.They can design anything based on their interests.
【3】According to Q&A, which of the following best describes Camp Ballibay?
A.A friendly atmosphere with no pressure.
B.An attractive place with many challenges.
C.A competitive environment for artistic growth.
D.A unique summer camp for exploration of arts.
24、 Spring is coming, and it is time for those about to graduate to look for jobs. Competition is tough, so job seekers must carefully consider their personal choices. Whatever we are wearing, our family and friends may accept us, but the workplace may not.
A high school newspaper editor said it is unfair for companies to discourage visible tattoos (纹身),nose rings, or certain dress styles. It is true you can't judge a book by its cover, yet people do “cover” themselves in order to convey certain messages. What we wear, including tattoos and nose rings, is an expression of who we are. Just as people convey messages about themselves with their appearances, so do companies. Dress standards exist in the business world for a number of reasons, but the main concern is often about what customers accept.
Others may say how to dress is a matter of personal freedom, but for businesses it is more about whether to make or lose money. Most employers do care about the personal appearances of their employees, because those people represent the companies to their customers.
As a hiring manager I am paid to choose the people who would make the best impression on our customers. There are plenty of well-qualified candidates, so it is not wrong to reject someone who might disappoint my customers. Even though I am open-minded, I can’t expect all our customers are.
There is nobody to blame but yourself if your set of choices does not match that of your preferred employer. No company should have to change to satisfy a candidate simply because he or she is unwilling to respect its standards, as long as its standards are legal.
【1】Which of the following is the newspaper editor’s opinion according to Paragraph 2?
A. People’s apperances cany messages about themselves.
B. Customers’ choices influence dress standards in companies.
C. Candidates with tattoos or nose rings should be fairly treated.
D. Strange dress styles should not be encouraged in the workplace.
【2】What can be inferred from the text?
A. Candidates have to wear what companies prefer for an interview.
B. Hiring managers make the best impression on their candidates.
C. Companies sometimes have to change to respect their candidates.
D. What to wear is not a matter of personal choice for companies.
【3】Which of the following would be the best title for the text?
A. Personal Choices Matter B. Appearances Matter
C. Employees Matter D. Hiring Managers Matter
【4】The author's attitude towards strange dress styles in the workplace may best be described
A. negative B. positive
C. enthusiastic D. sympathetic

26、概要写作
Bears and humans often meet in National Parks. Although campers and hikers are warned not to fed the bears, many people ignore these warning and feed the beasts anyway. When bears arc used to people's food, problems soon arise.
Bears like to cat a large variety of things, both meat and vegetable. Without human assistance, bears live nicely on roots, twigs, leaves of trees, insects and small animals. With people around, the bears’ tastes quickly expand to in-chide sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, and anything else they can temp humans into giving up.
Bears often develop clever strategics for getting people to let go their food supplies. More often than not, an unsuspecting hiker has taken off his or her pack for a rest only to have a bear charge out of the woods, grab the pack and quickly disappear into the underbrush with it. Hanging the pack on a tree branch won't help. Bears have been known to climb up, jump off, and catch the pack on the way down. One mother bear stretched up with her baby on her shoulders to reach a pack stored on a pole. Many bears threaten people into giving up their supplies. Although a bear is unlikely to attack a person and would probably run away if screamed at, few people are willing to do so. Most people drop the pack and run the other way. This, of course, delights the bear.
In some places, the Park Service installed some metal barrels with lids to help campers keep their supplies safe from bears. Although the bears were unable to open these containers, the effort was less than successful. Most campers, unable to tell the metal drums from rubbish cans, never used them for the intended purpose.
