一、翻译题 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 1、阅读下面的短文,将划线部分译成英文或中文。

Lionel Messi is a goal machine and is often considered one of the best football players in the world. 1. There’re so many things to be learned from his successful story.

Messi was born in Argentina and comes from a poor family. Messi grew up very with his grandmother, so when she passed away, 2. he was in deep pain and decided to make his grandmother proud of him. At five, he started playing football for a local club and dreamed of becoming a professional football player. But that dream started to fall apart when he was told he got a growth disease. 3. This meant that he couldn’t grow very tall unless he received a treatment that cost $1,600 per month. His parents couldn’t afford it. But even though Messi was the shortest player in his team, his talent was so outstanding and soon he was noticed by the coach(教练) of Football Club Barcelona. The coach was amazed by Messi’s abilities and talent. 4. 他知道他天生就该踢足球 and soon offered Messi a contract(合同) that would change his life forever.

There is no doubt Messi is successful. He even has his own word which was added to the Spanish dictionary. The word is “inmessionante”, which means the greatest player of all time. 5. 但他的成功并非偶然 or from just luck. He worked really, really hard and had to give up many things to become who he is today. “I start early and stay late day after day, year after year. It took me 17 years and 114 days to become an overnight success”, Messi once said. So give everything you’ve got and start working on your dreams.

  • 24、In the weeks leading up to this year’s Double Eleven shopping festival, Peng Ling, a college student, received many advertising messages on her phone. The confusing thing was that she never bought things from some of the shops, so how could they know her phone number?

It can be quite annoying when our personal information is leaked(泄露). But it would be even worse if our information is used for crimes.

On November l, the Personal Information Protection Law came into effect in China. The law has detailed rules to strengthen the protection of personal information. The law describes personal information as any kind of information about people who are or can be identified. So a person’s name, date of birth, ID number, address and phone number are all personal information. There are also some kinds of personal information that are considered as “sensitive”, such as fingerprints, faces, religious beliefs, medical health and all data relating to minors(未成年)under 14.

According to the law, activities such as collecting, using, processing and trading of personal information will be strictly controlled. One key rule is that those dealing with personal information should let users know and get permission(许可).

Protection of personal information of online platform users is especially stressed. According to a report, the country has more than one billion Internet users and 60 percent of surveyed apps had collected users’ information illegally(非法地). Many apps would collect users’ information even when the app was not in use.

For individuals, it’s important to realize the importance of protecting personal information. If it’s not necessary, don’t agree to share personal information. If you find that your personal information has been used illegally, you can report to cyberspace(网络)administrations(管理机构)with evidence.

For companies or platforms, they can only handle personal information when there is a specific purpose. They need to make sure the information is under strict protection. If they break the law, they may be fined up to 50 million yuan. People who steal or sell personal information will be fined and may face prison time.

  • 25、What do people do with their old, out of date but still useful computers? Most people don’t know how to deal with them. Many old computers are put away. Many more are simply thrown away as rubbish.

Finally, some companies are thinking of ways to bring down the number of old computers. Sony has agreed to help recycle old Sony products(产品). Dell, Hewlett Packard and other companies now also take back some old computers of their own brands.

In some countries, laws have been passed, too. Computer companies have to pay for collecting and recycling their used products. And 70% of the computer waste must be recycled. The idea behind the laws is that computer companies themselves should pay for the cost. That will encourage them to make computers which are easier and cheaper to repair and upgrade(升级).

Yet many people are throwing away good computers, while others cannot afford them at all. Hundreds of organizations are working on this problem. They collect and repair old computers. Some also teach others how to repair computers. These repaired computers then go to schools, charities(慈善团体) or people who need them.
