24、When the bell rings at 9 o’clock, He Yue, 18, and a group of other students from Jiangsu Xishan Senior High School, crowd into the student community. They quickly put on their work uniforms and act as various workers. They could be a banker, a postman, a radio host or even a leader.
This is part of a project to create a simulated (模拟的) city run by students. Since last year, He Yue has been serving as an office worker for the students’ bank named K-bank. Unlike other students, she has a busy “job” during the 40-minute break: help prepare for change, fill in forms and record every deal. Sometimes, when a great deal of cash such as class funds and money from the supermarket is “stored”, she needs to count it carefully and report the result in time.
Besides that, they also offer students interest—free funds and provide safe money—stored boxes. If students want to start a business like designing bookmarks but have no money to buy materials they can come here to loan. “With so much money, I’ve gradually learned to be more careful and thoughtful,” said He.
He is not the only one serving the school. Also, some students serve the food test center and other parts of the project including cultural and creative product community, radio stations, roasts... All of these are real life experiences. “Educators must realize that the top goal of education is not just about scoring good grades, but improving useful skills that will allow students to lead a good life,” said Tang Jiangpeng, headmaster of Jiangsu Xishan High School.

25、As time goes by, are you still the same person you used to be? Many of you would think you are. But according to a new study, your personality can change greatly. You could be a completely different person at 77, compared to when you were a 14-year-old, reported The Huffington Post.
An expert in the UK did the study on a group of English people. The research found that almost everyone’s personality changed when they grew old. The findings came out in a magazine called Psychology and Aging.
The research was based on a study that began in 1950. A group of teachers gave more than 1,200 14-year-old students personality tests. They tested six basic personality traits(特点): self-confidence, sense of responsibility(责任感), patience, a strong wish to win, creativity and self-control.
In 2012, researchers successfully found 174 of the 1,200 students, who were 77 years old on average at the time. They agreed to take a personality test. That was similar to the one they had completed 63 years ago.
Researchers then compared the then-and-now test results. They were surprised to find great changes to all six personality traits of these people. Self-control and sense of responsibility had changed less. But there were still not many similarities between the two results.
The younger and older self seemed to be completely different for each person.“ It was as if the second test had been given to different people,” the study’s authors noted.
In the past, personality was widely believed to stay the same. However, this new study may bring some fresh ideas.

Although Jerry had achieved great success, he didn’t feel fulfilled. He asked himself, “Is it enough to climb the highest mountains? Am I doing something helpful? How can I turn my adventures into something that can help the world?”
Jerry learned that scientists need plants, rocks and water samples from places far away to do research. But scientist can’t get there themselves as many places are hard to reach-only the bravest adventures can make it. Jerry thought he could do something to help. He then came up with an idea. He set up a team of top adventures to collect samples for scientists. By studying the samples, scientists could know more about the earth and find ways to protect it.
Recently Jerry and his adventurer friends have discovered special plant life on Mount Qomolangma. The samples they brought back have helped scientists learn how plants live in extreme (极端的) conditions.
For Jerry, this kind of adventure is most satisfying. “Such adventures have made us see life in a different way. Now, being the best climber isn’t important to me. What matters is doing something helpful while climbing mountains. There is still much more we can do,” Jerry said to a newspaper.
