  • 1、   Have you ever thought of such question like? Why do I have to study math?" or "I am not interested in history at all. My dream is to be an engineer. Should I give history up?"

Maybe you are right. After you leave school, it's not necessary for you to understand everything. 1.But school learning is more than just getting knowledge.

2.首先,努力找到你对什么感兴趣。 At school, you study many subjects. You need to know what you like and what you don't like. This may be helpful to you in the future.

Second, maybe you don't like math and you want to drop it. 3.但是来自数学的能力能帮助你在将来解决许多问题。 So you should practice your brain by thinking more.

Third, you should believe in yourself. Maybe you learn English at school, but you don't need to speak English at all. 4.But learning English can show that you have the ability of learning languages. Suppose you go abroad one day and want to find a job there, how can you make it if you're not confident in expressing yourself in language learning?

Try to challenge yourself as much as possible. 5.你越多地挑战自我,你将会越好。

四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、Your college years, the one time in your life can you truly enjoy the art of staying up late. Others may be fooled into thinking that your sleepless nights are the result of hard study, but we know the real reason why you’re burning the midnight oil.

Does this sound familiar(熟悉)? Every evening, after returning to your dorm(宿舍), you sit checking your smartphone for a few minutes, which quickly turns into a few hours. When you do finally get round to looking at your homework, you can only manage to write a few words before you become bored.

To stop from falling asleep, you decide to play a video game just a few rounds, to put new energy in your mind so you can start working again. But the next time you check the clock, it’s already the few hours of the morning.

That’s when you realize there’s no time left to procrastinate. So you take a hold of your pen and get to work, on the one hand regretting the lack(缺乏)of time you have to complete your task, while also accepting praises from your roommates for studying so hard.

You tell yourself you stay up late because you are a hard worker. In fact you’re fooling yourself.

In the dark of night, only a few light spots(光点)can be seen in your almost-empty office. Now and then, the silence is broken by the keyboard taps(击声). Although you work overtime every day, you still haven’t managed to reach the goals you set for yourself.

But why should this be? You’re careful not to get distracted(分神)by your phone, and seldom sit around daydreaming. Still, you’ve hardly anything to show for all the extra(额外的)time you spend in the office. So you hold your head in your hands and cry out: where did the time go?

You might feel busy every day, but in truth you’re finishing little.

All your time is spent imagining a great future, without ever actually doing what’s needed to make that dream a reality.

In your mind, you work harder than anyone else, but your results show this to be a lie.

So please, have a rethink. Let’s stop it with the lying. Are you really trying hard, or are you hardly trying?

【1】Which of the following would be the best title?

    A.Are you really trying hard?

    B.Are you hardly trying?

    C.Where did the time go?

D.Are you really still at work?

  • 26、Every day, one in five parents in the UK share a photo of their children on social media (社交媒体). It is a great way for friends and family to keep up to date with each other’s lives, some people think that children should have a say in whether pictures of themselves are posted online. So who can decide whether photos should be posted online or not?

Some people think parents should always ask first. Parents may do this for good, but anything posted online may remain there forever. These may be seen by people who the children don’t want to share their childhood with. Children should have control of their own photos. Even if the parent thinks it is a nice picture, the children may not agree. Also, they may not want their friends to know what they have been doing in the holidays or who they are spending time with.

For those who hold an opposite opinion, parents are able to decide what is best for their children. They share photos with people they know and trust. Social media is a great way to keep in touch with people and find out what family and friends are up to. Parents know how to set the right privacy settings to make sure the photos are only seen by friends and family. Besides, it is important that children’s real names and the location are hidden. Parents also select photos that won’t be awkward to the children because almost every child prefers to leave a good impression on others. It’s a great way to make memories, too. Since most people don’t keep printed photos in albums, social media is the perfect place to store them instead.

【1】Why don’t children want their photos to be shared by parents online?

A.Children disagree to share the photos with all the friends.

五、短文填空 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 28、   “Where are the restrooms?” or “Could you please tell me where the restrooms are” are s1requests for direction. B2are correct, but the first one sounds less polite. That is because it is a very direct question. It is not enough to just ask a question 3 (correct). We also need to learn how to 4polite when we ask for help. Good speakers change the way they speak in different situations. The expressions they use might depend  5whom they are speaking to or how well they know each other. It is all right to ask your classmates direct questions because you know them well. 6if you say to your teacher, “When is the school trip?”, this might sound i7. But if say, “Excuse me, Mr. West. Do you know when the school trip is?”, this will sound much more polite. Usually people use polite questions 8(include) expressions such as “Could you please...?” or “May I ask…?” to show good manners. Sometimes we even need to spend time 9 (lead) into a request. For example, we might first say to a stranger, “Excuse me, I wonder if you can help me” or “I’m sorry to trouble you, but” before 10(ask) for help.
