25、After my memoir (自传) Becoming came out, I heard something similar from strangers, friends and family. They said, “I just can’t believe you remembered that much.” In fact, when I think back to the days of writing my memoir, what I remember most is the feeling of trying hard to find back the old memories. What was her name? Did I make that decision before or after that talk with Barack?
I’d only kept a diary for a short period of my life, for a few years during my late twenties as I was getting more serious with Barack and thinking about a new job. It was a time filled with change, and I found writing down my thoughts helped me go through all the changes. Then I put it away and didn’t pick it up again until I began writing my memoir.
The experience left me asking myself, “Why didn’t I continue keeping a diary?” The answer, like for so many of you, I’m sure, was that I simply had a hectic life. I changed jobs. I got married. I had children.
Looking back, I wish I’d taken more time to write down what I was thinking and feeling. This isn’t an exercise to suger-coat your experiences, or write down something different from what you actually feel. You don’t have to keep a diary every day. And you certainly don’t have to feel like you have something important to say. One of my favourite pages was about a night at a restaurant where an old man added a perfect song to a jukebox (投币式点唱机).
The beauty of life is that an experience you have today might feel totally different after a few months, or years. We don’t have to remember everything. But everything we remember has value.

B.To ask for advice.
C.To introduce a new book.
D.To give her opinions.
26、
Do you ever feel like your thoughts are going around in circles? One minute, you’re thinking about your homework. The next minute , you’re thinking about your plans for the weekend.
Is it possible for us to slow our thoughts down or even stop them completely? It depends on your definition(定义)of “thinking”, according to Michael Halassa, a researcher at MIT, US. We basically go through each day in one of the two states(状态)—we either realize that we are thinking or we don’t. Our brains won’t stop thinking completely until we die.
“The brain never actually stops ‘thinking’ in a broader sense. Most thoughts are actually in the background without us noticing them and there’s not really a way to turn these things off.” Halassa said. Human brains can unconsciously process(无意识地处理)about 11 million pieces of information per second, according to Forbes.
You can compare this to how a computer works. Even when you aren’t using your computer while it’s turned on, it is still running operations “in the background”. Your computer, much like your brain, is constantly “thinking”, even if you’re not actively using it.
Some researchers have referred to this phenomenon(现象)as “thought-chatter”. It describes all kinds of thoughts that pop(出现)in and out of our mind at different times during the day, according to Steve Taylor, a psychology lecturer.
Some thought-chatter can be enjoyable, such as daydreaming. Albert Einstein came up with his famous theory of relativity(相对论)while daydreaming at work. “But too much though-chatter can make us feel too anxious or worried,” Taylor said. “Meditation(冥想)can help us clean up some of this thought-chatter.

A.It can be reduced by meditation.
B.It is the background noises we hear.
C.It always helps us come up with new ideas.
D.It is considered as enjoyable as daydreaming.
27、Everyone gets sad. Sad feelings can happen pretty often. More than half of teenagers go through a sad period at least once a month.
【1】 However, feelings of sadness usually don’t last very long—a few hours, or maybe a day or two.
When you’re sad, the world seems dark and unfriendly. Many times, you cry, and it’s hard to stop. 【2】 When sadness starts to go away, it feels like a heavy blanket is being lifted from your heart.
If sad feelings go on for too long, it’s called depression (抑郁症). Children who have depression may not know it. Often, it’s a parent or a teacher who notices changes in children’s behavior.
When depression happens, it’s very important for children to receive treatment. 【3】 Sometimes treatment includes talking to someone who knows all about depression. Sometimes it means taking medicine. 【4】
If you think you have depression, or you just have sadness that simply will not go away, it is important to talk to an adult about it. 【5】 Many cities also have mental health hot lines that are listed in the phone book. There is always somebody who can help.
