1    . Colors of the walls, floor coverings, and furniture can reduce stress. Cooling greens and blues are positive colors that can reduce stress and create a sense of well-being.

2    . Take time to recognize signs of stress like anger, work and sleep habits. As you understand these signs, you are beginning to know how to make stress work.

3  . We can accept what we cannot change by changing what we can. Make choices that are realistic, not beyond your ability.

四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、You may have heard of the famous saying, “East or west, home is the best.”

What does the word “home” mean to you? How do you say the word in French? In Chinese? In your language? Although people usually know what the word means, it sometimes has no exact translation. It’s not surprising, because the idea of home is “ different from country to country and from person to person”. A home is more than a roof and four walls. It’s the cooking ,eating, talking, playing and sleeping that go on inside. And at home you usually feel safe and relaxed.

Homes look different in different countries. They also have different things inside. For example, in cold northern Europe, there’s a fire in the living room or kitchen and all the chairs face it, In the south, where the sun shines a lot and it’s more important to keep the heat out, there are small windows and cool stone floors.

We asked some people about their homes.

How often do people move house in your country?

“ In my country many people don’t stay in one place for a very long time. They often move every ten years or so.”

    ------Cheryl, Boston, USA

What are the features of homes in your country?

    B. cooking and eating

    C. playing and talking

    D. sleeping and relaxing

3Why is it important to keep the heat out of houses in the southern Europe?

    A. Because they want to breathe fresh air outside.

    B. Because there is a fire in the living room.

    C. Because they wear heavy clothes all day long.

    D. Because the sun there shines a lot.

4From the third paragraph, what kind of homes have depends on   .

    A. whether they are rich or not

  • 26、Hanukkah (光明节), the annual  (每年的) Festival of Lights, is celebrated with zeal (热情) by the Jewish people around the world. They celebrate the holiday with the lighting of the menorah (多连灯烛台) , traditional foods, games and gifts. Hanukkah is a Jewish festival. It falls on the 25th day of the Jewish month of Kiskv (犹太教历), which is usually sometime in December. The festival celebrates the time, over 2,000 years ago, when the Jewish people fought against an emperor who would not let them follow their own traditions and religion (宗教) . When the Jewish people won back their temple in Jerusalem(耶路撒冷), they found there was only enough holy(神圣的) oil to keep the sacred light (神圣之灯) burning for one day. However, to their surprise, this small amount of oil kept the light burning for eight days and nights, until the people had time to make more oil.

At the center of the Hanukkah celebrations is a candle stick (called a Menorah) that holds nine candles. On the first night of Hanukkah the first candle is lit, and each day this candle is used to light another candle, until on the eighth day, the last day, all the candles are lit. People exchange gifts and greeting cards, and children go to parties. Parents often give their children money at Hanukkah. Potato cakes, called latkes, are a traditional Hanukkah food. • 27、The word “shanzhai” originally means “mountain village”,but it means “copy” in Chinese now.

I started to research this topic and found a whole new shanzhai world. There are shanzhai products and online games even shanzhai culture. It is so popular that some people say to each other “have you shanzhaied today”? Like it or not shanzhai has become part of our life in China.

I even met an American IT professional recently who has just had his shanzhai mobile phone. He was so proud of it and would not stop talking about all the functions while showing off the look of his phone. But why has shanzhai become so popular in China? Why do over 50 percent of the people surveyed by CCTV support it? Firstly many may not realize it but for Chinese people the word “shanzhai’’ also reminds us of ‘‘the heroes of Liang shan”. Secondly there would be no shanzhai without the Internet. Shanzhai has caught the interest of millions of Chinese online.

There are also shanzhai celebrities. Many shanzhai singers can be seen performing in some remote places where people cannot see performances by the actual “real” stars. These events are very successful even though people know that they are not getting the “real” thing.
