21、Like the special ebony sculpture in some African countries and the amazing patchwork quilt in America, papel picado is also another beautiful kind of art. This paper art began in Mexico. However, the thin paper didn't come from Mexico. In fact, it came from China. People living in Mexico soon had a lot of paper and they began using the paper to make the house more beautiful. The paper art continues to be popular to this day.
How do people make papal picado?
To make papel picado, artists first draw the pattern (图案) for the art. Next, they fold thin pieces of colorful paper. Folding many pieces of paper allows the artists to make the same pattern on all the pieces at the same time. This is important when you need to make a lot of the same paper cuttings. Then artists put the pattern on top of the paper to make the design (设计). Finally, cut through the paper.
How do people use papel picado today?
You can see the art in windows and doorways or streets at celebrations and during special holidays. The colors and patterns depend on different kinds of celebrations and holidays.

Metro rail (地铁)
Each passenger (乘客) needs a fare card to enter and go out. Up to two children under age five may travel free with a paying passenger.
Fare card machines are in every station. Bring small bills because there are no change machines in the stations and fare card machines only provide up to $5 in change.
Passengers can ride as many times as possible with a One Day Pass. Buy it from a fare card machine in Metro stations. Use it after 9:30 a.m. until closing on weekdays and all day on weekends and holidays.
