六、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、   In this age of Facebook and Twitter, we are all supposed to have hundreds of friends. But in fact most of us have just two close friends — down from an average(平均水平) of three 25 years ago, a study says.

Researchers (研究者) say there is no need to worry about that. Instead, they say that while some of us may be getting “more vulnerable (脆弱的)”, many are becoming better at deciding who is their close friend.

The result seems unexpected. Because a lot of young people are trying to make as many “friends” as possible on the Internet.

According to Facebook, the average user usually has 130 friends, but many of these are people who are known by accident or people the user will never meet in real life.

But the researcher, Mr. Brashears says, although the circle(圈子) of friends is getting smaller, which may make us more vulnerable, we’re not as “lonely” as the result shows.

For his study, Mr. Brashears did a survey in more than 2,000 adults aged 18 and older. He found that, modern discussion networks have been smaller in size. It is the same as other researchers’ findings, but few people have become lonelier.

Researchers asked people to list the names of people they had discussed important matters with over the past six months. About 48% of them listed one name, 18 % listed two, and about 29% listed more than two names for these close friends.

On average, one person had 2.03 close friends. And just over 4% of them didn’t list any names.

1According to the study, how many close friends do most of us have?

    A.25. B.2. C.3.

2The underlined word “unexpected” probably means “________” in the passage.

    A.有趣 B.令人兴奋 C.意外

3About Facebook friends, which of the following is TRUE?

A.The Facebook user never meet some Facebook friends in real life.

B.The average user usually has 310 friends.

C.Facebook friends are all old and close friends.

4The passage shows the result of the survey by ________.

    A.giving advice B.telling stories C.listing numbers

5What does the passage mainly talk about?

A.Many people are worrying about their circle of friends.

B.Researchers find many people have only two close friends.

C.Young people make as many friends as possible on the Internet.

  • 23、   Acupuncture is known as “zhenjiu” in Chinese. Growing up, I'd always considered it out of date. As we know, acupuncture treatment lasts a long period and causes a lot of pain. Sometimes simply taking a pill can treat the same illness. But my experience made me change my mind.

Last month, I slept through a flight from London to Beijing. When I woke up, I found that I could no longer move my right arm and fingers. There was no pain. My arm simply didn't follow my brain's instructions to move, as if it was no longer mine.

One doctor said he could do nothing but give me some pills. “Rest for two months first and come back for an examination.” I felt great fear.

When I felt helpless, my friend, an acupuncturist in Sichuan, offered to help. I started my acupuncture treatment the next day. At first, I was worried. After a few days, I could move my fingers. Two weeks later, I could use chopsticks. Within a month, I got almost well. It was amazing. How do these tiny needles treat illnesses? Is it magic? Or simply luck? I tried to find out.

Acupuncture first appeared in China more than 2000 years ago. It works by improving the smooth flow of “qi”. “Qi” flows through “jingluo” throughout the body.

Although acupuncture can't treat all illnesses, at least it creates a good starting point to build a healthy body. Recently, it has spread internationally, which shows the power of acupuncture. I hope this kind of traditional Chinese medicine will bring health and happiness to friends all over the world.

  • 25、   If a man has a good appetite (胃口), it is thought that he is healthy. When we hear a boy saying, "I'm a1 hungry as a bear." We are quite sure that he is well.

It is a good sign to feel hungry in fact. The body rings the bell to tell us that it needs food.

If a boy did not eat, he would grow t2 and weaker day by day until he was unable even to walk and at last, he would stop living entirely (完全地). That is what happens when people starve (挨饿) to death.

You should know the following things about eating.

Firstly, you should eat e3 leafy vegetables and some fruit every day and have g4 of water among meals during the day. They can provide the energy we need and they are really helpful for us to grow.

S5 , you should eat three meals a day and be regular. Don't eat between meals. And eat slowly and chew the food until it is soft. Chewing carefully is really good for your stomach. Never d6 water or milk in the middle of chewing.
