After many discussions, the two boys finally worked out a plan. They would toss(抛) a coin. One of the brothers, Albrecht Durer, won the toss and his brother Jack went down into the mines. Durer worked with all his heart and his paintings were much better than those of most of his teachers. He was beginning to make a lot of money for his paintings.
Durer returned. When he told Jack he could go to art college, Jack said softly: "The fouryears in the mines have done too much to my hands. It is too late. Now I can’t even hold a glass."

Hi, I’m Mike. I work as a writer for GROWING UP. I hope I can help you with your problems. |
Q Dear Mike, I’m not very good at giving advice to other people. A friend of mine recently bought some Nike trainers online, but they were fake (假的). Everyone except him can tell that they’re fake. I don't know how to bring this up with him. Can you give me some advice? – xxximaaa |
A Dear xxximaaa, A long time ago, a friend of mine told me what he liked most about me. It was that I always ‘kept it real’. Do you know the meaning of it? It means being honest and open, even when your thought is unpopular. I suggest that you keep it real with your friend. If no one else is brave enough to tell him about his shoes, then maybe you should be the one to do it. You don’t have to do it in a mean (刻薄的) way. Just go to your friend secretly and bring it up. Your friend will thank you because you are honest. On the other hand, who really cares if the shoes are fake? Is it really that big of a deal? Maybe you should just forget about it. If other people are making fun of him for having fake shoes, they really have a problem. – Mike |
