24、Recycling is a way to take trash and turn it into new products. There are a number of different recycling processes that allow materials to be used more than once.

All kinds of materials can be recycled. Some of the most common processes in use today involve（牵涉） recycling plastic, glass, metals, paper, electronics and so on. Items made of these materials include soda cans, plastic boxes, newspapers, old computers, and cardboard boxes.

There are many steps in recycling. It isn’t actually a simple process and is different for each type of material. For example, paper starts its recycling process by being mixed with water and other chemicals to break it down. This process finally turns the paper into a pulp(纸浆). Then remove the plastics and other useless materials from the pulp. After that, it gets cleaned. Now the pulp is ready to be made into new paper.

25、My name is Jacqueline and I went abroad for the first time when I was 18. I travelled to the UK to study English, but I didn’t learn to speak well. The main reason was that I made friends with other French people, so I spent too much time speaking French. It’s important to make English friends and to spend a lot of time with your English host family. If they have young children, it’s even better. The children in my host family were great teachers.

Another reason was that I was worried about making mistakes when I spoke, so I didn’t say much. But you shouldn’t worry. English people are usually polite and helpful. You can’t learn to speak English if you don’t talk. You should leave your dictionary at home and say what you can.

26、   Well today it happened ... A day we never want to happen but continually prepare for throughout the school year.

We had a tornado (龙卷风) touch down near the school. I wasn't even in the classroom when it happened. I had taken a student with me to the workroom to help get things for a project. When the sirens (警报器) went off, I immediately held my student's hand and ran as fast as I could back to the classroom.

Never did I imagine the way would feel. Along with other teachers, we tried our best to comfort our students, make sure of their safety and promise them everything would be alright, when we truly didn’t know what the result would be. Today has taken a toll (造成损害) on me, as I am sure it has on the hundreds and thousands of teachers in the local areas. But at the same time, I am really proud and surprised at how my students handled themselves today. In such a scary and dangerous situation, my students handled themselves with the attitudes of children much older than them.

Never in my life have I seen my students follow directions so quickly. Even though some tears were shed, some hearts were beating fast, my students were brave. They had such an unshaking trust in my assistant and myself that they were able to be 100% calm the whole time. I am truly grateful.

Tomorrow will bring a new set of challenges and will be a day used to encourage and prepare the students for the next time this might happen .Right now, look back on the day, being thankful for everyone's safety, courage and bravery.
