  • 25、Years ago, if a teenager had some problems in his life, he might write about them in his diary. Now a teenager might surf the Internet and write about his problems in his blog (博客). In some ways, a diary and a blog are almost the same. What makes a blog different from a diary?

The biggest difference is that a blog is much more public (公开) than a diary. I have a younger sister. Sometimes I read her blog. She writes about her things like getting up early for swimming practice and not studying enough for her chemistry exam. When I was her age, I wrote about the same things, but only in my diary. After I finished writing, I would put my diary in a secret place because I was worried that someone else might read it.

A blog is public so it has some bad points. The biggest problem is that anyone can read what you write. If I am angry with a friend during school and write something bad about him in my diary, he will never know. However, if my sister writes something bad about a friend, that friend may read her blog and cry. So we must be very careful to write.

Blogs have good points, of course. If I feel lonely and write “Nobody cares about me” in my diary, no one will know about it. However, if my sister writes the same words in her blog, her friends will quickly reply and tell her how much they like her. A blog helps people keep in contact (联系) with their friends.

If people are careful, writing blogs is really a good way to communicate with others. However, I still enjoy my diary.

【1】What’s the bad point of blogs?

    A.People can’t open your blog.

B.Anyone can read what you write.

C.You can’t talk with others in your biog.

D.People will be sad after reading your biog.

【2】What will happen if a girl writes she is sad in her blog?

A.No one will know about it.

B.She will get a quick reply.

C.Her parents will go to see her.

    D.Her friends will cry.

【3】What can’t we know from the passage?

A.A diary is not public for everyone to read.

B.In some ways, a diary is quite different from a biog.

C.Writing blogs helps us to keep in contact with friends.

D.The writer’s sister wants to be a pilot in the future.

【4】What does the passage mainly tell us?

A.How to make friends by writing blogs.

B.The reasons why the writer likes diaries.

C.How to keep your secrets in your diary.

D.The good points and bad points of blogs.

  • 27、“Dreams may be more important than sleep. We all need dreams,” some scientists say.

Dreams take up about one quarter of our sleeping time. People have a few dreams each night. Dreams are like short films. They are usually in colour. Some dreams are like old films. They come to us over and over again. That may be because the dreamer is thinking about something. Dreaming may be a way of trying to find an answer.

Some people get new ideas about their work from dreams. They may think about their work all day. These ideas can carry over into dreams.

Sometimes we wake up with a good feeling from a dream. But often we can’t remember the dream. Dreams can go away quickly.

Too much dreaming cannot be good. The more we sleep, the longer we dream. The mind is hard at work when we dream. That is why we may have a long sleep and still wake up tired.

【1】To sleep may be less important than to ________

    A. think B. dream   C. work   D. study

【2】 Dreams and films are usually ________

    A. very long B. in colour   C. about work   D. very sad

【3】Why do some people often dream about their work?

    A. Because they are tired in the daytime.

    B. Because they are not interested in their work.

    C. Because they may think about their work all day.

    D. Because they have too much work to do.

【4】Which of the following is NOT true?

    A. Dreams may be helpful to people sometimes.

    B. Too much dreaming may be bad for people.

    C. People always remember their dreams quickly.

    D. People sometimes wake up tired if they have a lot of dreams while sleeping.

【5】The story mainly tell us ___________.

    A. what dreams are

    B. people like sleep

    C. dreams are like films

    D. we always remember dreams

五、短文填空 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 28、   When you're sitting in class, have you ever drawn pictures in the margins(边缘) of your notebooks? If so, your teacher may have told you to stop 1 them. Many people think of doodling (涂鸦)as distraction(精神涣散) from more important things 2 it might be just the opposite.

Some people realize that drawing may help you remember things you hear. In 2019 researchers asked two 3 of people to listen to a phone message and then gave them the same task of remembering the information from it. The researchers encouraged one group to doodle, but not the 4 . At last, the group that doodled remembered 29 percent more.

Other people have found other uses for doodling.

Jesse Prinz, a professor who studies doodling, says it can help you think creatively. Walking away from a problem to draw might actually help you 5 it. When you come back, you will have a fresh idea and work out an answer more quickly.

Two years ago, an author named Sunni Brown wrote a book on doodling. Many people regard doodling 6 doing nothing, but 7 she doesn't think so. She argues that in fact, doodling is a tool that can help people think, it isn't useless at all. Through doing experiments(实验), Brown shows doodling incorporates (整合) many ways of learning. You use four ways seeing, hearing, reading or writing through doodling. The 8 ways you use, the better you learn. And when you doodle while you are listening to lecture(讲座), you use all four.

You might think that being good at drawing is important for doodling. But if doodling is to help you think, it doesn't matter what the picture looks like. So next time you need help to focus, pick up pen and doodle away.
