二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、   When my family moved to the United States from Colombia, I was 9 years old and knew little about English. As time passed, teachers finally knew all of their students and slowly everyone began to head inside, except for me. No one called out my name, and no one seemed to know I existed. I spent the next month in my new classroom quietly. I felt a wave of fear, loneliness and sadness came over me.

It turned out the school administration never cared that I didn't speak English, but something else was teaching me English. Every morning when my aunt drove me to school and picked me up, she always had 106.7 Light FM on. It was this station that introduced my young ears to the English sounds of R&B, soul, jazz and much more.

Because of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, I learned the difference between "witch" and "which". While watching the TV show South Park, I was attracted by the funny characters. I related "You bastards!” to anger and saved it in my mental word bank. In fact, thanks to pop culture, the world of English became not so hard to me while it was being turned down at school.

I also learned how to express my emotions thanks to pop culture. One day at school, we were taking a math quiz and the whole class was quiet. Suddenly, the tip of my pencil broke and I yelled, “You bastards!" Everyone held their breath in surprise and I laughed to myself because something at that moment told me I had just learned my first bad word in English.

Four months passed before the school placed me into an ESL program. By this time, I was speaking broken English and making myself understood. Finally, I learned how to speak and write English at a more advanced level, and I owe it all to pop culture.

1Why did the author feel sad when she moved to the US?

    A. She missed her hometown. B. She was ignored at school

    C. She was blamed for poor grades. D. She hated learning a new language.

2How did the author first learn English?

    A. By talking with her aunt. B. By working in radio stations.

    C. By listening to English songs. D. By making friends with her classmates.

3How did the author feel after realizing she yelled “You bastards!”?

    A. Happy. B. Annoyed.

    C. Surprised. D. Nervous.

4What can be the best title for this passage?

    A. My life experiences in the U.S B. How I fell in love with music

    C. Pop culture taught me English D. How I overcame learning difficulties

  • 22、Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (孤独症) is a disability that can cause serious social, communication and behavioral problems. There is often nothing about how people with ASD look that makes them different from other people, but people with ASD may communicate, interact, behave, and learn in ways that are different from most other people. The learning, thinking, and problem-solving abilities of people with ASD can range from pretty good to extremely bad. Some people with ASD need a lot of help in their daily lives; others need less.

People with ASD often have problems with social, emotional, and communication skills. They might repeat certain behaviors and might not want change in their daily activities. Many people with ASD may also have difficulties learning, paying attention, or reacting to things. Signs of ASD begin during early childhood and probably last throughout a person’s life.

Diagnosing(诊断)ASD can be difficult since there is no medical test, like a blood test, to assess the disorders. Doctors look at the child’s behavior and development to make a judgement.ASD can sometimes be diagnosed at 18 months or younger. By age 2, an experienced doctor can be considered very reliable in diagnosing ASD .However, many children may not see a doctor until much older.

There is currently no cure for ASD. However, research shows that early treatment services can improve a child’s development.Early services help children from birth to 3 years old (36 months) learn important skills. Therefore, it is important to talk to your child’s doctor as soon as possible if you think your child has ASD or other developmental problem.

We do not know all of the causes of ASD. However, Most scientists agree that genes are one of the highest risk factors that can make a person more likely to develop ASD.

If you think your child might have ASD or you think there could be a problem with the way your child plays, learns, speaks, or acts, contact your child’s doctor, and share your concerns. If you’re not sure who to contact, call the Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center (ECTA) at 919-962-2001. Or visit the ECTA website: https://etcacenter.org.

  • 23、Alibaba started taking the lead in China, simply enough, by connecting big Chinese manufacturers(制造商)with big buyers across the world. Its business-to-business site, Alibaba.com allowed business to buy almost everything. Alibabas advantage wasnt hard to identify: size. Alibaba is just big, even by Chinese standards. Its marketplaces attract 231 million active buyers, 8 million sellers, 11.3 billion orders a year—and Alibaba is just the middleman. It encourages people to use its markets—not charging small sellers a percentage of the sale.

If you want a quick look into the influence of Alibaba on daily Chinese life, take my experience. I moved to Beijing almost a year ago and quickly got tired of visiting small stores across the crowded, polluted city of 20 million people in search of new electronics, bathroom furnishings, and anything else my wife wanted. “You’re looking for what exactly? Why not try it? ” my Chinese teacher asked me one day. With that, my wonderful new relationship with Alibaba began.

Alibabas original business-to-business model now is secondary to(对来说是次要的) consumer buying. Chinese retail(零售)buying makes up 80% of Alibabas profit, and leading that group is Taobao, with 800 million items for sale and the most unbelievable selection of things you’ll ever find. TMall.com is Alibaba’s other big site, where you can find brand name goods from Nike and Unilever near the lowest prices.

What I have a hard time explaining to friends and family back in the U.S. is how China has gone beyond traditional shopping—big-box retailers especially —in favor of online purchases on Taobao and a few other sites. In smaller towns than Beijing, where big retailers have not yet traveled, shopping online is shopping, and shopping is Taobao.

I have a list of some of my recent purchases on Taobao for a sense of how extensive(广大) the marketplace is. Almost everything arrived a day or two after ordering with free shipping. Im not even a big buyer, because I need friends to help me search the Chinese-language site. When I was searching my purchase history on my Chinese teacher’s iPad, which helps me buy goods, I looked through with great difficulty about 10 of her purchases for every one of mine.

【1】What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 2 refer to?

    A. Alibaba   B. a new store

2What can be inferred from the passage?

    A. The author’s Chinese teacher is also an online purchase lover.

    B. Taobao has no obvious advantage over other similar online sites.

    C. Alibaba’s business-to-business service earns more money than retail now.

    D. TMall.com provides more profit than Taobao.

3 What is the passage mainly about?

    A. Shopping online is TaoBao.

    B. Alibaba greatly influences people’s daily purchase in China.

    C. The influence of shopping online  goes beyond traditional shopping.

    D. How the author purchases online in China.

4What can we learn from the underlined sentence in the passage refer to?

    A. Alibaba acts as a bridge between buyers and sellers.

    B. Alibaba will continue to develop.

    C. Alibaba stands out as the best online site.

    D. Alibaba is of middle size among all the online sites.

In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Rihanna revealed(透露)new details about the kind of music she plans to record for her upcoming album, named "R9." 四、书面表达 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 26、阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要

Change is an unavoidable part of everyday life. It happens as time passes or as a consequence of one's decision. Changes may be positive or negative depending on how we understand them. Whereas some people are happy to live a life of routine, others accept change and prefer a challenging world where events are unpredictable

From one point of view, people who accept changes think that changes make their life meaningful. Firstly, changes create new opportunities, which make us leap forward. A new job, for instance, might present challenges that push the person to adapt, acquire new knowledge, or add to their skill set. Secondly, a change can represent a break with the past and an old routine which has become boring and predictable. Finally, as well as making life more fun and interesting, new experiences can be good for our physical and mental health. We find that changes can make us experienced and valuable

On the other hand, people who don't want to step outside their comfort zone prefer following their daily habits. They feel satisfied with their circumstances. Perhaps they feel that a routine gives them structure, maybe they are not fond of surprises or confident enough to face new challenges. They believe that staying secure and maintaining the present circumstances is the best way to live life safer. Such people have set times for performing certain functions and do things in the same way all the time. They fear the uncertainty of the unknown and may associate change with negative outcomes. For example, transition in position or status gives people worries as to whether they can   manage a new task

Both sides seem to have their own advantages. However, I personally think change is necessary if someone wants to keep up with the fast pace of modem life. Even if some people maintain a form of stability by following a routine, the world keeps spinning and evolving. Without change there would be no life at all. Our lives are actually fueled by change and seeing change as natural and unavoidable will bring us considerable stress relief.
