In the future, more and more people will have cars, so the cars will be in great need. But the oil won’t keep up with the number of cars on the road. So the price of oil will go up.
Electric cars aren’t perfect just yet. It can take eight hours to charge(充电) a car for only 100 miles of driving. How far that car travels depends on the weather and traffic.
Price is a problem, too. Electric cars cost much more than cars using oil. The good news is that electric-car technology(技术) is getting better. As it does, the prices of this kind of cars are going down.
To charge the car, the US Department of Energy is paying for at least 10,000 charging stations around the country. And it will cost about three dollars for each charge.
Now carmakers are looking for other ways to make the car cheaper. Then more people will use electric cars, and we’ll have a clean and nice world in the future.

26、 Food waste is a big problem. About one-quarter of the world’s food is unharvested or thrown away.
Some food suppliers want to stop food waste. They have promised to cut their food waste by half before 2030. They have joined a special project. The project is called 10×20×30. Companies from many countries are taking part. Nearly 200 food suppliers have signed up for 10×20×30. A lot of food suppliers are big companies.
Food waste is bad for the environment. It causes climate change. Climate change is also called global warming. Climate change is caused by greenhouse gases. These gases come from the burning of natural fuels like oil, gas and wood. Making food produces greenhouse gases. It would help the environment if we only made the food we need.
It is not just big companies that create waste. People waste a lot of food, too. ReFED is a nonprofit(非盈利)company. It is working to end food waste. Scientists at ReFED studied where food is most often wasted. The study showed that about 15% of waste happens on farms and producers waste about 2% of food. About 43% food waste happens at home. And 40% food is wasted by restaurants. So waste occurs(发生)throughout the supply chain(链), with nearly 85% occurring at consumer-facing(面向消费者的)businesses and homes.
Brian Roe teaches at Ohio State University. He works to stop food waste. He says there are a lot of ways to reduce food waste. Producers can do more. They can even stop people from throwing food away. Smaller serving sizes would help. They could also put more information on the packets. Roe says it is a good thing that big food producers want to help. He’s hoping the companies can work together. If they work as a team, they will be able to do more. They can help each other learn what’s working. They can tell each other what’s not working, too. This will keep more food out of landfills in the end.

According to a 2018 study from San Francisco State University, nearly 2. 4 billon people around the world used a smartphone in 2017. By the end of 2018, more than a third of the global population will be using a smartphone.
However, smartphone technology can be a double-edged sword (双刃剑). On the one hand, it sends us lots of information. On the other hand, using a smartphone may become an addiction (瘾).
Erik Peper and Richard Harvey are both health education professors at San Francisco State University. They led the study. Peper explains that smartphone addiction forms connections in the brain that are similar to drug addiction (毒瘾). And these connections form slowly over time. Also, addiction to social media may affect (影响) our emotional state (情绪). The two professors asked 135 university students about their habit of smartphone use and their feelings. They found that students who used their phones were feeling lonelier and more nervous.
Peper and Harvey don't blame (责怪) users for their technology addiction. The researchers warn that workers in the technology industry know how to control our brains and turn us into addicts.
But the researchers say that we can train our brains to be less addicted to our phones and computers. Erik Peper suggests turning off our phones before we sleep or do something important. The researchers also suggest taking control of when and where you answer texts or emails. You don't need to answer them all. And you certainly don't need to answer them as soon as you get them. They also suggest setting limits (设限) on the time you spend.
【1】What can we infer from Paragraph ?

C.It's preferred by young people feeling lonely. D.It can harm students' emotional state in many ways.

A.Social media isn't that important to us. B.We can train our brains to do many things.
