25、There are many colours in nature. But do you know that a colour has weight? I think you’ll say “no”. But I am afraid you are wrong. If you don’t believe, you may do a small experiment(实验).
First, put two objects with the same weight into two boxes. Then cover the boxes. Wrap(包裹) one box with a red piece of paper, the other with a white piece of paper. Now hold the boxes with your hand one by one. It is certain that you will think the red one is a little heavier.
Why does it happen? A scientist found that different colours have different weight in a man’s mind. So he did many tests and at last he got the result. That is to say, every colour has its own weight in our mind. The heaviest colour is red, then blue, green, orange, yellow and white. The scientists told us that colours also have smell. Can you smell the colour? Of course not. Then why did the scientists say so? That is because every colour represents a kind of light wave(光波)------ a certain wavelength(波长). It reaches our brain(大脑) through organs(感觉器官)
According to this discovery, scientists say that people accept the colour they like, andrefusethe colour they hate. So your body and mind will be healthy by using the colours you like. Or you’ll be nervous or even get ill. If you stay in a room with red windows, wallpapers and furniture(家具) for two hours, you’ll feel you have been there for four hours. But if the room is blue, you’ll feel you have been there for only one hour. Another example, if a person walks out of a red room and into a blue room, his temperature will fall. That means our body temperature will change when we see different colours.

【3】What will happen when you get into a cool coloured room from a warm coloured room?
A. You will feel excited.

【4】According to the passage, how long will you feel if you stay in a red room for an hour?

C. Six hours D. Eight hours.
26、 In order to tell you what I believe, I must bring up something from my personal history.
The turning point of my life was my decision to give up my business job and study music. My parents, although sharing my love of music, didn't think it was a good choice that I took up music as a job. Considering my family background, this was understandable. My grandfather had taught music for nearly forty years at Spring Hill College in Mobile, and though he was much loved by his students, he didn't earn(挣钱) enough to provide for his large family. As a result of this example in the family, my parents strongly asked me to go to the college instead of a conservatory(音乐学院) of music although I loved my violin and spent most of my spare time practicing.
Before my graduation from Columbia, the family ran into some money problems and I felt it was my duty to leave college and take a job. That was why I took a business job, which I always think of as the wasted years. I went into it for money, for being able to help the family. Money is all I go out of it. It was not enough. I felt that life was passing me by.
My wish was to save enough to quit(退出) and then go to Europe to study music. I continued to make money, and finally, bit by bit, I earned enough to make myself able to go abroad. The family got out of the trouble and ________. I felt like a free man and sailed for Europe. I stayed for four years, worked harder than I had ever dreamed of working and enjoyed every minute of it.
“Enjoyed” is too soft a word. I_walked_on_air. I really lived. When I broke away from business, it was against the advice of all my friends and family, but if I had stayed in business, I do not believe I would have made a success of living.
【1】The writer presented his grandpa's example in order to ________.

C.explain why his parents disagreed him to take up music as a job

27、 Do you believe that you aren’t smarter than 3-year-old Alexis Martin, one of the youngest members of the high IQ club Mensa? Preschooler (学龄前的) Alexis’s IQ(智商)is 159, which is only one point lower than Stephen Hawking(霍金)’s. Doctors say the average IQ of a person is about 100.
She learned to read at the age of 2. She reads at a fifth grade level and has taught herself Spanish on her parents’ iPad! Now, she is a member of the Mensa Club, which only accepts people with an IQ within the top two percent of people in the world!
Alexis’ father, Ian Martin, said he first realized Alexis was special when she was 12 months old. She could recite (背诵)bedtime stories. “We’d be driving around in the car and she would recite her bedtime stories from the night before. She didn’t just recite them, and she recited them exactly.”
Alexis’ father would try to trick her and say that her story went a different way, but she always corrected him. Most 12-month-old children take their first steps on their own and most 18-month-olds can only name a small number of objects and body parts, and follow simple two-step questions. Even though Alexis is a genius (天才), her parents are faced with lots of challenges (挑战)like how to teach her to make friends of her own age.
