Twenty years of plans. Twenty years of wondering. Twenty years and our spaceship was about to arrive. What will we find? Was the information we were given correct? As the captain of the spaceship, I would soon know.
Where are we? We are coming to the nearest star to the sun. It takes 4 light years to go to this star. We have taken almost twenty years. We have the largest spaceship that has ever been built.
We had a simple way of traveling. We learned from bears how to sleep for a long time without getting sick or dying. We should sleep for eleven months. We would work for one month. Then we would go back to sleep for eleven months. I found it unusual to have my calendar(日历) always read March. That was the month I was awake. I have lived in the month of March for the last twenty years.
Here we are. We are coming near to this new star. There is a planet that is supposed to be like earth here. Will it be? Will we be able to live here?
I have to get busy now. We will start to wake up all of the other people. They will also want to see this. We have people from every place on earth. Think of all that we will get to see here. This is something to really get excited about.
I have to go. Have a good day. Wish us good luck.

25、 It's time for school! But on May 14th, 170 students at Duncanville High School in Texas, US, were told to go back home.
Why? Because they were wearing the wrong clothes to school.
Schools in the US don’t always ask students to wear uniforms. But they have dress codes (着装要求). For example, Duncanville High School tells students to wear belts, shirts without logos (标识).
Schools’ most-hated (最讨厌的) clothes are different.
In 2011, the saggy ( 松垮 的 ) trousers law was passed in Florida. It stops students from wearing trousers that show body parts.
Now, "the favorite new target ( 目 标 ) of the school dress code" is leggings( 紧 身 裤 ), reported the Associated Press. Some schools don't allow leggings. Other schools ask students to wear a shirt or a skirt over leggings.
Some students complain (抱怨) that schools are going too far(做得太过分) .
But schools say dress codes help protect students’ safety and make sure they grow up with good taste (有良好的鉴赏力).
"We want to teach them that they must meet the expectations (期望) not only here in school, but also outside school," said Andre Smith.

Have you ever wondered if the cold you have is really a common cold or the flu? Most people don’t know the differences between them. Here’s some information about colds and the flu.
| A Cold | The Flu |
Progress | It takes a couple of days to build up. You may have a sore throat on Monday, and then have a headache on Wednesday. | It usually starts suddenly. Patients can clearly tell the time when the flu hits them—after lunch or yesterday afternoon, for example. |
Temperature | Commonly, the temperature rises to around 37.2℃ or 37.7℃ and doesn’t have big changes. | The body temperature is usually much higher—at least 38.3℃. Feeling cold and body aches are flu signs. |
Life | People often keep on their common life as usual and get out of bed for work or other social activities. | Putting on much isn’t enough, and you still feel very cold. Dragging yourself out of bed can seem impossible. You usually feel tired and sleepy. |
Results | You may have a runny nose and cough from a head cold. (伤风) | It can cause a lot of coughing and even trouble in breathing. |
“Each year tens of thousands of people die of flu,” D. Yul Ejnes says. And the flu vaccine (疫苗) can help prevent it. Of course, it’s best to get your flu vaccine at the beginning of the flu season—usually in the fall.

27、Honesty comes in many forms. First there’s self-honesty. Is what people see the real article or do you appear through smoke and mirrors? I find that if I try to be something I’m not, I feel unsure of myself and take out a part from my PBA (personal bank account). I love how singer Judy Garland put it, “Always be a first-class version (版本) of yourself, instead of a second-class version of somebody else.”
Then there’s honesty in our actions. Are you honest at school, with your parents, and with your boss? If you’ve ever been dishonest, I think we all have. Try being honest, and notice how well it makes you feel. Remember, you can’t do wrong and feel right. This story by Jeff is a good example of that: In my second year of study, there were three kids in my math class who didn’t do well. I was really good at it. I would charge them three dollars for each test that I helped them pass. I’d write on a little piece of paper all the right answers, and hand them off.
At first I felt like I was making money, kind of a nice job. I wasn’t thinking about how it could hurt all of us. After a while I realized I shouldn’t do that anymore, because I wasn’t really helping them. They weren’t learning anything, and it would only get harder down the road. Cheating certainly wasn’t helping me.
It takes courage to be honest when people all around you are getting away with cheating on tests, lying to their parents, and stealing at work. But, remember, every act of honesty is a deposit (储蓄) into your PBA and will build strength.

【3】What does the author expect to show by Jeff’s story?
A. Honesty can be of great help.
B. A bad thing can be turned into a good one.
C. Helping others cheat can do good to nobody.
D. One should realize the wrong in his bad deeds.
【4】In the last paragraph the author mainly wants to express ______.
