24、Food safety is important and it doesn’t end at our door. Eating food not kept correctly could make you fall sick. The fridge may be a perfect choice for keeping food safe and fresh, but it is not a magic box to keep all kinds of food. Follow these tips and lean how to store food correctly in your fridge.
The temperature in the fresh-keeping area can be different from shelf to shelf. As a general rule, the higher the shelf is, the higher the temperature will be. So make use of these different temperatures to get the best out of your food by storing it on the right shelf. Try to put ready-to-eat food like burgers, pizza or cream cakes on top shelves.
The middle shelves are most suitable for dairy products (乳制品) such as cheese, butter, yogurt and eggs. Bottom shelves are the coldest part of the fridge, making them perfect for storing raw (生的) meat and seafood. Some fridges have a freezer (冷冻室) for keeping these things, so of course make use of that if you have one.
Keeping food in the fridge does not kill bacteria (细菌) but it can stop the bacteria from growing fast. Bacteria can grow quickly in temperatures between 5℃ and 60℃. This is called the Temperature Danger Zone. If you want to get the most out of your food, the temperature in your fridge needs to be between 0℃ and 5℃. The freezer temperature should be below -18℃.
Fruit and vegetables can also be stored at room temperature. Try to keep them in a cool, dry and dark place, away from direct sunlight or sources of heat. Once cut, they should be put in the fridge.
Everyone should pay attention to food safety. Hope these tips can help you keep your food fresh for as long as possible.

“Add oil,” a popular Chinese phrase has been officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED 牛津英语词典).
“Add oil” is a direct English translation of the Chinese phrase “jiayou”, an exclamation used very often across China to express encouragement or support for someone else. The phrase, “jiayou” in Chinese, literally (字面上) means put petrol to an engine. Chinese often speak it loudly in games and competitions to encourage players.
It was Hugo Tseng, an English professor at Taiwan’s Soochow University, who first noticed the entry (条目). Tseng said excitedly that for more than 10 years he had been often checking for the phrase following each OED quarterly update (更新).
Long before, a number of other Chinese phrases have been included in the OED, such as Guanxi (personal connections that are good for business) and Lucky money (cash given in red envelopes).
In 2014, the American Urban Dictionary(城市词典) collected several Chinese internet buzzwords, such as “no zuo no die” (which translates into English as “if you don’t do stupid things, they won’t come back and bite you in the back”), “you can you up, no can no BB” (which means “if you can do it you should go on and do it, instead of criticizing others’ work”).
The process for adding new words to the Oxford English Dictionary is as follows.
• Dictionary compilers(编著者) notice a word’s widespread and repeated use by people.
• Degree of shared use and easy understanding will influence the consideration.
• Qualifying buzzwords from different languages are placed on a “watch list” for consideration.
• New additions first appear in the dictionary’s official web databank before hard copies are printed. The online version(版本) is renewed every three months. The next update is in December.
【1】When Chinese speak “jiayou” loudly in games, it doesn’t mean________.
A.encouraging the runners to catch up

C.adding energy to the cars
【2】How might Professor Hugo Tseng feel when he noticed “add oil” was collected into the OED?

A.no zuo no die B.Lucky money C.Guanxi

27、 New research suggests that climate change helped dogs develop from animals looking like cats to the way they are today. Scientists from Brown University in the USA believe that 40 million years ago, dogs were smaller and they looked like cats. They hid, ran after and killed other animals. As climate changed in the world, the physique(体型) and eatinghabits of dogs also changed. Thick forests that once covered North America started to become less thick as the earth became cooler.
The appearance of grassland made dogs have fewer places to hide to hunt for food. To get used to the environment, they changed their ways of hunting and slowly grew longer legs. The scientists studied how dogs have changed themselves by looking at the elbows (肘部) and teeth of 32 different species that lived from 2 million to 40 million years ago. The scientists said that the dogs' Bows greatly changed. Dogs from 40 million years ago had elbows that were more similar to those of cats. The function of the elbows was to allow the front paws (爪子)to catch what they could get and hold on to it.
