The little boy was so surprised to see everything. “Dad, the train is moving and the things are moving backwards out of the window”. He shouted at his father. A fruit seller went past selling apples. His father bought him some apples. “Oh, the apple looks much sweeter than it tastes,” the little boy said. “Is your son having any problem? Why is he so different?” one of the young men asked. Another young man made fun of him. “His son is mad. I think!” he shouted. “My son was born blind. Only a few days ago, he had an operation. 26、①Qinqiang Opera is one of the carliest forms of opera in China. It started from the ancient folk songs and dances of the Han people in Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. According to historical records, the local opera dates all the way back to the Qin Dynasty. Qinqiang Opera shows the daily life and feelings of ancient Chinese people. In 2006, Qinqiang Opera was added to national intangible heritage list (非物质文化遗产名录).
②Hou Yan, 48, the master of Qinqiang Opera started learning it from her mother when she was 4 years old. Training in the basic skills of Qinqiang Opera is very challenging. In 1985, Hou studied at an art school in Ningxia where teachers were very strict with students. Leg stretching (伸展), waist bending (弯曲) and somersaults (翻筋斗) were just some of her daily training routines. Her hard work paid off. Hou became a performer with a troupe (剧团) at the age of 16.
③But since 1993, the sweeping trend (趋势) of pop and Western music has hit Qinqiang Opera hard. The troupe was closed and Hou had no choice but to leave the opera stage she loved.

Hou returned to the stage in 2000 and devoted herself to the opera form. “I knew I’d planted my roots on the opera stage,” said Hou. 27、Micro blogs like Weibo are nothing new for the young Chinese. A newspaper in Chengdu did a survey last month. It found that 90 percent of junior high school students use micro blogs.
They give students an outlet (出口) for emotion. “I use micro blogs to record my life. I let everyone ‘see’ my feelings and complaints (抱怨),” said Liu Fangyue, 14, from Xiamen No. 1 Middle School. They have fun with classmates even after school. “I would send a message to praise someone who came first in the exam,” said Liu.
Teachers also join in the fun. “When I sit down to talk to my students, they may not tell me their real thoughts,” said Lu Dongping at Nanning No. 2 Middle School. “But on micro blogs, they are more relaxed. They even make fun of me.”

“Micro blogs widen students’ perspectives (观点), but there are rules to follow,” said Shi Zhongying, a professor from Beijing Normal University. He shares some of them with micro bloggers.

The Waste of Worry
Do you remember being afraid of monsters at night as a child? But as you grow up, you know that there are no monsters, right? We always have f【1】 and worries about things that are not real. The crazy thing is that worry and fear make you r【2】 from something that isn’t even chasing you.
England’s former Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, said that whenever he started to worry, he’d remember a man who said on his death bed “I’ve had a lot of t【3】 in my life—and most of it never h【4】!” You see, it’s not work that kills people, but worry.
When you fear the future, you’re w【5】 the presents. Worry seems like a rocking chair: it k【6】 you going, but you don’t get anywhere! And if you can’t help worrying, remember that worrying can’t help you e【7】.
If you’re fearful, you’ll find something to be fearful about. That’s w【8】 the former American President, Franklin Roosevelt, said: “The o【9】 thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
Many of us are afraid of what others think; but if we knew how s【10】 they think about us, we’d know we needn’t worry.
So whatever you’re afraid of or worrying about, ask yourself, “Is it real? And if it is real, how will worrying about it help me? Is it something I can change? If not, how can I best deal with it?”
