25、 Many years ago, on my first day of college, a roommate of mine turned to me for help. He took a bottle of soda out of his bag. The lid, was too tight. I (quite easily) opened it for him.
One week later, we started to receive military training (军训). We had to gather (集合), I was still in dreamland at 5: 20.That roommate of mine woke me up. I sincerely (诚挚地) thanked him. Luckily, neither of us was late for that day’s training.
Later that day, I had a chat with that roommate. I said that we were no longer just classmates; we had already become friends .Perhaps, we didn’t have to mind our p’s and q’s so much around each other. He thought over my words and nodded. Over the next four years, we continued to help each other quite often.
I always feel thankful when someone offers me a helping hand. But I was often too shy to say thank you out loud. And I always felt embarrassed (尴尬的) whenever someone thanked me for a small favor (帮忙).
After I started to work, however, my attitude towards thanks changed. A thank you is often just a polite ending to a conversation. However, it is important. Saying thanks directly lets the other side know that I am thankful. It also makes the office a lovelier place.
Thanks is a powerful word. Whenever you feel thankful, say it.
