25、You know how much your telephone has changed over the past 10 years? Your car will change even more than that in the next 10 years. One of the biggest changes is that cars will drive themselves.
"We certainly have the technology for it now." says Andrew Poliak of automotive(机动车辆的)technology supplier QNX ."We expect self-driving cars to be a mainstream(主流)thing between 2020 and 2025."
The American company Google has been working on self-driving cars for years. These cars are already on the roads in the United States and are truly self-driving. Last week, the police ordered one of Google's cars to stop for driving too slowly on a public road. The car was not breaking any law, so no one was punished.
Another American company, Tesla, added an "Autopilot" feature(特点) to its cars last month. With the Autopilot turned on, the vehicle drives itself. The car will speed up, slow down, brake(刹车) and drive by itself. You can take control of driving any time by turning the steering wheel or touching a pedal. The car uses sensors(感应器)to know when driveway changing is safe and whether it should speed up or slow down.
Tesla Autopilot is made for cross-country driving. It keeps you in the driveway and helps you avoid hitting other cars. It does not work well on local roads, for it will not stop at a red light or stop sign.
Reporter Carolyn Nicander Mohr tried the Autopilot feature(特点) of a Tesla earlier this month. She had a hard time trusting the car to do what it should do. She thought about canceling the Autopilot feature many times during her trip. She wanted to take control at every corner in the road and hit the brake when the car in front of her slowed down. However, the car drove perfectly itself.
Other companies like Marcedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Volvo and Toyota are all working on self-driving cars, too.
【1】What do Andrew Poliak's words probably mean? ______
A. It is too difficult for people to make self-driving cars now.

C. There will be more self-driving cars in use in the near future.

B. The Tesla’s car with Autopilot feature can sense traffic lights in front of it.
C. Tesla Autopilot car worked much better than Reporter Carolyn expected.
D. Tesla Autopilot is made for cross-country driving as well as local-road driving.
【3】Which word has the same meaning as “autopilot” ______ .

26、When Albert Einstein was one year old, his family moved to the city of Munich in Germany. There ,his sister, Maja, was born. Albert expected a little sister to be like a toy. But Maja had no wheels like his other toys. Where are its wheels? He asked his parents, clearly disappointed with the new baby.
The where-less little girl, however, quickly became Albert 's best friend. As they grew older, Albert and Maia loved to take long walks and hikes. Often their cousins came with them. The higher the hill, the better Albert could think.
One these thinking hikes, his used his compass*,and though more about how mysterious the world was. He would lie on his back in the grass, look at the sky, and think about space. Is anything farther away than space? How fast would somebody have to go to get there? How does light get all the way from those stars to your eyes? How far does space go on? Could you ride on a beam of light? Is anything bigger than the universe?
It was as if Albert had been born to think. His father and uncles helped guide his thinking. His sister and cousins encouraged his thinking hikes. Albert found books to help him work out math and science problems. And his mother introduced him to music, which engaged his mind in a way that books could not. 28、Going on holidays is best choice for the Europeans to relax themselves, especially in the UK. However, much has changed during the past decades(几十年).
One of the most traditional British holidays was the “seaside holiday”. Families got on a train or into a car and traveled to seaside towns nearby to sunbathe on the beach, buy ice-creams and eat fish and chips and so on.
In the late 1970s, more and more British people started traveling to other countries in Europe for their summer holidays (July-August) because the weather wasn’t very good, even in summer. The “package holiday” was particularly popular with most families.
In the 1980s and 1990s, young people in the UK became wealthier, so many of them traveled to countries all over the world for their holidays.
These years, especially after the world financial crisis(金融危机), most British people can not afford to spend their holidays abroad. They again begin to choose to stay in their own home and go on a few day trips rather than spending money on hotels. They call this sort of vacation a “staycation”.
