24、It was a week before I saw Captain Nemo again. Every morning, I noticed fresh air coining into the rooms, and I knew that the Nautilus had surfaced (浮出水面). I would go out and see the sunrise. Then, I received a note from Captain Nemo. He invited me and my friends to go hunting with him in the forests of Crespo Island. Ned was excited. He thought there might be a chance to run away. I was not so sure. When I saw Captain Nemo the next day, I asked him why he was so interested in Crespo Island. “I thought you preferred the sea to being on land. ”
“I do, ” replied the captain. “ But these forests are under the sea.” During breakfast, he explained that he had made diving suits that used special air tanks. These tanks would allow us to stay under the water for ten hours. He had also made lights that worked on electric batteries and an air gun with electric bullets. When Ned realized that we were not going onto land for our hunting trip, he decided not to come at last.
Conseil and I put on our diving suits, and so did Captain Nemo and one of his men. We stepped into a room and closed the door. The room filled with water, and another door opened. We went through it, and we were on the sea floor. It was an amazing experience.

Green is more than just a color. It also means taking special steps to protect the environment. Buying a green product is a small step everyone can take. Deciding whether a product is green, however, isn’t always easy. We need to consider the whole life cycle of the product even after it’s of no use. Here is what we may keep in mind.
The materials of a product are usually our first focus. What is it made of? Are there any harmful chemicals in it? Green products are made of more natural materials which are free from harmful chemicals, so they can be good for our physical health.
Packaging is important. How is a product packaged? Is it over packaged? We’d better choose glass, metal and paper packaging, as these can be reused or more easily recycled. We can also look for less packaging or even choose unbagged products whenever possible.
Location matters. Where was a product produced? Where are we buying it? Think about how much energy was used to get it. To us, try to choose local products. When it comes to food, it is a good idea to order directly from local farmer, shop at markets and buy fruits in season. Buying from stores near our houses is also a good choice, because we can go there without driving a car.
Look into what the company tells us about their product. It’s easy to say that a product is “green” or “all natural” but the words may be too good to be true. So, much of the information about a product should be taken with a grain of salt. After all, companies try to make us believe that their products are environmentally responsible.
The greenest thing is certainly the one we don’t buy. Things like food and clothing are necessary for life. But many others are not. Better than buying is choosing to leave an unnecessary product in the store and doing without. It sends a message to the producer, keeps money in our pockets, reduces waste and keeps the planet healthy.
【1】The writer would suggest choosing a product that is ________.
A.beautifully packaged

26、 What will you do if you come across an English word or phrase you don't know? You'd probably look it up in the dictionary, wouldn't you? This, however, was not the case. Although English has a history of over 2,500 years, the first English dictionary didn't appear until the 17th century.
During the 16th century, Europe saw rich developments in science, medicine and arts. People had to "invent" words to express new ideas. Many new English words were borrowed from foreign language. There was also a renewed interest in ancient languages. Some new English words had roots(根)in languages like Latin and Hebrew.
The general public, however, had difficulty understanding these new words. At that time few girls would go to school. Only rich parents were able to afford professional teachers. Robert Cawdrey, an English schoolteacher, wanted to help. In 1604, he published A Table Alphabetical in London. Cawdrey hoped his dictionary would be able to help more people learn to read and write properly.
But Cawdrey's dictionary was not very dependable. The fist edition had only 120 pages. There were only 2,543 words in it. As Cawdrey's focus was on words "hard for the general public," many common words were not included. And for many words, the explanations(解释)were unclear. Take "loaf" as an example. It explained, "A piece of bread." While in today's dictionary, it reads, "A shaped mass of baked bread that is usually sliced before eating." For some words, Cawdrey used only one word to explain each of them. This made A Table Alphabetical more like a book of synonyms(同义词)than a real dictionary. While readers could check the spelling of some words using the book, they had no way of finding out what these words actually meant.
Although Cawdrey's dictionary had many problems, it was quite popular. As the saying goes, ________." In the year of 1604, people finally had something to help them read more easily!
【1】According to the article, the first English dictionary came out in ________.
A.the early 16th century B.the late 16th century

A.help more girls to be able to go to school
B.help people to understand the new English words
C.help his own students to read and write words properly
D.help people to become interested in learning new things
【3】Paragraph 4 is mainly about the ________ of Cawdrey's dictionary.
A.look B.history C.popularity D.disadvantage
【4】Which of the following is the most suitable(适合的)in the blank in the last paragraph?
A.Practice makes perfect. B.Where there's life, there's hope.
C.It's better to give than to receive. D.Half a loaf is better than no bread.
