21、Muscly Men at Risk for Eating Disorder
When thinking about someone with an eating disorder, many people think of a girl or woman who restricts food. 【1】
According to Dr. Blake Woodside, a professor at the University of Toronto, males will also develop eating disorders if they feel pressure to match a few manly body types that society regards as acceptable.
【2】 In order to achieve perfect figures, some males strictly limit their calorie intake, while others do the opposite and encourage excessive exercise, overloading protein and heavily restricting nutrients like fats, said Murray, director of the Translational Research in Eating Disorders Laboratory. When does an interest in maintaining a certain shape of body become an eating disorder? It happens when a male’s behavior and interactions start to be ruled by the restrictions he is putting into place for his ideal body.
Unfortunately, many families and even family doctors still aren’t familiar with what suggests eating disorders in boys and men, Murray said. So, the first place to start is knowing the signs to look for. 【3】 If, one day, you notice that they suddenly change how much or how publicly they eat, they deserve attention. If the men or boys in your life are making big changes to the activities and relationships in their lives, it might also be time to pay closer attention, Woodside added.
From there, there is both good news and bad news. The bad news? 【4】 So, they have to judge if they are on the mark by themselves, Murray said. But the good news is that men and boys often do well when they go through treatment for their eating disorders.
A.The eating disorder field has to treat males based on studies that include only females.
B.Will a boy or man experience eating disorders in that way too?
C.The best way to help them get into treatment is to share the truth — they are not alone.
D.Men’s response to ideal images is no more reasonable than that of women’s.
E.Teen boys are usually so hungry that they can wolf down every bite of food they see.
F.Disordered eating behavior in men is often criticized in social media.
22、The Model T, created by Henry Ford, changed the way Americans live, work and travel. On October 1, 1908, the Ford Motor Company introduced the Model T. The car came only in black. But at $850, it cost about half as much as other cars on the market. Henry Ford’s great improvement in an automobile assembly line (汽车装配线) made the Model T the first car to be affordable for most Americans. For the first time car ownership became a reality for normal American workers, not just the wealthy.
Assembly-line production allowed the price of the touring car to be lowered from $850 in 1908 to less than $300 in 1925. At that time half of all the cars in the United States were Model Ts. Even before it lost favour to larger and more powerful cars, the Model T, known as the “Tin Lizzie,” had become an American symbol, basically realizing Ford’s goal to “democratize the automobile.”
Henry Ford founded the Ford Motor Company in 1903. At first, Ford built only a few cars a day. Because demand (需求) for Model Ts was so high, Ford developed a way to make more of them without increasing cost. In 1913, he invented a moving assembly line. Workers stood in front of a conveyor belt (传送带), and each completed one step in putting the cars together.
Ford’s method of mass production changed life in the U.S. More people could travel. Highways grew. The Ford Motor Company stopped making the Model T in 1927. But the automotive lifestyle had taken hold of America. Today, the race is on to make cars more efficient and to find green energy to power them. Will inventors with Ford’s creativity bring the next revolution?

23、Rivers are very important. Humans rely on them for food and water. But rivers can destroy things, too. They can flood, or rise over their banks, making the water run into the nearby land. Floods can also kill humans and wildlife. However, floods are not always bad. Some ecosystems need them every once in a while.
Flooding can not only drown animals but also destroy habitats. For example, a flood in India in 2012 killed many one-horned rhinos. Flood waters can pick up dirt from riverbanks, which makes the water dirty. Too much dirt will clog rivers and streams, preventing the river from flowing. Sometimes flood waters can carry pollution to the sea and harm marine life. In addition, flood waters can carry disease, including hepatitis A and cholera.
However, not everything about floods is bad. Sometimes they bring new life to ecosystems. Flood waters carry nutrients to the nearby land. Over time, the water dries up and leaves behind particles (微粒) of dirt and mud. The particles are called sediment(沉淀物) which can be good due to its ability to improve the dirt and helps plants grow. Floods are important to some animals as well. For instance, some animals see floods as a sign that it is time to mate or migrate. Floods leave sediment on river beds where baby fish can grow and carry nutrients for small animals in the water to eat. Moreover, in dry seasons, water might dry up, but floods help refill the wetlands, keeping the ecosystem going.
Floods are a part of nature. They can destroy living things and the environment. But some ecosystems need floods to survive.
【1】What’s the possible meaning of the underlined word “clog” in paragraph 2?

【3】What’s the main idea of paragraph 3?
A.The way in which floods feed animals.
B.The benefits of floods to ecosystems.
C.An effective means of improving soil.
D.The reason for people’s appreciating floods.
【4】What’s the best title of this article?
A.The Many Effects of Flooding.

24、 Now a company is launching a new robot on personal service machines.Rather than keeping you company at home,GITA (pronounced Jee-Tah) helps you go hands-free while you walk down the street, to the grocery store or to visit your neighbors.Like the name, which means“outing" in Italian, the robotic servant is for short trips out and about.
Designed by the Piaggio Group, the smart device uses five cameras to see you, follow you around and carry up to 40 pounds of your belongings for four hours. It's similar to those robotic suitcases that trail behind you at the airport, but with an entirely different outside.Picture a large container but on wheels. That's what GITA looks like in the flagship orange color.Imagine having a hi-tech that can follow you around with your shopping inside.Ir's round and strong yet relatively smart and convenient. The robotic helper is a joy to engage with, sort of like a dog.
Operating GITA is simple. You just press one button to turn it on,one button for the cameras to scan your legs, and you're off.It actually does a pretty good job of following you and recognizing when you change directions. Its movement is oddly natural. When you speed up it falls behind a bit before trying to catch up,and when you stop,it stops-usually.GITA operates best on hard surfaces. However,it can't go upstairs. It can roll on slight inclines(斜坡)and keep up with a walking person at speeds up to 6 miles per hour.
A system of sounds and lights will let you know whether it is unpaired or needs a charge. And an app lets you share your robot with your "crew", so it can follow them, too. With a speaker, your GITA can carry candy and play theme music as you take the kids trick-or-treating.
A USA TODAY tech reporter gave GITA a test run in 2019.He said,"GITA certainly made quite an impression on passers-by as it rolled down New York's busy Madison Avenue."Yet having tech trail behind you takes some getting used to.You can't help but look behind you to make sure it's keeping up, somewhat like monitoring a pet.
【1】The new robot is designed mainly to
A.instruct you where to go
B.serve you as you walk around

At first, Sam and Lightning were very cautious of each other and kept their distance. Slowly, however, Lightning started to _________ Sam up the stairs, down the stairs, into the kitchen to watch him eat, and into the living room to watch him sleep. As time passed, they were always together. When I played with one, the other _________. If Sam barked at something, Lightning ran to _________ what it was. When I took either one out of the _________, the other was always waiting by the door when we returned.
But one day, without any warning, Sam died of a heart attack at the vet's and I had to walk back to our house _________. There was no way for me to _________ why Lightning would never see her friend again. In the days that followed, Lightning seemed heartbroken.
