●Carry a reusable water bottle so you will not need bottled water.
【2】. Not only does it create trash, but it also uses more resources because it’s shipped to the store. To be more eco-friendly, make it a habit to carry a reusable water bottle with you everywhere so that you can drink water on the go. Plastic bottles are usually the lightest and most convenient.
●Use reusable bags while you’re shopping.
Shopping bags make it easy to carry your items home, but they also pollute the planet. Skip the store’s shopping bags and bring your own instead, Use a backpack that you already own, or purchase a couple of reusable bags from the checkout area at your local grocery store. 【3】.
●【4】.
Before you throw something away, look for ways you might reuse it. Try re-purposing items or making green crafts. This will help you keep trash out of the landfill. For example, instead of throwing away a jar, you might use it as a glass, vase or storage container.
●Reduce the amount of time you spend using electronics.
While electronics are really fun and help you feel connected to your friends, they also use up a lot of energy. Schedule breaks from your electronics so you can use them less. 22、About 12 years ago, I began making a series of dolls called “Wee Mountain Folk.” At first, I made them from cloth but then began using a kind of polymer clay(软陶)called cernit. The cloth dolls were beautiful, but it was impossible to get the level of detail(细节)I can get with clay.
First, I use wire(金属丝)to build the shape of the doll. Then I cover the head, hands, and feet around the wire using the cernit. Then I make the doll’s clothes myself, using lots of different materials. The completed dolls are fixed onto hardwood bases made by my father, Jim Logan.
Generally, the dolls I make show older people taking part in traditional activities. I’ve always had a great respect for the older generation.
Inspiration for the dolls often comes from people I know. Once I was caught looking too closely at the wrinkles(皱纹)on the face of one of my mom’s friends. But I explained that her laugh lines made her more attractive.
Now I work as a teacher’s assistant, and while I was raising my two daughters, Keri and Sheryl, I could work on the dolls only late in the day. The girls loved to come downstairs the next morning to see who’d arrived in the night.
It’s the detail that I enjoy working on the most. I once made a fisherman doll for a lady to give her father, including a tiny creel — a basket used by fishermen for carrying fish. When the man got the doll, he immediately opened the creel to see what was inside. Luckily, I’d made a small fish out of cernit and placed it in the basket.
Hopefully my story will inspire others to try their hand at doll making — I find it very relaxing and interesting.

23、Math class usually requires a pencil and a calculator. At Loveland High School, students also need a hammer and a hard hat. Every year, about 150 students sign up for “Geometry in Construction.” Students, usually seniors, learn math concepts in the classroom, and then use that knowledge to build a small home.
“We basically started this because we knew what was currently going on was not working for all kids," said teacher Scott Burke, one of the founders of the program. "We really felt like we needed to create a model that was a little bit different, something that not only helped kids in standardized testing, but also gave them employable skills as well."
It was a decade ago when Burke started teaching the program. The students’ first project was a small, one-bedroom cabin for a private buyer. Over time, Loveland High School started a partnership with Habitat for Humanity and built several homes for low-income families. For the first time this year, students built tiny homes that will help house locals who don't have a proper place to live in.
Loveland High School also offers courses to older students who have completed the geometry program. Senior Haley Hansen is now helping supervise (监管)the current construction site and learning management skills. Hansen, who said she first chose to study on the program to hopefully learn math in an easier way, grew to love it more than she imagined. "A big reason I stuck with this program is really because of the community aspect. I actually get to be a part of the community and feel like, as a high schooler, I am making an impact. Being able to help a family in need is something life-changing for me," said Hansen.
Now, Burke's teaching other schools how to build similar math classes. He said the Loveland Geometry in Construction team has trained about 425 schools around the country in how to copy the program. Some are building houses; others are building smaller projects like cabins.

26、阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
I shut my lunch bag quickly as I saw what was in it.
The strong familiar smell of garlic(大蒜)and onion brought back some memories of middle school lunch times. That day, when I opened my lunch bag with Chinese fried tofu in it, the boys and girls shouted, held their noses and ran away. I went red in the face. So for the rest of middle school, I insisted having “normal” food for lunch like ham and cheese sandwiches instead.
This morning, before Mom rushed out for work, she simply spared some of her lunch in my lunch bag. It was not Mom’s fault(过错). As a busy single mother, she always gives me her best .Every time I invite my friends home, the Chinese spring rolls and rice puddings Mom makes always amaze them and fill their stomachs.
What would happen today? I felt nervous and restless.
I was at a loss when Mary and Tommy, my best friends in high school, came over and shared the same lunch table. My friends happily pushed their lunch bags in front, inviting me to share mine. Hesitantly, I did.
注意:
1.所续写短文的词数应为80左右;
2.续写部分的开头已为你写好。
I had expected them to stand up and hold their noses, but it was not the truth.
