二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、Using only a computer and a webcam, interactive animations allow learners to animate their world using Scratch and their own movements. We use a tool called video sensing that uses motion picked up from the webcam to start and engage with digital animations on the screen. The result is something not quite real life but fully immersive and imaginative.

    Materials

For this activity, you will need a computer with a webcam and Scratch. That’s it! Consider how your environment or props could enhance your video sensing experience.

Tip: Consistent lighting is very helpful when making more complex video sensing projects.

    Set-up Your Scratch Environment

Click the Add an Extension button at the bottom left-hand corner.

Choose Video Sensing to add video blocks.

Go back to the Scratch editor. Now there are additional video sensing blocks and the webcam is turned on.

    Test Your Set-up

Make your first video sensing project with just two blocks. Start with the when video motion block to start your animation. The number inside this block can be between 1 and 100. A value of 1 is very sensitive to movement and a value of 100 is not very sensitive.

When movement is detected through the webcam, what happens next is up to you. Choose a sound, movement, or other reaction to create an interactive story.

    Video Transparency

You may notice that when the video camera in Scratch turns on, your video will look faded. To add more saturation to your video, change the   value from 50 to 100.

Once your environment is set-up, you’re ready to start interacting directly with your Scratch sprites (动画卡通人物)!Projects can be as varied as your learners' interests, support them in finding a project that’s meaningful to them. As one example, learners can use video sensing in Scratch to bring a book to life!

【1】If Tom wants to make a personalized and complex video sensing project, he should take into account the following factors EXCEPT ______.

    A.environment or props

    B.consistent lighting

    C.multiple sprites

    D.his own interest

【2】Which of the following statements about video sensing is true?

A.The When Video Motion block starts when it senses motion.

B.It is a tool to capture motion from the webcam.

C.Learners can use it to create animations based on their own movements.

D.With the When Video Motion block, users can adjust video transparency.

【3】Which title best describes the project mentioned in the passage?

    A.Digital Bling (闪亮的衣物)

    B.Two Frame Animation

    C.Scribbling (涂鸦)Machines

  • 23、Getting old might not be something that's yet to cross your mind. But aging is going to defeat us one day, so it's something we'd all like to control.

It would be great to have a long, healthy and happy life, and that's why scientists are constantly seeking out what we need to do to achieve it. We all know that regular exercise is good for us. But the latest piece of research might put a spring in your step if you're someone who walks at a fast pace. That's because the speed at which people walk in their 40s is a sign of how much their brains and their bodies are aging.

The BBC's Philippa Roxby writes that tests on 1,000 people found that slower walkers tended to show signs of "accelerated aging”. Their lungs, teeth and immune systems were in worse shape than those walking faster. The study also found not only did slower walkers bodies age more quickly, their faces looked older and they had smaller brains.

This might be seen as a wake-up call for people with a slower pace to work out and get fitter. But it might be too late; researchers say they were able to predict the walking speed of 45-year-olds using the results of intelligence, language and motor (运动)skills tests from when they were aged three. They also suggest that even in early life, there are signs showing which people will have a healthier life.

So, what's the point of knowing that a slower walking pace might mean a smaller brain? Researchers say measuring walking speed at a younger age and understanding what this might mean could be a way of testing treatments to slow human aging.

【1】Why do scientists keep on studying?

A.To help people live a better life.

    B.To achieve their goals.

C.To find ways to stop aging.

D.To find out who can live longer.

【2】How did the researchers get the result?

    A.By analyzing data.

B.By doing experiments int he lab.

    C.By doing surveys.

D.By carrying out tests on people.

【3】The findings can be used to .

    A.treat certain illnesses

    B.find ways to slow aging

    C.make people work harder

    D.urge people to walk slowly

【4】Where is the text most likely from?

  • 24、If you’re looking to spend an afternoon with coffee and cute dogs, there’s a new cafe in Silver Lake designed to help you do just that. It’s called the Dog Cafe, and its owner   is describing it as the first such cafe in the U.S.

The idea is to create a new way for people to adopt shelter dogs. Customers are able to buy a coffee or tea drink, then sit in an adjacent(相邻的) dog area, where they can play with dogs from a nearby shelter. All of the dogs in the area are up for adoption.

Sarah Wolfgang, the cafe’s founder and owner, said she was inspired by the animal cafes found in South Korea, but notes that the dogs in those cafes came from puppy mills(幼犬繁殖厂).

Her Dog Cafe focuses on “saving dogs who have been at the shelter the longest because of health or behavioral problems and are at the highest risk of being euthanized( 使安乐死),” according to the cafe’s website.

The coffee shop of the cafe has drinks made with products from Grounds & Hounds Coffee Co. and Dogs Drink Coffee (both give some of the money they make to animals in need): pour-over coffee, teas, lattes and flavored lemonades. Because of the nearness to dogs, there isn’t any food served at the cafe. There is an area selling dog goods.

Admission to the dog area is $10 per person for a 55-minute block of time. You can make a booking and find a full list of dogs for adoption on the cafe’s website. The Dog Cafe area and coffee shop is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm.

【1】What’s Sarah Wolfgang’s purpose of opening the Dog Cafe?

    A.To encourage adoption of dogs.
