  • 21、A simple mosquito(蚊子)bite can mean serious illness or death. So we use some chemicals to kill mosquitoes. But this has a bad influence on the whole ecosystem and your health. Now there’s a new device(装置), which can keep you and your family mosquito-free:

    What are we talking about?

Mosquitron, a brand-new type of bug(虫子)catcher, designed by two German engineers, is perfect for clearing your home of all annoying and dangerous flying pests!

    How does it work?

It is easy to set up; plug it in —and away you go!

It lures(引诱)the mosquitoes near by using a safe UV light.

    A fan sucks(吸入)the insects through a one-way trapdoor.

Once got in the drying basket, mosquitoes are killed by the fan within 2 minutes.

You can simply empty the dead bugs into the trash, without even touching them.

No need for batteries or any chemicals.

    How much does it cost?

It’s now $ 179.99. It may seem expensive at first, but when you consider most devices don’t work for more than 10 minutes, this is a pretty good deal. In fact, other products using the same UV technology are priced at over $ 250! Now you can buy it from our website with 50% off and with free delivery for a limited time by clicking here.

Note: The device can only be returned or exchanged if it arrives damaged, and you must pay in advance.

【1】What is the advantage of a Mosquitron?

A.It is cheaper than other devices.

    B.It doesn’t need battery.

    C.It is silent when working.

D.It kills mosquitoes with UV light.

【2】What can you enjoy if buying a Mosquitron online now?

    A.A high discount.

    B.A cheap delivery.

    C.Return without reasons.

    D.A great gift.

【3】What type of writing is this text?

    A.An analysis.

    B.An advertisement.

    C.A story.

    D.A report.

  • 23、Life can bring us down from time to time. At some point, you may find yourself in what you will consider as your darkest hour. As you try to find your way out of that bad situation, you should try to remind yourself that there will always be a reason to be grateful.

If you look at your situation now and compare it with someone else who is in much deeper trouble than you, I am sure that you'll find something to be thankful for. We all have our share of problems, but complaining about them so much only makes us blind to the fact that there are the miracles (奇迹) which happen around us each day.

When all your needs are provided, then you should be content and happy. If you have a roof over your head, some proper clothes to wear, enough food on the table, a comfortable place to sleep, clean water to drink and you are free to make your own choices, then you should be happy and grateful. Many people all around the world, especially those who are at war or those in very poor countries, would give anything to be in your shoes.

Even if you lose all your money or possessions and your heart is broken for some reason, as long as you are still alive, then everything you have lost can be regained. If you have a few good friends who will be there to support or help you, then be glad because true friends are hard to find. As long as you have someone to love and someone to love you back, then you are a very fortunate person. Remember to be patient and trust that things will get better.

【1】That we complain about the bad situation only results in ________.

    A.losing others' support

    B.ignoring something good

    C.having a far worse situation

    D.taking everything for granted

【2】By “would give anything to be in your shoes”, the author means many people ________.

    A.really admire your shoes

B.are in a better situation than you

C.would like to be in your situation

D.never know the value of your shoes

【3】According to the author, as long as you are still alive, ________.

A.you should be content and happy

B.what you've lost will be back soon

C.you will certainly lead a life you like

D.you will have a chance to get what you've lost back

  • 24、   At times my mom has been uncomfortable seeing these qualities in me. For example, when I was 12, I went to Puerto Rico all by myself to stay with my grandmother for the summer. My mom was extremely nervous about it. She kept telling me how things were different in Puerto Rico, to always put on sunscreen, not to wander away from my grandmother, and other warnings. She helped me pack and did not leave the airport until she saw my plane take off.

But despite her worries, she let me go on my own. As I moved into my teens, she continued to give me space to grow and learn, even when it might have been difficult for her. When I reached my senior year, I decided to move away for college. Once again I found that I differed from my peers. While many of them wanted to stay close to home, I couldn’t wait to be out in the world on my own. I had been looking forward to this chance for longer than I could remember. And once again, while my mom may not have been happy at the thought of me going away, she was supportive and excited for me. Sure, there were times when she’d nag(不断地唠叨) me about certain choices I made, but for the most part she did not stand in my way.

One big thing I realized during my senior year was that she actually believes in me and trusts me. That means a lot. Most of my life, and especially when I was little, the main person I tried to impress was my mother, I knew she expected nothing but the best from me. Sometimes it was hard to live up to her standards; getting a single B on my report card would make me feel bad because I knew she wanted me to have all A’s.

I know that her high standards have helped me stay focused on what’s important, like education, and made me who I am. I am thankful for her support and involvement in my life. Most of all I respect her; she is the strongest woman I know and that’s why I have turned out so strong and independent.

【1】When the author decided to go to Puerto Rico, his mother_______.

    A.wanted to go with him.

    B.worried about his safety.

    C.didn’t allow him to go.

    D.asked his grandmother for advice.

【2】The author decided to move away for college to_______.

    A.be different from his peers.

    B.keep away from his mother.

    C.be independent in outside world.

    D.make his mother unhappy.

【3】We can learn from the third paragraph that the author’s mother______.

A.had a high expectation from him.

    B.was too strict with him.

C.used to expect nothing from him.

    D.cared little about his learning.

【4】We can learn from the last paragraph that the author_________.

A.is quite grateful for his mother’s trust.

    B.still doesn’t quite understand his mother’s attitude.

C.doesn’t like his mother’s involvement in his life.

D.wishes to have more freedom from his mother.

三、完形填空 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 25、Directions: For each blank in the following passage there are four words or phrases marked A, B, C and D. Fill in each blank with the word or phrase that best fits the context.

The sights, sounds, and smells of the modern marketplace are rarely accidental. More likely, they are tools of an evolving strategy of psychological marketing called “sensory marketing” to create an emotional association to a(n) ______ product or brand.

By relating to people in a far more ______way through everyone’s own senses,  sensory marketing is able to affect people in a way that traditional mass marketing cannot.

Traditional marketing believes that consumers will systematically consider______ product factors like price, features, and utility. Sensory marketing, by contrast, seeks to resort to the consumer's life experiences and feelings. Sensory marketing believes that people, as consumers, will act according to their emotional urge more than to their ______ reasoning. In this way, an effective sensory marketing effort can result in consumers choosing to buy a lovely but expensive product, rather than a plain but cheap ______.

In the past, communications with customers were mainly monologues — companies just ‘talked at’ consumers. Then they evolved into dialogues, with customers providing ______. Now they’re becoming multidimensional conversations, with products finding their own voices and consumers responding ______ to them.

Based on the implied messages received through five senses, consumers, without noticing it, tend to apply human-like personalities to brands, leading to intimate relationship and, hopefully for the brands, persistent ______. And that’s the very thing brands are dying to foster in customers rather than instant trend or profits.  Most brands are considered to have either "sincere" or "exciting" personalities.

"Sincere" brands like IBM and Boeing tend to be regarded as conservative and reliable while "exciting" brands like Apple, and Ferrari are as imaginative and ______. In general, consumers tend to form ______ relationships with sincere brands than with exciting ones. This explains the relatively enduring history of the “Sincere Brands”

Certainly, with the eyes containing two-thirds of all the ______cells in a person's body, sight is considered the most important of all human senses. Sensory marketing uses sight to create a memorable "sight experience" of the product for consumers which extends to packaging, store interiors, and printed advertising to form a(n) ___ image for the brand.

In other words, no aspect of a product design is left to ______ anymore, especially color. Brand acceptance is linked closely with the appropriateness of the colors on the brand—does the color ______ the product at all?  If not, customers, though not realizing it themselves, will _____ the brands in all possible ways sales, reputation, etc.  Therefore, brands, isn’t it time now to study the new field of marketing?
