21、The number of adults worldwide with dementia(痴呆) could rise from about 57.4 million in 2019 to 152.8 million by 2050, driven by factors like midlife obesity. smoking and social isolation, according to a study published Thursday by the Lancet.
While improvements in education are forecast to reduce dementia cases by 6.2 million in2050, researchers said this would be canceled out by trends in obesity. high blood sugar and smoking, which are estimated to cause an additional 6.8 million cases, the Guardian reported.
Risk factors for dementia also include stress, depression, physical inactivity, diabetes, heavy alcohol consumption, head injury, exposure to air pollution and low education, researchers said.
The rate of dementia is estimated to rise in every country, ranging from a 1,926% increase in Qatar to a 27% increase in Japan, while dementia cases in the U.S. are expected to increase by about 99.67%.
Researchers estimated that dementia cases would increase by roughly 117% by 2050 due to growth of the elderly population alone, a factor forecast to have the severest impact in East Asia. To reduce the risk of dementia, policymakers must support low-cost programs promoting exercise, a healthy diet and quitting smoking, lead author Emma Nichols,a researcher at the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, told the Guardian.
Dementia is a syndrome(综合症),usually progressive, which harms memory and other functions of thought beyond what would usually be expected from aging. Though dementia can result from Alzheimer's disease or a stroke, it is not an unavoidable consequence of aging, the World Health Organization said. A 2020 study published by the Lancet suggested that low education might be a risk factor for dementia, because improved health education helps decrease the risk of head injury or of too much alcohol drinking. $818 billion is the annual global cost of treating dementia, the WHO estimated in 2017.Famous figures who were diagnosed with dementia include actress Rita Hayworth, actor James Stewart, former President Ronald Reagan and former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

22、Nowadays more and more people like to travel, especially when vacations come. A great number of people rush out of their homes or companies to travelling spots. They either drive ortake a bus, a train, a ship and so on. Some even ride bikes.
However, there is another way of travelling—poorism. People have a tour in the poorest areas of the world. Some people may take one-day poorest tour, and some even pay to stay in very poor neighborhoods to experience the lowest living standards in the world. Poorism tours take place around the world, and not just in the third world countries. You can, for instance, tour New York neighborhoods in the Bronx, in the Bund of Shanghai. Such tours can take people into the heart of poor areas within large and in some rich cities. These tours may awaken people to pay more attention to long-standing poverty, or the effects of war.
Some suggest that tours in the poor areas can raise social care. And the money from the tour
can be donated to help the people there.

23、 In a small tent in the middle of Panama's rainforest, Aaron Pomerantz, a biologist at the University of California, set up a field lab filled with microscopes and other lab equipment. He was looking for something nearly invisible — transparent butterflies known as glasswings.
The glasswing butterfly, a baseball-size flier that lives throughout Central and South America, is one of hundreds of butterfly species with transparent wings. This rare adaptation helps it escape potential dangers. Compared with other see-through species, such as dragonflies, glasswings are even more skilled at flying through the rainforest unnoticed because their wings don't shine in sunlight.
Patel, Pomerantz's Ph. D adviser, has a lifelong interest in glasswings. To understand what makes the glasswings so mysterious, he asked a group of graduate students to take microscopic images of the wings of a dozen or so species of transparent butterflies.
A butterfly's wings are made up of a thin layer of a natural polymer, which is typically covered with tiny scales. Species with transparent wings have found ways to move light around these scales by producing fewer of them, turning them straight up, or simply getting rid of them. The group found that glasswings not only produce fewer scales, but they also change many of those scales into hair, allowing light to pass through the wings more easily. In addition, the waxy coating slows down light that passes through the wings. That reduction in speed softens the impact of light hitting the scales, further reducing reflection.
Understanding these properties could one day help researchers efficiently focus light onto solar panels and create cheaper antireflective lenses for cameras or glasses. It's just fascinating to know how nature solves really interesting problems like this. You can pay extra for glasses that have an antireflective coating on them.
【1】Why does the author mention “dragonflies” in Paragraph 2?
A.To make a comparison.
B.To explain a rule.

24、 China was a latecomer to space exploration, and in the movies, it has been a latecomer to science fiction, too. That is about to change. The country’s first blockbuster (大片) set in space, The Wandering Earth, opens Tuesday with great expectations that it will represent the dawning of a new age in Chinese filmmaking. The film also opens with the Lunar New Year, the beginning of an official, weeklong holiday that is traditionally a peak box-office period in China. It has a limited show in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
The Wandering Earth, shown in 3-D, takes place in a distant future in which the sun is about to expand into a red giant and destroy the Earth. The approaching danger forces the world’s engineers to make a plan to move the planet to a new solar system using giant thrusters (推进器). Things go very badly when the Earth has to pass the Jupiter, setting off desperate disturbance to save humanity from ruin.
The film comes as China reached a milestone in space : the landing of a probe (探测器) on the far side of the moon in January. Although decades behind Russia and the United States, China has now put astronauts in orbit and has ambitious plans to join—or even lead—a new age of space exploration.
“I think there is a very close connection between Chinese cinema and the nation’s fortunes,” said Sha Dan, a leader at the China Film Archive, “When we have the ability to rescue our people abroad, we can make movies like Operation Red Sea. Only when China can enter the space age can we make works like The Wandering Earth.”
The Wandering Earth takes for granted China’s central role in future space exploration, but it also has a vision of the international teamwork necessary to deal with the threats facing the planet, a theme that runs deeply through the film.
【1】What does the author think of The Wandering Earth?
A.It is a hit in the oversea film markets.
B.It is a success in science-fiction films.

A.A new solar system.
B.A new planet like the Earth.
C.The expanding sun in a distant future.
D.A deadly disease for people on the Earth.
【3】What mainly promotes Chinese filmmaking according to the text?
A.China’s increasing overall national strength.
B.Chinese filmmakers’ growing budgets.
C.The growing confidence of Chinese directors.
D.The increasingly experienced film technology.
【4】What is reflected throughout The Wandering Earth?
A.The importance of heroes.

C.The nation’s power of China.
