21、An event celebrating the 80th anniversary of Yueju Opera’s reform and the 100th birthday of Yueju master Yuan Xuefen (1922 — 2011) was held in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, on Monday.
Yueju Opera, a national intangible cultural heritage, originated in Shaoxing before it became popular in Shanghai. It is a respected and widely praised art form that combines Chinese folk stories, music and drama.
Yuan is credited with leading the reform of Yueju, including the extensive use of lighting and scenery. She is best known for playing the title role in Sister Xianglin by Lu Xun, one of the major Chinese writers of the 20th century.
The event was part of the Fifth Chinese Yueju Opera Festival, which opened in Shaoxing on Sunday. At the festival’s opening ceremony, many Yueju masters signed an agreement to inherit and further develop the art. Sheng Yuechun, Party secretary of Shaoxing, said the city will help build county- and city-level Yueju Opera groups by supplying 10 million yuan ($1.48 million) every year to the creation of new Yueju plays.
This year, during the Fifth Yueju Opera Festival, 45 plays, including 20 traditional ones and 15 new ones, were performed to show the achievements and developments of Yueju Opera since 2018. The Chinese Yueju Opera Festival is a national art festival held in Zhejiang every four years, started in 2006. It aims to preserve the culture of Yueju Opera and promote the development and prosperity of Yueju Opera.

22、 There are those who save every takeaway container. There are others who throw away every takeaway container and later wish they hadn't clone so. Wouldn't it be great if these two people could do each other a favor and just swap (交换)?
Across the world, those with too much "junk”, and those who can't get enough of it, are exchanging and sharing their stuff online on a network called Freecycle. On Freecycle, people can swap with others who live within a few miles of them. All you have to do is list whatever you have to give away or whatever you're looking for. Take a quick visit to the website, and you can get your hands on a baby stroller, a dictionary, or a pair of shoes. Just sign up and make sure you turn up to collect your new-- or , rather , old—item.
“Freecycling" isn't just a trend, though. It's becoming the accepted way of doing things. If your child has grown up, what better way to deal with his or her stroller than to give it to another kid? And if you're moving house, your expensive necessities, even beds and cupboards, can just be freecycled.
Admittedly? a lot of the items carry warnings, such as “TV with remote control missing” or ^saucepan (no lid)”. And some listings are a bit bossy, too, as in “ladies' shoes — must be collected TONIGHT! !
It's also possible to get a bit addicted to Freecycle. A "bamboo cocktail bar", a “cupboard with 20 very small drawers”, a huge pile of ^squares of cloth, great for craft projects! It all sounded so good to one of my flatmates that she became an example of a ^Freecycle addict”. But that didn't matter, of course. Everything she got could later be freecycled off again.
【1】Why does the author mention two kinds of people in paragraph 1?
A.To lead to the topic of Freecycle.
B.To compare their different habits.
C.To call on people to help each other.
D.To help them exchange takeaway containers.
【2】What can people do on Freecycle?
A.Buy cheap things.
B.Make friends online.
C.Store their own things.
D.Offer unwanted items for free.
【3】What is the last paragraph mainly about?
A.Everything on Freecycle is expensive.
B.My flatmate has nothing to do with Freecycle.
C.It is possible to get useless things from Freecycle.
D.It is easy for some people to get crazy about Freecycle.
【4】What can we say about freecycling?
A.It is not a possible trend. B.It is win-win for some people.
C.It can cause some problems. D.It is likely to produce waste.
23、Many of China’s ancient architectural treasures crumbled to dust before Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng began documenting them in the 1930s. The husband and wife team were among the first preservationists to operate in China, and by far the best known. Their efforts have since inspired generations of people to speak out for architecture threatened by the rush toward development.
Becoming China’s best architectural historians was no easy accomplishment. The buildings they wanted to save were centuries old, often located in distant parts of the country. In many cases, they had to journey through dangerous conditions in the Chinese countryside to reach them. Exploring China’s remote areas during the 1930s meant traveling muddy, poorly maintained roads by mule (骡子), or on foot. Inns were often dirty, food could be polluted, and there was always risk of violence from rebels, soldiers and robbers.
Their greatest discovery was the Temple of Buddha’s Light, in Wutai County, Shanxi Province. The breathtaking wooden temple was built in 857 A.D., making it the oldest building known in China at the time.
Liang and Lin crawled into the temple’s most forbidding, forgotten areas to determine its age, including one hideaway inhabited by thousands of bats and millions of bedbugs, covered in dust and littered with dead bats. “In complete darkness and among awful smell, hardly breathing, with thick masks covering our noses and mouths, we measured, drew, and photographed with flashlights for several hours. When at last we came out to take a breath of fresh air, we found hundreds of bedbugs in our bag. We ourselves had been badly bitten. Yet the importance and unexpectedness of our find made those the happiest hours of my years hunting for ancient architecture.” Liang wrote of the experience in an account included in the book “Liang and Lin: Partners in Exploring China’s Architectural Past.”
【1】What does the underlined word “crumble” mean in paragraph 1?
A.be stolen
B.fall down
C.look old
D.close up
【2】On their way to the ancient buildings in the 1930s, Liang and Lin mainly faced risks in ________.
A.transport and accommodations
B.personal safety and weather
C.communication with locals and food
D.road conditions and fund
【3】What can we infer from Liang’s words in the text?
A.They considered their work was the most important.
B.They were well-equipped before entering the temple.
C.They found some surprising things in the temple.
D.The condition inside the temple was common to them.
【4】Which of the following is the best title for the passage?

Warm Waters Caused Many Sea Creatures to Move Far North
A study has found that warmer waters off North America’s West Coast caused many kinds of sea life to move farther north than ever before. The study was a project of scientists from the University of California, Davis.
【1】 They identified a total of 67 species between 2014 and 2016, during what was described as a “marine heatwave”. The researchers reported that 37 of the 67 species they studied had never before been observed so far north as California. These creatures are native to an area hundreds of kilometers to the south.
Some species were discovered outside a marine laboratory belonging to the University of California, Davis. A few were even found north of California.【2】 The scientists involved in the study believe the findings can provide valuable information for predicting future sea life reactions to warming oceans.
There is also evidence suggesting that warming waters in the Atlantic Ocean have caused some sea creatures to move northward. A 2017 report in Yale University’s online magazine Environment 360 explores this subject. The report notes that for many years, the ocean has served as our best defense against climate change.【3】 This has led to warmer oceans, with experts predicting continuing rising temperatures.
Warmer waters along the U.S. East Coast have affected a black sea fish. Researchers from Rutgers University reported the fish once was mainly found off the coast of North Carolina. But they discovered the species had traveled more than 700 kilometers northward, to waters off the coast of New Jersey.
【4】 Using climate models, researchers predicted that some species along the U.S. and Canadian Pacific coasts will move as far as 1,400 kilometers north from their current habitats. Such movement is expected to cause major difficulties for fisheries both in the U.S. and Canada, the study found.
A.This is because ocean waters have taken in nearly all of the atmosphere’s extra heat.
B.This causes winds off the coast to weaken and enables warm water to move eastward.
C.The scientists examined waters off the coast of Northern California in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
D.The northward travel of so many different sea creatures was considered to have never happened before.
E.The researchers discovered that some of the sea creatures were hundreds of kilometres south of their known range.
F.A study estimated climate change will force hundreds of fish species and other creatures to seek out cooler waters in coming years.
