21、 As a teenager in the 1990s, Melissa Blake was interested in fashion. Unfortunately, fashion wasn't much interested in her. Blake, who has a genetic bone and muscle disorder and stands a little under 4 feet tall, couldn't find jeans or dresses in her size. Paging through magazines, she didn't see a single person like her. “That would have been a game changer for me,” says Blake, who had 26 surgeries before age 17 to treat her Freeman-Sheldon syndrome.

I feel like every time I post a selfie or share something about my life as a disabled woman, it is representation to fight that,”Blake told WBUR.
Her fans went wild, calling Blake a goddess and a powerful: woman. Among her fans is Mindy Scheier, the founder and CEO of Runway of Dreams, which displays fashion for people with disabilities. Last fall, Scheier asked Blake to be one of the event's 24 models.

22、 Theresa May is the second female prime minister(首相), taking charge of the UK at one of the most hard times in recent political history.
Born in Sussex but raised largely in Oxfordshire, Mrs. May was educated in a grammar school in the village of Wheatley. The young Theresa Brasier threw herself into village life.
Like Margaret Thatcher, she went to the University of Oxford to study. In 1976, in her third year, she met her husband Philip May. They were introduced at a Conservative Association disco and got married four years later.
Her university friend Pat Frankland, speaking in 2011 on a BBC Radio 4, said, “I cannot remember a time when she did not have political ambitions(政治抱负).”
There are no tales of drunken student celebration, but Pat Frankland and other friends said May was not the serious figure she would later come to be seen as, and that she had a sense of fun and a full social life.
After graduating with a degree in geography, May went to work in the Bank of England. But it was already clear that she saw her future in politics. Like Margaret Thatcher, it took a bit of time for her to find hers. She first dipped her toe in the water in 1992, when she gained a Labour seat in North West Durham. She entered Parliament in 1997 and Theresa was chosen as Home Secretary(内政大臣) in May 2010 and became the longest-serving Conservative Home Secretary for over 60 years. During this time she was in charge of reductions in crime, reform of the police, and the introduction of the landmark Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Following her election as Leader of the Conservative Party, Theresa was chosen as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on 13th July 2016.

23、Known for its skyscrapers and megamalls, Singapore is perhaps not so well-known for its abundance of trees. But according to a new study, it ranks top in the world for urban tree density (密度).
According to the study, almost 30% of the city-state is covered by trees, which is nearly 4% more than joint second-place cities Sydney, Australia and Vancouver, Canada. The study was completed by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) and has measured the urban green canopy (天蓬似的树荫)of 17 key cities around the world using Google Street View data. Of the 17 cities, Paris has the fewest trees with only 8.8% of its urban area covered by greenery. “The green canopy is an important and integral part of urban life. Trees help mitigate extreme temperatures, provide a natural relief from traffic jam and noise, and improve the quality of life for those living in urban environments,”says Treepedia, the website which hosts the findings of the study. The project has the aim of encouraging city planners and residents to do more to promote greenery in their cities.
Nicknamed the City in a Garden, Singapore’s top place spot is no surprise. Parks such as the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, the Botanic Gardens and the newer Gardens by the Bay super park — home to around 400,000 plants—have no doubt contributed to its winning place. The city also has a considerable number of roof gardens and “skyrise” greenery on the front wall of buildings—in fact this type of greenery alone has increased from 61 hectares in 2013 to 72 hectares in 2015. Singapore’s National Parks Board also manages around two million individual trees along streets, and in parks.
