六、阅读理解 (共3题,共 15分)
  • 21、Choose the best answer.

    Shanghai heat

You can’t find a “hotter” city than Shanghai this summer, and it’s not just because of the weather. By August 14, over 40 million people had visited the Shanghai World Expo. Among the visitors were many students from all over the country. The Expo was their top choice for a summer holiday. What impressed (使……印象深刻) them at the Expo? Which pavilion (场馆) was their favorite? Four students share their stories.

    Wang Feibai, 14, Beijing:

My favorite pavilion was the SAIC-GM Pavilion(汽车馆). With a 3D movie, it showed us what cars will be like in 20 years: they will not use oil, they will avoid (避免) accidents, and we will be able to park our future cars on balconies (阳台)!

I was a keen collector of Expo passport (护照) stamps. My four passports have now become a reminder (提示) of my unforgettable Expo tour.

    Wang Yuze, 12, Beijing:

I loved China’s Joint Provincial Pavilions (各省联合馆). Each of the small pavilions is a different style. They clearly show the characteristics (特点) of provinces in China. For example, the Jiangxi Pavilion looks just like a big porcelain bowl (瓷碗).

    Ni Yunwen, 13, Shanghai:

My favorite is the US Pavilion. I love the 4D movie, The Garden. It tells a touching (感人的) story about people in the city. Besides, I felt glad to be an Expo volunteer (志愿者). Though I was tired, I enjoyed the work.

    Chen Luyun, 14, Tiantai, Zhejiang:

The Saudi Arabia (沙特阿拉伯) Pavilion is my favorite. To enter the “Moon Boat”, I waited for more than five hours. There were just so many people! But when I got into the pavilion, I found that the wait was worthwhile (值得的). It was amazing to watch 3D movies in the IMAX theater.

1The passage tells us that Shanghai is especially hot because _______.

    A. it is popular B. there are too many people

    C. it is summer D. the Shanghai World Expo has attracted millions of people

2Who was keen on Expo passport stamps?

    A. Wang Feibai B. Ni Yunwen

    C. Wang Yuze D. Chen Luyun

3Which of the following is RIGHT?

    A. All of the four students come from Beijing.

    B. Chen Luyun waited for more than five hours to enter the “Moon Boat” .

    C. Expo passport can let you visit the pavilions again .

    D. Wang Yuze is the oldest of the four..

4Which pavilion is NOT mentioned in the passage?

    A. The SAIC-GM Pavilion B. The Saudi Arabia (沙特阿拉伯) Pavilion

    C. France Pavilion D. The US Pavilion.

5Which of the following is WRONG?

    A. Wang Feibai is from Beijing.

    B. Ni Yunwen would like to be an Expo volunteer .

    C. The 4D movie, The Garden, tells a touching (感人的) story about people in the city.

    D. China’s Joint Provincial Pavilions looks like a big porcelain bowl.

6How did Chen Luyun feel after a very long wait?

    A. It is amazing. B. It is strange.

    C. It is worthwhile. D. It is tiring.

  • 22、How can you change negative thoughts? Many people suggest thinking of something bright and happy. However, Canadian scientists from Queen’s University said that there might be another way: by walking like a happy person.

“It is not surprising that our mood and the way we feel affects how we walk, but we want to see whether the way we move also affects how we feel.” explained Nikolaus Troje, the lead scientist.

Scientists believe that the way we remember emotional messages is influenced by our mood. When we’re sad, we’ll remember negative information far more easily than positive messages, especially when the information is about ourselves.

In order to prove this, Troje and his team watched 47 people walking on the treadmill (跑步机) by cameras. Half of the people were encouraged to follow a depressive (压抑) walking style, while the other half moved like a happy person. Walking speed was kept equal for both groups. Meanwhile, the scientists read out a list of positive and negative words. Then, people were asked to recite (背出) as many words as they could remember.

As expected, those who had been following the depressive style remembered more negative words than those walking in a happy manner. This shows that our walk influences the way we process (处理) information. Scientists also believe that using a happy walking style could help with treatment for depression.

【1】According to scientists from Queen’s University, how can we change negative thoughts?

    A.To hang out with friends.

B.To think about a happy person.

C.To walk like a happy person.

B.47 people were required to walk at two different speeds.

C.47 people recited the words they could remember after walking.

D.Scientists asked 47 people to tell their feelings about depression.

【3】According to this passage, who can be helped by the scientists’ discovery?

A.People who want to walk faster.

    B.Patients suffering from memory loss.

C.People who want to lose weight.

    D.Patients suffering from depression.

【4】Where can you probably find this article?

    A.Ina travel guide.

    B.In a fashion journal.

    C.In a patient’s diary.

    D.In a science magazine.

  • 23、   In 1987, a small company named Huawei was started in Shenzhen. After more than 30 years of development, the company has now beaten Apple and become the world’s second-largest maker of smart phones behind Korea’s Samsung. It has also become the world’s largest supplier (供应商) of 5G.

But recently, Huawei faced some difficulties. The U.S. government ordered a ban (禁令) on its sales in America. American officials said Huawei gave information that it collected to the Chinese government.
