21、 Recently I got goose bumps (鸡皮疙瘩).It was Friday. I went to school like it was a normal day, but little did I know there was a shock waiting for me at school
There was a boy in my band, Spanish and math class. His name was Nathan. I never really liked him since he was a slowpoke (动作迟缓的人). In class whenever he was asked a question, he would take a long time to answer it. The whole class would get annoyed. He didn't have any friends at all. He always sat alone at the lunch table listening to music.
That day, I walked into the band class and Mr. Kohler began the class. We played music for a little while and then Mr. Kohler asked us: “Who in here can tell what note it is just by hearing the pitch (音高)?" Nobody raised their hand except Nathan. The moment I saw him, I laughed but not out loud. I thought he couldn't do anything properly. How could he possibly guess the note when the pitch was played?
Mr. Kohler asked Nathan to stand in front of the class. Then he has a tuner, played a pitch and asked Nathan to guess the note.
Nathan said, “E flat."
Me Kohler said, “OK, good.” And he played another pitch. "F sharp," Nathan said. The whole class went silent.
Mr. Kohler challenged Nathan by playing 2 pitches and even 3 pitches at the same time. Nathan guessed all the pitches correctly.
'Good job. Go back to your seat," Me Kohler said.
At that moment I got goose bumps. That day I realized that I shouldn't judge people based on little things I see. I need to see the great things people can do. From that day on I had a different opinion on Nathan. I forgot all the things he was bad at and focused on the things he was good at.

22、The 23rd April is World Book Day, but do you know that it is also Shakespeare Day? Everybody has heard of Shakespeare, but do you know how many plays he wrote?
Shakespeare's plays have three kinds: tragedies , comedies and histories, His most famous play is the tragic story of Romeo and Juliet, which deals with two young lovers who are not allowed to marry by their parents. Other tragedies include Hamlet, Othello, and Macbeth.
Shakespeare's comedies include Much Ado About Nothing, A Midsummer Nights Dream and Twelfth Night. Twelfth Night is a play about unclear identities. Two twins are shipwrecked(遭海难)and the sister, Viola, dresses up as her brother, Sebastian, who she thinks is dead. It's funny, because the brother reappears and there's a big love problem going on: Viola is in love with the Duke, who is in love with Olivia, who falls in love with Sebastian except that she doesn't realize that Sebastian is actually Viola dressed up! Everybody falls in love with the wrong person, but it is all made right in the end.
The history plays, such as Antony and Cleopatra, Richard Ⅲ and Henry V are based on the lives of real historical people. In Antony and Cleopatra, Cleopatra becomes Antony's girlfriend and Antony becomes so crazy about her that he loses controlof the army. Cleopatra kills herself in the end and Antony kills himself too.
Shakespeare's plays can be very difficult sometimes. Some of the themes they deal with are heavy, so they almost always include a lighter subplot with characters who are not so important. They are often used in tragedies to lighten the mood of the play and to keep the audience interested in the main plot.

23、The creativity TikTok stimulates allows for a broad range of content that encourages users to participate in trends that integrate their passions and hobbies. Specifically, content related to literature on TikTok has generated its own domain. Commonly referred to as “BookTok,” this side of the platform focuses on all things about books: book recommendations, tips for pleasing bookshelves and edits related to literature-based fandoms (粉丝圈).
With heightened demand for new media to comfort themselves during the pandemic period of severe challenges, many young adults have regarded literature as a form of escape. Restarting former literary passions, BookTok users have turned their attention to the app to praise the novels that have helped serve as a brief getaway to worlds within bound pages.

The popularity of BookTok and the novels that are recommended to young adults on the app have had a direct effect on bookstores and book sales, with both independent bookstores and chains such as Barnes & Noble taking notice of the broader range of readers that are influenced by TikTok and updating their stock to appeal to users.
As of March 2021, BookTok has over 6 billion views and will only continue to grow larger. Though the popularity of BookTok brought many significant questions regarding the future of the book industry and the books that receive mass attention on social media, the importance of the BookTok phenomenon perhaps lies mainly with the readers who claim their love for books and the creative channels through which they express this admiration. 24、 Natural selection is the process by which one type of animal within a species thrives because of certain characteristics that make it more likely to live than others in its group. The history of the peppered moth(灰蛾)is an example of the natural selection process.
In 19th century England, certain types of peppered moths were able to better blend(融合)into their surroundings. During that time period, great changes were happening in Great Britain. The Industrial Revolution was part of this change, and with it came air pollution. Natural selection often takes hundred or even thousands of years to occur. For the peppered moth, this process occurred comparatively quickly.
At the beginning of the Industrial Age, most peppered moths in England were light-colored and covered with black markings, although a few moths had dark-colored wings. Because the light-colored moths blended into the light-colored bark on the trees, they could not be easily seen by birds that would eat them. As the air grew more polluted, however, tree trunks became covered with soot(烟煤)and became darker. The light-colored moths became easy for birds to see against the dark tree trunks. Since the dark-colored moths now had the advantage, their numbers grew. Within 50 years, the peppered moth went from being mostly light-colored to being mostly dark-colored.
In the 20th century, the air cleared up, and the peppered moth population changed again. As tree trunks lighted due to less soot in the air, light-colored moths once again had an advantage. Their numbers increased as soot levels declined. Depending on their environment, the coloration of the moths helped them to be “naturally selected” to survive.
【1】In 19th century, what was one of the causes of great changes in Great Britain?
A.The surroundings. B.The Industrial Revolution.

C.The color of peppered moths changed at random.
D.It was a good example of environmental protection.
【3】What’s the difference between light-colored and dark-colored moths?
A.Dark-colored moths were originally easy to see on trees.
B.Both kinds of moths preferred the dark-colored trees.
C.Birds failed to see light-colored moths.
D.The color of moths was unimportant.
【4】Which would most likely happen if soot darkened England’s trees again?
A.Birds would eat fewer moths.
B.Moths would not be able to stay alive.
C.Light-colored moths would disturb people’s life.
D.The population of dark-colored moths would increase.
