24、The word “shanzhai” originally means “mountain village”,but it means “copy” in Chinese now.
I started to research this topic and found a whole new shanzhai world. There are shanzhai products and online games, even shanzhai culture. It is so popular that some people say to each other “have you shanzhaied today”? Like it or not, shanzhai has become part of our life in China.
I even met an American IT professional recently who has just had his shanzhai mobile phone. He was so proud of it and would not stop talking about all the functions while showing off the look of his phone. I could hardly see the back cover as he had stuck fake logos(假冒标记)“IPhone”, “Nokia” & “LG” on it.
But why has shanzhai become so popular in China? Why do over 50 percent of the people surveyed by CCTV support it? Firstly, many may not realize it but for Chinese people, the word “shanzhai’’ also reminds us of ‘‘the heroes of Liang shan”. Secondly, there would be no shanzhai without the Internet. Shanzhai has caught the interest of millions of Chinese online.
There are also shanzhai celebrities. Many shanzhai singers can be seen performing in some remote places where people cannot see performances by the actual “real” stars. These events are very successful, even though people know that they are not getting the “real” thing.

25、 My father was German, but he worked in England. He married my mother, who was English. Her family name was Robinson, so when I was born in 1632 in England, they called me Robinson, after her.
My father did well in his business and I went to a good school. He wanted me to get a good job, and live a quiet, pleasant life. But I wanted adventure and an exciting life.
“I want to be a sailor and go to sea”, I told my mother and father. They were very unhappy about this.
“Please don’t go.” my father said, “You won’t be happy you know. Sailors have a difficult and dangerous life.” And because I loved him, and he was unhappy, I tried to forget about the sea.
But I couldn’t forget, and about a year later, I saw a friend in town. His father had a ship and my friend said to me, “We are sailing to London tomorrow. Why don’t you go with us?”
On September 1, 1651, I went to Hull and the next day we sailed for London.
But, a few days later, there was a strong wind. The sea was rough and dangerous, and the ship went up and down, up and down. I was very ill, and was very afraid.
“Oh, I don’t want to die!” I cried, “I want to live! If I live, I will go home and never go to sea again!”
The next day the wind stopped, and the sea was quiet and beautiful again.
“Well, Robinson,” my friend laughed, “How do you feel now? The wind wasn’t too bad.”
“What!” I cried. “It was a terrible storm.”
“Oh, that wasn’t a storm,” my friend answered, “Just a little wind. Forget it, come and have a drink.”
After a few drinks with my friend, I felt better. I forgot about the danger, and made up my mind not to go home. I didn’t want my friend and family to laugh at me!
I stayed in London for some time, but I still wanted to go to the sea. So, when the captain of a ship asked me to go with him to Guinea in Africa, I agreed. And so I went to the sea for the second time.
It was a good ship, and everything went well at first, but I was very ill again. Then when we were near the Canary Islands, a Turkish pirate (海盗) ship came after us. They were famous thieves of the sea at that time. There was a long, hard fight, but when it finished, we and the ship were prisoners. The Turkish captain and his men took us to Sallee in Morocco. They wanted to sell us as slaves (奴隶) in the market. But in the end, the Turkish captain decided to keep me for himself, and took me home with him. This was a sudden and terrible change in my life.

26、The term “bionic man” came from The Six Million Dollar Man which was a popular TV show in the U.S.A. in the 1970s. It was a story about a former astronaut whose body was rebuilt by using artificial (人造的) parts after he nearly died. Now, a team of engineers has made a robot by using artificial organs(器官), limbs and other body parts that comes close to a true “bionic man”.
The parts come from 17 manufacturers (制造商) around the world. “This is the first time they’ve been assembled (组装) together,” says Richard Walker, the director of a robot company. “It’s an attempt to show the development of medical science,” he says.
Walker says the robot has about 60 to 70 percent of the function(功能) of a human. It stands six-and-a half feet tall and can step, sit and stand with the help of a walking machine. This kind of machine is used by people who have lost the ability to walk. It also has a functioning heart that beats and circulates artificial blood(血液). Its blood carries oxygen just like human blood.
Although the parts are used in the robot work, there is a long way to go. There are some key parts missing. There’s no liver, skin or brain for the robot.
【1】The robot “bionic man” is used to _______.
A. show the development of medical science

27、 ①Choosing seating in the classroom can have an influence on a students performance (表现), a study suggests.
②Researchers from Sheffield Hallam University in the UK did a survey on students' seating positions in a classroom. Here are the results.
③The more prepared and hard-working students sit in front rows. They almost always score higher on exams. Perhaps, the front row is the perfect position for students who have trouble concentrating (集中注意力). Also, sitting closer to the front of the classroom does have an influence on the student-teacher relationship, which is connected with greater performance.. According to a study in2018, the Grade Point Average (平均成绩) decreased (下降) by 0.1 point for every row further back students sit.
④Still, some students prefer the middle rows. Dr. Robert Wallace, a member of the National Education Association, thinks of choosing to sit in the middle of the classroom as one of the worst decisions a student can make. "In a classroom, a teacher's eyes often go to the front and the back of the classroom. They don't look at the centre of the classroom very often or with the same amount of attention" said Dr. Robert Wallace.
⑤If neither the front nor the middle is suitable for a student, there can only be one way out: the back. The back row would have the lowest value. That's where students are more likely (有可能的) to chat, play video games or do some other things. However, things are not always what they seem. There are also some good students who work hard in the back row.
【1】From the third paragraph, we can learn that ________.
