六、阅读理解 (共3题,共 15分)
  • 21、

2019 marks the first year of the global commercial use of 5G. China is running ahead in this field. In March, 2019, the Shanghai Hongqiao Train Station became world’s first “5G train station”. What’s more, with the technology, it takes only 20 seconds to download a long movie. China is hopeful that we can even experience driver-less cars in daily life soon.

However, the great technology is still new to most of us. What are the advantages (优势) of 5G? Here are some ideas.

It is faster, for sure. It is expected to be at least 10 times faster than 4G. The first 5G modem (,调制解调器) of the IT company Qualcomm supports (支持) speeds of up to 5 Gigabytes (千兆字节) per second. Most of us have never experienced anything close to that speed. And we are only talking about the first generation of 5G modems. Future modems are likely to be even faster.

But 5G is not all about speed. Have you ever been to a large event where your data (数据) connection slowed down? That is because 4G networks can only support a certain number of devices (设备) per square (平方) meter. 5G networks can do much better. They can support up to a million devices per square kilometer.

Are you looking forward to that 5G world now? Get ready for the amazing future.

1If we put the passage into 3 parts, which is the best?

    A./②③/④⑤ B./②③④/ C.①②//④⑤ D.①②③//

    2Paragraph 4 shows the advantage of 5G by ________.

    A.giving advice B.having a large event

    C.comparing (比较) 5G with 4G D.talking about our prediction

3What can we infer (推断) from the passage?

A.Shanghai is the first city to use 5G.

B.5G will help us live and work better.

C.Driver-less cars will be much cheaper in the future.

D.5G networks can support up to a million devices per square kilometer.

4After reading the passage, we can know the writer ________ 5G technology.

    A.doesn’t mind B.is worried about C.dislikes D.likes

  • 22、That Susan is so funny. I need to bring the car to the wash tomorrow. why is this person so loud. Here comes the sun, doo-doo-doo.

We often find ourselves in an endless thought loop (圈). And every so often, we try to stop this endless flow of thoughts by telling ourselves to just stop thinking. But do we or can we ever really stop thinking?

It depends on your definition (定义) of “thinking”, according to Michael Halassa, a researcher at MIT, the US. We basically go through each day in one of the two states — we either realize that we’re thinking or we don’t. Our brains won’t stop thinking completely until we die.

“The brain never stops thinking in a sense. Most thoughts are actually in the background without us noticing them and there’s not really a way to turn these things off,” Halassa said.

You can compare this to how a computer works. When you’re not using your computer while it’s turned on, it is still running operations “in the background”. Your computer, much like your brain, is always “thinking”, even if you’re not actively using it.

“If you see a familiar face in a crowd and think you know them, you might not be able to come up with how you know them right away,” Halassa said. “But maybe hours later, you’ll suddenly remember. That’s a result of your brain thinking in the background.”

We even make decisions without realizing them. For example, some of this background “thinking” results in what we call “gut feeling” (直觉). During our brain’s decision-making process, sometimes we create a story to explain the decision — sometimes it’s accurate; sometimes it’s not.

Even sitting here reading this, thinking about “thinking” is sending messages across a chain of neutrons (神经元) in the brain. So if we somehow manage to stop ourselves from “thinking”, the brain won’t sign off. It will continue to have thoughts — we just won’t realize them.

【1】When you are in an endless thought loop, you ________.

A.can think about a problem very clearly

B.keep thinking about one thing after another

C.can’t stop thinking about things in the past

D.keep thinking about one thing again and again

【2】What does Paragraph 5 try to tell us?

A.Human brains are thinking all the time.

B.A computer can think like a human brain.

C.Human brains work faster than computers.

D.A computer can deal with plenty of information.

【3】What’s the best title for the passage?

A.Will We Continue to Have Thoughts after We Die?

B.How Do the Neurons in the Brain Work?

C.What is the Definition of “Thinking”?

D.Can We Ever Really Stop Thinking?
