26、“A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for,” said John A. Shedd, an early 20th century author. Throughout’ the Covid-19, we’ve all become used to assessing risk in new ways. We’ve come to understand, though we can never get rid of risk altogether, we have great power to make choices both large and small to protect ourselves.【1】It stops us from stepping outside of our comfort zones and trying new things.
Developmental psychologists talk about “positive risks” — socially acceptable risks that our lives can benefit from.【2】But what about these, who develop into adults? Researchers have found that happiness for older adults is being able to choose how they spend their time, including ways that are adventurous, new and even-like hiking or other outdoor activities — mildly risky.
One guide to positive risk management lists ways that people can make sure their risks are on the “safe" side of risk range. For example, to ensure a successful bike ride, you should in advance equip yourself with a fully-charged cell phone and a full water bottle.【3】 Or if you are, concerned about your physical capacity, consult a certified trainer or medical professional before departure.
【4】This means adapting to changing situations. In response to the deadly virus, people choose to step back into normal life only after they are vaccinated. In this way, people could be confident that the risk is tolerable.
Nobody wants to be needlessly risky. But using our newly-acquired risk assessment tools, we can once again learn and grow in our lives.【5】
A.Take risks in a positive way.
B.But the self- protective mind state carries its own risk.
C.Overall happiness is one benefit of positive risk-taking.
D.Remember to tell one of your friends or family your destination.
E.Besides taking preventive steps, flexible thinking is also encouraged.
F.Like a ship sailing away from its harbor, that is what we were built to do.
G.For teenagers, this means risks like running for monitor or trying out for a team.
27、Year 2020 seems to be the year of healthy eating. People are choosing to follow a vegetarian diet, and some have even given up animal products entirely.
But Joe Rogan, the most popular podcast host in the US, was against this trend and called January 2020 “world carnivore (食肉动物) month”. In his recent podcast, he reviewed his experience with “the carnivore diet”. Starting in January, he ate only meat for 30 days without any vegetables or fruit.
The podcaster tried the diet after the famous psychologist Jordan Peterson claimed that the diet could promote energy levels and mental health, according to Business Insider.
Rising to the challenge, Rogan posted regular updates about his diet on the popular social platform Instagram. With the average day consisting of just 2 meals, breakfast would be 6 eggs or a steak, and dinner would include either another steak, such as beef, fish or liver.
After 30 days, Rogan said he felt amazed. He also wrote, “I lost 12 pounds. Lots of pains went away. My energy is constant, and I have improvements in my stomachache. I went into this thing, thinking that this carnivore diet was kind of strange, but this is as good as I’ve felt in a long time.”
It has positive results, but some have pointed out the diet’s limitation. Speaking to CNBC, Linda Horn, a health expert at Northwestern University, said that studies show that a high-quality diet with a variety of nutrients is connected with “a better quality of life, long life and reduced risk of chronic (慢性的) diseases”. She added that the energy people claim to feel from the carnivore diet is probably not because of the meat. Instead, she said kicking carbohydrates (碳水化合物) and sugar causes weight loss and it makes people feel better.
While the carnivore diet may offer you some benefits, eating a balanced diet will afford you more health benefits than consuming a single food group, according to Healthline.

28、 What worried 22-year-old Shanghai graduate Tang Yining the most until mid-March was uncertainty over finding her dream job as soon as the COVID-19 pandemic ends.
A few job interviews originally scheduled to be held after the Spring Festival holiday were all postponed due to the outbreak-related restrictions on free movement of people.
Thankfully, three interviews were shifted to the online medium. "They are actually more efficient than I had expected. In fact, online interviews helped me save time and money because for offline interviews I usually end up traveling to different provinces," a college graduate said.
According to online recruitment(招聘) firm Boss Zhipin, the number of companies using distance interviews increased by more than 20 times within 10 days after Spring Festival, compared to the first week of the autumn recruitment season in 2019.
Industry insiders said online recruitment will help fill in job vacancies in time and is of great significance to keep the employment stable nationwide and further offer economic impetus(推动力).
“Public employment service agencies and the market players concerned should also be encouraged to share information on job vacancies and strengthen the coordination of online and offline recruitment activities to ensure a stable job market,”Chinese Vice-Premier Hu Chunhua said.
As of mid-March, more than 50,000 companies had participated in the online campus recruitment, providing more than 200,000 positions.
