21、Lifelong learning is good for you
It is impossible for everyone to have access to additional formal education. Fortunately, many educational resources have made it easier for people to develop a habit of lifelong learning.【1】The following points are reasons why you should stick to lifelong learning.
【2】In 2015 some researchers found people with a bachelor's degree can earn much more than those just with a high school degree. In 2014 a report said that 50% of jobs would become unnecessary by 2025 due to technological development. New technology changes the nature of work and we need continuous learning and personal growth to adapt ourselves to the changes. Open-mindedness and curiosity are beneficial to your career. People who enjoy learning are more active at work than those who don't. Now think of the most admirable colleagues you know. Do they tend to be knowledgeable about almost any topic of interest? Do they make insightful speeches on the topics they know best?【3】Those you admire most are those who seem most devoted to learning and personal growth.
Our ability to learn is a keystone of human motivation. Have you ever sat in a quiet place and finished a great novel? Do you remember the feeling of accomplishment when you solve a challenging task? Have you managed to conduct difficult experiments or create something new? Education may not always have influence on wealth, health or career.【4】.
There are many reasons why we should continue learning. Lifelong learning isn't just an economic necessity but a physical, emotional, and social one.【5】Once you catch them, you will get one of the most rewarding things in your life.
A.We live in an age full of opportunities for learning.
B.Educational input determines your competitiveness.
C.Educational level influences your work performance.
D.Do they seem open-minded and intellectually energetic?
E.Catch the chance of lifelong learning, and you'll be successful.

23、Finding fish is going to get harder as climate change continues to heat the world’s oceans. A new study finds that warming seas over the past 80 years have reduced the sustainable catch of 124 species of fish and shellfish. Sustainable catch refers to the amount that can be harvested without doing long-term damage to the health of populations of some species.
Overfishing has made that decline worse, researchers say. Overfishing refers to catching so many fish that the size of the population falls. In some parts of the world, such as the heavily fished Sea of Japan, the decrease is as high as 35 percent. That’s a loss of more than one in every three fish.
Researchers examined changes in 235 populations of fish and shellfish between 1930 and 2010. Those fish populations spread far apart across 38 ocean regions. Temperature changes vary from one ocean site to another. But on average over that time, Earth’s sea-surface temperatures have risen by about half a degree Celsius.
On average, that warming has caused the sustainable catch to drop by 4.1 percent, the study found. About 8 percent of the fish and shellfish populations the team studied saw losses as a result of the ocean warming. However, about 4 percent of some populations increased. That’s because certain species have thrived in warmer waters. One example is a kind of black sea fish. It lives along the northeastern U.S. coast. As warming continues, these fish will reproduce faster until they reach their limit.
About 3.2 billion people worldwide rely on seafood as a source of food. That means it’s urgent for commercial fishing fleets and regulators to consider how climate change is affecting the health of all of those fish in the sea.
【1】What does the new study discover?
A.Overfishing is to blame for fish health.
B.Warming seas cause fewer fish and shellfish.
C.Seafood matters to people’s health worldwide.

A.About 8 percent of them suffered from a great loss.
B.About 35 percent of them survived in the Sea of Japan.
C.About 3.2 billion species have been saved up to now.
D.About 80 species have died out because of warming seas.
【4】From which is the text probably taken?
A.A cooking guide.

D.A health brochure.
24、 Bloggers (写博客的人) are sometimes accused of being egomaniacs (after all, what could make one more proud than to assume that the whole world is interested in your thoughts?) and some are the source of ridicule. With more than half of all blogs on the Internet written by under-19s, parents are increasingly worried that their youngsters are putting their personal safety at risk.
Perhaps parents should focus on the positive. For a lucky few, blogging has led to fame and fortune on a scale that most people can only dream of. One of the best-known of these is Maisie Lim, whose fashion blog Style Cookie is read by such famous people as Miuccia Prada, Anna Wintour and Lady Gaga. Maisie is regularly invited to top fashion shows around the world and has thousands of fans.
Due to the fact that Maisie is only 15 years old, her parents have received a lot of criticism for letting her achieve so much at such a young age. Some people think it is inappropriate for a teen to become so heavily involved in the “adult” world. Maisie, though, is just one example of a growing phenomenon: the teen blogger businessperson.
“I was shopping at discount shops, taking photos of my clothes and writing down my thoughts. Starting a style blog seemed like the next logical step because it was a way to share things that inspired me jellyfish with a global audience. I started when I was 11, which was before blogs became big. I never dreamed it would take off.” says Maisie.
Besides updating her blog, Maisie spends time running a web magazine for teenage girls and employs four editors as well as numerous writers, illustrators and photographers.
For more inspiration, look at Suke Smith’s lifestyle blog Pay it Forward. Due to the success followers on Twitter. At 16, Suke is considered experienced on the blogging scene.
Despite the success of the teenage bloggers like Maisie and Suke, it can be tough for teens to be taken seriously because of their age. “But if you’re offering something a bit different, and you’re passionate about what you do, people will notice you,” explains Maisie.

26、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“Bye, Mom; bye, Dad; don’t worry. We’ll take care of everything!’’ Carly waved from the front door of the shop as her parents drove off. They were headed for a well-deserved vacation from their candy store, and Carly had promised them she’d be able to run it by herself. Her parents didn’t quite agree, however, so they gave in to each other by having Carly Aunt Maggie come over and help. Her parents often called her aunt “uniquely creative’’, but it didn’t matter; Carly always had fun when her aunt was around.
Maggie blew into the store happily. “All right, Carly my love, what do we do first?” she smiled at her niece. Carly knew clearly the main job was to serve customers, so she could hardly wait to make her best candies. Seeing them on display, Aunt Maggie bit a bite of the chocolate mint-flavored candy. “It’s good, but… unoriginal,” commented her aunt. “We can do better.”
Before Carly could question what Maggie meant, the woman had gone to investigate the kitchen in the back. Shortly, she came back, hands full of items. “We need to add some of these to better that basic taste.” “Brussels sprouts? (芽甘蓝粉)’’ Carly looked at her aunt, surprised and puzzled. She couldn’t be serious! But she was. Carly’s eyes grew wide as she watched her aunt mix it together. “And some spicy sauce (辣酱汁)? That’s definitely an ice cream flavor. The cold will perfectly make candies less spicy!” Carly shook her head as Maggie continued her strange candy combinations: lemonade-flavored candy, barbeque-flavored candy...
Carly looked up as the bell over the front door rang, announcing some customers. Three boys came in and approached the counter. “Try something new!” insisted Maggie, offering the first boy a piece of the Brussels sprout candy she had made, the second boy a spoon of hot sauce one... Puzzled, but too polite to argue, the boys left the store.
“There go our customers. Nobody will want to shop here!” Carly said to herself. The store was quiet. Carly sat behind the counter, not knowing what to wait.
