26、 A father and his daughter were flying a kite in the park. The young daughter was a little bit tired, so they took a break on the bench. When the daughter saw an old man selling apples, she asked her father to buy her an apple. Her father didn’t bring much money with him, but it was enough to buy two apples. So he did, and gave both of them to his daughter, smiling.
His daughter held one apple in her left hand and the other in her right hand. Then the father asked her if she could share one of the apples with him. When the girl heard this, she quickly took a bite (咬) from one apple. And before her father could speak, she also took a bite from the other apple.
The father was surprised. He wondered what mistakes he made so that his daughter acted in such a greedy (贪婪的) way. He was lost in thought. Perhaps he was just thinking too much. His daughter was too young to understand about sharing and giving. A smile disappeared from his face.
Suddenly, his daughter with an apple in her left hand said, “Daddy, have this one! It is much juicer and sweeter.” Her father was speechless. He felt bad about making the judgment (判断) so quickly about a small child. But his smile came back knowing why his daughter quickly took a bite from each apple.

27、I am off on a trip on my own. Yes! Alone! I can't wait going to Europe to see some cities I really want to visit. It is great because I can choose what I want to do in each city. I am going to travel by train on the Euro rail.
The train trip was fast and the views of the countryside were amazing. Now I am in Salzburg, Austria. The quiet hills of Austria are a great place to relax. The movie The Sound of Music was filmed around this area. Mozart, the famous musician, was from here. I listened to some of his classical music.
The train ride to Amsterdam was a long one. It gave me time to write some postcards to send back home. Amsterdam is a fun city, full of friendly locals and many tourists. I spent the whole day visiting the art museums here. The museum about the famous Dutch artist Van Gogh is filled with history and beautiful art. I took a boat ride and saw local people in traditional dress. I even got to taste some delicious Dutch cheese.
Copenhagen, Denmark, is one of the safest places in the world. I spent a busy and nice day at the Tivoli Amusement Park. It is a huge park which even has concerts and dance shows. Hans Christian Anderson, a famous writer of children's books, was born in this city. I found a lovely bookshop and bought two of his fairy tale books, The Little Mermaid and The Ugly Duckling.
My travels alone are done! What an adventure this trip has been! I love it.
