  • 25、请阅读下面短文,从每小题所给的ABC三个选项中选出一个最佳选项,并将答案填写到答题卷的相应位置上

What time of day do you feel most alert (清醒的)? Are you more of a morning person? Or does your brain need a few hours to get going? A lot of research suggests that we should pay attention to our body clock. It can tell us what time of day we are best able to perform, according to the Wall Street Journal (华尔街日报).

When it comes to the human brain, many people work best later in the morning. This is because the body’s temperature takes time to rise through the day. Taking a warm shower when you wake up can help speed this up.

But everyone’s body clock is different. Morning people will rise early and work better early in the day. Evening people will wake later but their brain will work better toward the end of the day.

Research shows that we’re better at some activities at certain times of the day. Physical performance is at its best between 3 pm and 6 pm, so it s better to exercise later in the day.

Between noon and 4 pm, people begin to get distracted. This is partly because our brain becomes less alert after we eat a big meal. Research also shows that we become sleepy around 2 pm.

Finally, it is best to eat during our active periods. This allows our body to burn calories better and stops our blood sugar levels from getting too high.

1Many people perform best later in the morning because ________.

A.they can’t get up very early

B.thcy have to take a shower first

C.the body’s temperature needs time to rise

    2Evening people had better ________.

A.rise late and work in the morning

B.wake later and work in the evening

C.rise carly and work in the morning.

3What does thc underlined word “distracted” mean?

    A.精力充沛的 B.思想不集中的 C.容光焕发的

4According to the research, which of the following is TRUE?

A.It’s better to do exercise in the afternoon.

B.We perform better after eating a big meal.

C.Sleeping at 2 pm is not good for our health.

5What would be the best title for the passage?

A.Brain performance B.Research about time C.The best time to do things

  • 26、   Mark began to introduce the guest speaker to the listeners, but then stopped for a while. He had forgotten her name.

Barbara hid her valuable things when she went on vacation. When she came back, she couldn’t remember where she’d put them.

Perhaps you’ve had such experiences like these. Most people have. But most of them haven’t realized that they have a memory problem. Neither do they know a simple but important fact: Memory can be improved. If you’ll just accept that, the following will show you how.

First, relax. If you are over worried about remembering something, you’ll forget it. If you keep telling yourself that your memory is bad, your mind will come to believe it and you won’t remember things. When you forget something, don’t follow up with sayings like “Oh, my God! I always forget things!” Such words will have a bad result on you and your memory.

But relaxing isn’t enough. To improve your memory, you’ll need to take an active role. Like your body, your memory can be made strong through exercise. Look for opportunities to exercise your memory. For example, if you’re learning a language, try to actively remember a lot of new words.

If you don’t take notice of things actively, you won’t remember them. So, you can make pictures of what you see in your mind every day. For example, don’t just put your keys down! If you want to find them again, make a mind picture of the place where you’re putting them.

【1】The first two paragraphs just tell us ________.

A.Barbara was a very rich person

B.Mark often forgot his friends’ names

    A.must be too careless

B.shouldn’t lose heart about your memory

    C.must accept the fact

D.shouldn’t take notice of the result

【3】According to the passage, ________ can make your memory better.

    A.realizing your memory problems

    B.talking to your friends

C.making mind pictures of what you see

    D.doing sports every day

Many of us stayed at home in January because of COVID-19, but a special mom and her two babies took a trip.            The jaguars’ journey started in 2018 when the park ________ in the Ibera Wetlands. Several thousand jaguars once lived there, along with other important species. With the jaguars gone, the ecosystem was out of balance (平衡). “In the ________ of this species, ecosystems stop working well and ________ even break down,” Di Martino says. “The main prey (猎物) of the jaguar is the capybara and the caiman. There are plenty of them ________ jaguars have nearly disappeared in this area, which causes imbalances in the ecosystem.”

The park was the first step to give jaguars a place to live. Then they needed to breed. A female named Mariua mated with a male jaguar from Brazil. Mariua then gave birth to the two baby jaguars. It sounds simple, but the reality is more complicated. Di Martino said that jaguars born at breeding centers must not become ________ to humans and have to learn how to hunt by themselves. ________, they will not have success in the wild.

The people who work at the breeding center stay out of ________. They use video cameras to watch the jaguars from several miles away. “We provide live prey ________ them, without them realizing it comes from people,” Di Martino said.
