21、Currently, there are about 480,000 school buses operating today in the United States. These petro-fueled school buses alone contribute 5.3 million tons of climate-changing pollution every year. Replacing all school buses in America with an electric-powered model would be equal to taking 1 million cars off the road, saving millions of tons of pollution annually.
If schools in America were to swap out all of these school buses with electric-powered replacements, it would not only have plenty of environmental benefits, but also many health benefits for the students taking school buses every week.
Not only do these hundreds of thousands of buses have terrible effects on the environment, they also have harmful health consequences for the students riding the bus every day. Approximately 95 percent of school buses run on gas, which is proven to cause respiratory diseases and worsen existing conditions such as asthma.
“Pollution from petro-fueled school buses is harming our children’s health and contributing significantly to global warming,” said Andrea McGimsey, Environment America Global Warming Director. “Our research shows that whether they’re boarding the bus or on the bus, kids are exposed to poisonous air in high concentrations. Electrifying our buses is a common-sense solution for communities across the nation.”
These electric school buses are already available for schools to consider. They are cleaner, healthier, and often cheaper for schools to purchase in place of petrol-fueled buses in the long run. Electric school buses have zero exhaust-pipe emissions, which could help reduce kids’ exposure to poisonous air on a daily basis.
“When we put our kids on a school bus, we rely on these buses for safe transportation,” said Jeff Robinson, director of U. S. PIRG’s transportation program. “We have the technology to avoid these negative influences, so why wouldn’t we drive toward a cleaner future?”

22、Any time of the day you can commit to exercising is a good time for getting active. However, the best time for exercise is different for each person.【1】
Determine when you have the most energy. Do you struggle to get out of the bed in the morning or do you wake up energized and ready to go? Are you a night owl and never get to bed before midnight? Once you establish what your sleep tendencies are, you will have a better idea of when your body is most ready to exercise. 【2】You are more likely to hit the snooze button instead of getting a workout in.
Consider your daily schedule. When are you the busiest?【3】Try to fit in exercise before or at least around these events. Some people would prefer to get it out of the way first thing, while others prefer to put it off until the end of the day when they are all caught up.
Determine your exercise goals. If you are trying to develop a routine, you may want to exercise in the morning. People who exercise in the morning are more consistent.【4】If you are trying to improve your performance, evening exercise may be best. You may experience less tiredness, quicker reaction times, and more strength and flexibility in the evening. If you are trying to lose weight, you may want to exercise in the morning before you have eaten when your body is more likely to use fat instead of carbohydrates for energy
【5】This way, you’ll see how you feel and find the time that works best with your schedule. Keep an exercise log to help you evaluate each time.
A.This will give your body time to relax.
B.Do you perform better in the morning or at night?

24、Three Modern Services
When you're working a full-time job, studying or on the hunt for work, life can feel exhausting. The good news is that modern technology has made life easier in many ways, and with the following services, you'll find you have more time and energy for the things that matter.
Meal kit delivery services
Meal kit delivery services are one of the most underestimated innovations of the 21st century. How they work is simple. At the beginning you choose how many people need to eat in your household. Then, what your dietary requirements are, and any other preferences. Finally, you get to choose which meal kits will be delivered to your door.
No matter your diet, you can have an appropriate meal kit delivered. For example, check out these low carb meal delivery options. The kit comes complete with all the ingredients you need, already prepared. All you have to do is to follow the simple recipe to put them together and pop your meal in the oven.
With meal kit delivery, you don’t have to worry about cooking or spending money on takeout. Your trips to the grocery store will become easier and you'll waste less money and food.
Taskrabbit
One of the most frustrating aspects of having a place you call your own is that you have to take care of the maintenance(维修). Even if you are renting, there are certain tasks that your landlord will expect you to see to, whether a leaky tap or a problematic electrical appliance.
For this, Taskrabbit connects you with freelancers who are willing to take on just about any task for you. You can hire someone to take care of your leaky tap rather than spending your own time and energy doing it. You're giving someone work while enjoying your time off.
Postmates
Finally, one of the most convenient and useful services is, of course, Postmates. With Postmates, you can get just about anything delivered or deliver something yourself. You can get someone to do your groceries for you – simply make a list of what you need and choose whether the shopper should call you if something is out or if they can decide on replacements themselves.
You can also use it for takeout, to send or receive documents, and any other delivery needs you have.
We live in an age of convenience, and we should take advantage of it. Start using the above services and you'll see your stress levels drop.

26、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I live with my husband, Tyrone, in San Luis Obispo, California, about three miles from the beach. Every few years, the humpback whales come into the bay for a few days while migrating. November 2020 was one of those times, so we took out our yellow double kayak (皮艇) to watch the wildlife. We paddled (用桨划船) out the sea and saw seals, dolphins, and about 20 whales feeding on silverfish. We were in amazement watching these graceful giant creatures — each one about 50 feet long—spray through their blowholes.
At the time, my friend Liz was staying with us. The next day, I asked her if she wanted to go out on the water to see them. With no such experience, she refused. “There’s nothing to worry about,” I assured her. “The boat is stable, and we can turn back anytime.” Finally, she agreed to join me. I didn’t want her to miss this great experience and regret it later.
At 8:30 the following morning when we got out on the water, there were already about 15 other kayakers and surfers in the bay. After a half-hour, we had our first whale sighting: two humpbacks swimming toward us. How amazing to be that close to a creature that size, I thought, as the whales dipped under the waterline.
When the whales went down, they left what looked like oil on the water. I figured if we paddled toward that spot, we’d be safe from the whales, since they’d just left. We followed them at a distance—or what I thought was a distance. Suddenly, a tightly packed group of silverfish started jumping out of the water into our kayak. Oh no! We were being attacked.
