22、 China and Western countries have something different in cultures about certain animals, but when it comes to pigs, we have the same idea—pigs are ugly, lazy and stupid.
Just look at some Chinese sayings such as "Boiling a dead pig' and "A pig looking in the mirror is still a pig." And in English, there are some expressions like "Eating like a pig" and "Pigs might fly." None of them are complimentary (赞美的).
However, pigs have some good qualities (品质). They are even as smart as dogs and elephants. They have good memories. And they know whether (是否) people treat them well or not.
A UK cartoon, Peppa Pig is a most popular cartoon. The four members in the pig family teach children from all around the world about love, friendship and the value (价值) of family. And a Chinese cartoon film, the Adventures of Me Dull, is also very famous. In the cartoon, the little pig, Me Dull, has a heart of gold and always works hard towards his dreams. Most people want quick success, but Me Dull is slow and patient, and not afraid of failing again and again.
Maybe when we talk about pigs next time, we should think of their good qualities.

23、Now some women are spending a weekend at Mother’s Camp. There, husbands and children are not allowed. Why would a woman want to take a vacation without her family? Some women say they need time to be alone.
At Mother’s Camp a woman has space to herself. She can sleep, read or watch TV, and no one will bother(打扰) her. No children will ask, “Mom, what’s for dinner?” No husband(丈夫) will say, “Oh, dear, I can’t find any clean socks.” In fact, almost 50% of women in the United States work outside the home. Many of them work full-time and then come home to a second job---taking care of their homes and families. These working women say one of their biggest problems is housework.
In the United States, working wives(妻子) do about 75% of the housework. Many of their husbands say they want to help. But then they burn the rice or they can’t find the pans(平底锅). They ask so many questions that their wives think it is easier to do the job themselves.
Some women go to Mother’s Camp just to get a break from housework. For two days they don’t cook, they don’t clean, they don’t look after their children and husbands. What do they do?
