二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 26、   Earlier this year, the Ministry of Education said they would “pay more attention to cultivating students’ masculinity (阳刚之气)” through enhancing physical education and psychological direction for students.

This proposal received widespread public support, according to a recent study released by China Youth Daily. Among the 1,519 participants, 85.5 percent agreed that Chinese youths should be taught to be more masculine.

Feng Yaowei (not his real name), a teacher in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, said that cultivating masculinity among students is necessary. As many young people are brought up by overprotective parents, when faced with obstacles, they are more likely to give up rather than work to overcome them. “Cultivating masculinity can help students develop a strong will,” Feng told China Youth Daily.

For Xu Chenchen (not her real name), a Senior 2 student from Hangzhou, masculinity means having a sense of duty, rather than referring to a certain appearance or manner of dress. “This is a quality that every teenager should have, no matter their gender,” Xu told China Youth Daily.

This is best illustrated by Song Jiarui, a female student at China West Normal University. In 2018, the 20-year-old girl cut her long hair and joined the army. Every day, she got out of bed early and started a 10-kilometer exercise routine that involved climbing and running.

“It’s challenging, but women can be strong and tough as well,” Song told Tencent News. “My efforts will never end,” she added, explaining that she will return to the army after graduation. “As a female, I will try my best to work for justice and a peaceful world.”

“There is nothing wrong with men being caring and emotionally expressive – qualities considered to be feminine (女性化的), and women can also benefit from being courageous and rational (理性的),” Shen Yifei, a sociologist at Fudan University, whose research focuses on gender, told CGTN. “Good personal qualities have nothing to do with the sexes.”

【1】Why does Feng Yaowei consider cultivating students’ masculinity necessary?

A.It enables them to be independent.

    B.It helps develop their determination.

C.It is one of the objectives of physical education.

D.It is a way for them to learn to protect themselves.

【2】What is masculinity according to Xu Chenchen?

    A.Appearing tough.

    B.Behaving like a man.

    C.Being responsible.

D.Having a healthy body and mind.

【3】What does the example of Song Jiarui show?

A.Both men and women can be masculine.

B.Women are better than men in some aspects.

C.Haircuts have nothing to do with masculinity.

D.Masculinity is best demonstrated by soldiers.

【4】What can we infer from Shen Yifei’s words?

A.Men should learn to care for others more often.

B.Positive qualities are not determined by gender.

C.Both genders have their own personality advantages.

D.Feminine qualities involve being caring and rational.

  • 27、Have you been dreaming of taking a vacation, but wonder whether it’s better to take a solo journey, or have an adventure with friends? In my opinion, there are advantages in both travelling alone and in a group.

Group travel is generally much cheaper. You can get group rates on accommodations, certain modes of transportation, or tickets to tourist attractions. If you’re able to reduce costs, you’ll have extra money to see and do more things.

It is also safer to travel in a group. Do you remember when you were little your parents or teachers used the “buddy system”? It doesn’t only apply to children. It’s especially true when travelling, particularly in unknown places. Nobody can forecast problems or dangers on the way, such as traffic accidents and conflicts with strangers. When you travel with a friend or within a group, you have someone to watch your back.

Travelling with other people can also create shared experiences. For many people this is the best part of travelling — there’s always someone to do things with, laugh with, share stories with, and make memories with. These are just some of the reasons why travelling with friends can be more fun.

However, if you travel alone, you are the boss. There’s no one to tell you where to go or what to do, and you don’t have to make compromises. You can do things at your own pace, on your own timetable. For some people, meeting other travellers is part of the fun of travelling alone. A lot of solo travellers seem to end up in the same spots, so you have a chance to meet other people with the same interests. You can join them and spend some time together, then go your separate ways. Some people take trips alone because they want time to reflect. If you simply enjoy being on your own, or want to be with your own thoughts, without anyone else bothering you, then solo travel might be the way to go.

In general, whether you choose to travel solo or in a group mainly depends on your personality. Think of how you are in your everyday life — do you value your time alone, or do you prefer to be in the company of others? It might not seem like a big deal, but if you’re travelling for any length of time, it could mean the difference between an enjoyable, memorable vacation, and an unhappy trip.

【1】What is the advantage of group travel, according to Paragraph 2?

A.You can save money by sharing a hotel room with friends.

B.You can choose what kind of transportation you want to take.

C.You can do many fun activities and laugh happily with friends.

D.You can visit a lot more places with friends for less money.

【2】What does “buddy system” mean in Paragraph 3?

A.A rule you should follow at school.

B.Your parents’ suggestion for making friends.

C.A way to ensure your safety when going out.

D.A rule of not travelling to unknown places.

【3】What advantage of solo travel is not mentioned?

A.You can decide where to go, when to go, and what to eat.

B.You can join other travellers based on your interests.

C.You can have time to reflect and think alone.

D.You can share memories with your friends after the journey.

    【4】What is the author’s attitude?

A.Group travel is better than solo travel.

B.Travelling alone has more positive factors.

C.The way you like to travel depends on your personality.

D.It is not a big deal to choose to travel alone or in group.

  • 28、According to A Guide for Families by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, children, preteens, and teens can lie for varying reasons.【1】 Their upsetting situations could include failing a class. and other struggles with things about themselves or fitting in with their peers.

【2】. This is not to say that lying is acceptable, but the less parents take it personally, the more they can calmly and constructively help their child. Children and teens who fall into anxiety easily will use lying as an unhealthy coping strategy.

What should a parent or caregiver do? Try to keep in mind that kids can be quite self-absorbed and they often don’t understand how hurtful lies can be. With this in mind, here are a few tips to help promote truthfulness in your child at any age.

【3】 If you overreact, then you are just building a barrier between you and your child, Calmly discuss or lecture about honesty and dishonesty and why they chose to lie. 【4】Your understanding may not be able to stop your teen from creating those everyday lies, but you can convey that there are other options available.

Keep in mind that addressing lying behaviours is a process not a quick fix.【5】 But if you keep your own emotion positively, your child or teen is more likely to eventually open up.

While in the short term you may just get a shrug, keeping yourself calm to create a sense of emotional safety will help your voice of truth and reason be heard throughout their lives.

A.Get them to know that you understand them or their situations.

B.Try to seek some help from experts who understand them well.

C.Some kids may take a while before they feel safe to level with you.

D.When I coach parents, I help them learn not to take lies from their kids personally.

E.They try to avoid getting into trouble or lie because they are too upset to talk about painful experiences.

F.Lying is not only harmful to kids then selves, but also it hurts people around them.

G.The best you can do as a parent is to keep yourself from overreacting to your child’s lies.

    There’s a Museum for Everyone

What comes to mind when you think of a museum? Perhaps you 1 an imposing building in a rather conventional(传统的)design made of high-quality stone? Perhaps you imagine a classic 2, such as the museum of natural history, the museum of fine art, or the national museum -- its exhibits displayed in a time - 3 style and falling in line with tradition.

Some people might consider these customary institutions the best way to 4 the future of typical educational topics. A museum of old breadboards, they may say, does not make up an orthodox(正统的)exhibition. But according to the Museum Association, a museum is defined as a place enabling “... people to 5 collections for inspiration, learning and enjoyment.” And so of the 2500 estimated museum in the UK, a few are bound to be considered a little unconventional.

What about Neil Cole’s Adventures in Science Fiction? This odd museum of classic science fiction was opened by the 6 Neil Cole. “Science fiction has become more mainstream so I thought people might want to see this,” says Mr Cole.

If clocks are more to your 7, why not visit the Cuckoo-land Museum? Set up by brothers Roman and Maz Piekarski, this collection of over 600 cuckoo(布谷鸟)clocks is considered to be the largest of its kind in the world -- and all from the Black Forest region in Germany.

Finally, you could visit the Victor Wynd Museum of Curiosities in London. This 8 institution reverses the trend of educating visitors through 9 explanations alongside its exhibits. Instead, it displays all of its 10 treasures, which include dodo bones, shrunken heads and a collection of McDonald’s Happy Meal toys, with no explanation at all.

五、书面表达 (共1题,共 5分)

Every year, Vargas and her dad go hiking. This summer’s trip was up Table Rock in the Grand Tentons in early December.

Vargas was just below the 11, 000-foot peak with her dad waiting about a mile down the trail when she met an injured English springer spaniel. She couldn’t find the dog’s owner and she figured it would be easier for her to carry the dog to safety.

“I had to crawl under him to get him up on my shoulders,”said Vargas, a single mother of three children from Idaho. “I felt the difficulty of it right away. I never felt 55 pounds like that before.”

Her dad, Ted Kasper, who took some photos when he saw his daughter coming down the trail with a dog on her shoulders. Dad laughed and said, “Isn’t this hike hard enough? You must carry a dog too?” Vargas recalled. “My dad made me laugh. He is such a great man.”

That sense of humor helped Vargas get through the difficulty of carrying the heavy dog down the trail. The hiking was hard and nearly unbearable at times. Every time Vargas put him down so she could rest, it was difficult. And every time she got down on her knees to put her head under his belly and tried to use neck and body strength to lift him, she was painful and it was hard.

“I thought we would see people on the trail on the way down to help. But that wasn’t the case.” she said. Kasper offered to run down the trail and try to find help, but Vargas didn’t want to be left alone.

About halfway down the trail, Vargas thought she might not be able to continue. At the time, it started to rain. “The thought of stopping crossed my mind once. My legs hurt and were shaking. My dad’s jokes made me laugh and it gave me energy. And feeling the dog’s breath growing faint was what encouraged me to continue,” she said.

Finally hiking six miles and reaching the bottom of the trail, Vargas found a very small note that said, “Lost dog named Boomer, call this number.”
